This was our second trip to Garbarino’s this week. We thoroughly enjoyed both of our dinners. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good Italian food. Everything is presented beautifully and tastes delicious.
Our waitress, Estelle,was knowledgeable and quite efficient. She was our server at both dinners. We enjoyed talking to her.
This restaurant is a great improvement over the previous restaurant in this location.

Finally an excellent southern Italian restaurant in Shadyside. Really enjoyed the food and service. We had the Eggplant Parmigiana and Scampi both were delicious
Every choice whether appetizer or entree was delicious that we were too full to try the desserts so we purchased tiramisu to go !
Fantastic new restaurant in East End, surprising how little Italian the area has, felt as a big void was filled. Loved the all fresh made pasta. One of the best spaghetti bolognese I have ever had!!! We also saw a veal chop Parmesan being ordered next to us and we know what to get next time. ( it was bigger than the plate) service was fantastic, it felt like a cozy family Italian joint.
Where to start. I was fortunate enough to run into this young guy who turned out to be the Garbarino at Garbarinos. We talked for a little about the new restaurant and how every is going and this guys passion for his Italian heritage is awesome! I get it he’s having a hard time finding quality people to work and the are very understaffed but also super busy which was nice to dine at a nice busy restaurant. The service at the bar was nice and friendly I’m guessing they are having a hard time finding waiters and waitresses, I read an article about service industry shortages so I’m sure they aren’t alone. I started reading through some of these reviews and I’m appalled at people and the “I’m a critic” mentality. GET OVER YOURSELVES!! The food was just exactly what the neighborhood needs! Fresh all made in house pasta. I had the Sicilian ragu special with rigatoni and was just in love with every bite. They told me that it’s going to be a week day special and only available Tuesday-Thursday....looks like I know what days to visit. The garlic butter was almost an appetizer in itself and decided to get the beans and greens to start. With a glass of Amarone I was a super happy camper!!

Lovely new restaurant operated by a personable and talented young chef who has based this restaurant on his family's Italian-American restaurant on Long Island. A menu full of classics but all done in an elevated way. All fresh pasta, gnocchi made with pate de choux not potato, served in a ratatouille sauce, chicken piaccata served with beautifully steamed broccoli rabe. Everything just done to a high standard yet still a homey, comfortable atmosphere. This could easily become a restaurant I would come back to on a regular basis.
So excited to try this new restaurant in very disappointed in the service and the unseasoned food.
I took my mother, wife and son out for an early Mother’s Day dinner Saturday night. I know this is a newly opened restaurant and I suppose some rough spots are still being ironed out. There were some good things and some bad things, then there was an unacceptable ending.
The good: greens and beans were excellent, the chicken special with sausage, artichokes, peppers and potatoes was also very good and the snow pea risotto with mushrooms was unique and tasted good.
The bad: my rigatoni with short rib ragu was taste free and the pasta was from a box and not fresh made. The same for my sons rigatoni special - from a box not fresh. The calamari were rubbery and tasteless and the arincini were also pretty tasteless.
The unacceptable: Our sever must have been new as she was slow with service all night and unsure of her answers when questions were asked. None of that was good, but what made it unacceptable was when she took my credit card to pay the bill. She kept it for over 15 minutes, walking around to other tables, disappearing for a bit and never returning with it. Finally I had to get up and walk over to her to ask for it back. When she disappeared for a bit I wondered if she took off with my card. Hopefully they learn from this and return your card promptly when you pay.
Took my wife here for her birthday. She had the Chicken Piccata and I had Branzino Diavola. Both excellent! Staff were very attentive. Will definitely return.
Excellent food!!! Highly recommend!! Everything the 4 of us ordered was wonderful. Pasta is 100% made in house!!

We had a delightful experience and would recommend Garbarino’s. It was my daughter’s birthday and we had a great time. The food was delicious and the service was spot on.
First time since it was altered to focus on Italian versus French bistro. Quality of the food was excellent. Enjoyed it as La Riveria but this is a step up for the food.
We had a very nice dinner. The food was good. We were surprised by the limited wine selection by the glass. The gelato that was served for dessert was very unsatisfactory. The server was very cooperative and when told about the dessert took it off the bill. We were very surprised about the 30% discount. We drove from Butler County and were amazed that the AAA lot across the street was not available in the evening when it was obviously not in use. Parking is an issue. Neighboring businesses should be more supportive of making the entire area more attractive to visitors.
Had a great experience at the restaurant and would recommend to friends and return for another great meal. Great food, good choices on menu and great waitstaff. Just one suggestion: we ordered the cheese plate and it would help if bread and maybe some different mustards were added. Can't wait to try other items on the menu.

Really great drinks and appetizers! All pasta dishes seemed very al dente for all four diners (1 gluten free dish) which is maybe more authentic Italian?? Value for the food was great with the 30% off discount they’re running for opening month, but wouldn’t quite have been worth it at regular pricing. Our server was very attentive and thoughtful, but bar service left something to be desired. Glad to have tried it out.
Lovely new place that we were excited to try. 30% off was an added incentive for myself and my friends. Wine selection was great. Service and atmosphere were good. Some dishes were good, others were just so-so. Eggplant parmesan and calamari appetizer were great. Fusilli Scampi was awful. It tasted like lemon which was very disappointing since lemon wasn't even a listed ingredient! Not sure we will be returning.
We loved the food. Great atmosphere. Attentive service. Meals were ready quickly, which was good since we were headed to a show.
Might recommend. Needed more help. Had to look for server to get drinks and order.
This place has potential but needs more practice. The calamari was soggy and gummy, the meatballs were tough. I appreciate the handmade pastas but the scampi didn't taste anything like I would recognize a scampi to be. Our server was kind but seemed flustered and unprepared, like the restaurant opened too soon and no one has enough training. Everything on the menu is 30% off through April, for their opening month so it was definitely a worthwhile try.
I look forward to coming back in a few months when they've had more time to get into a groove.

Everything was wonderful, especially our server. But, unbeknownst to us, we wound up paying $12 for WATER! I highly recommend that you make certain people know they are paying for it, and so much.
First time here--- very nice! Dinner was special Taste30 Pgh menu. Both of our meals were very good. Our server, Estelle , was absolutely delightful! She is an asset to your restaurant. We will almost certainly return
Steak Tartar was amazing!
My wife and I went to La Riviera to take advantage of its participation in the Taste30Pgh program. We each chose from the 3 course menu they offered for the program. We chose different options for each of the 3 courses and were very happy with everything we had. I chose the Winter Scallops entree and it might have been the best scallops dish I've ever had. Both dessert options were very good.
The wine by the glass options for both red and white were interesting and reasonably priced.
The service was appropriately attentive without being obtrusive.
We look forward to returning in the future. We've already recommended the restaurant to several friends.
Always consistent, unique and hip atmosphere plus an excellent wine list. Regularly dine there with friends, clients and family.

I had a very good meal at La Riviera! The grilled trout is outstanding. It comes on a bed of lentils, smoked pear and rapini. I was wary because I'm not a huge lentils fan, and I don't often don't like smoked foods, but I love rapini and trout so I went for it. It was so delicious, I was sorry when it was gone. My friend had the beet salad which was a generous portion with arugula and two large mounds of soft goat cheese. Yum! We shared the foie gras appetizer which was to die for. The cocktail menu is amazing as well. I decided just looking at all of the choices that I have to go back just for the drinks. The space is large, and I was afraid I wouldn't like the atmosphere, judging from the pictures online, but filled with people and the twinkling lights over the bar and open kitchen, it was enchanting. I can't wait to go back and sit at the bar for something different. I highly recommend La Riviera!

Nice menu that frequently changes. Always fresh and well prepared. Enjoyable atmosphere. Good drink list. Excellent place for casual dining. Desert menu is always good.
Food was oddly paired and we were all disappointed by the lack of flavor and poor presentation.
The food was just ok. Nothing exceptional. The portions were a good size. I was disappointed that the seats were plastic or metal and were too low for the table ?! If I’m paying $35 for an entree I would like to be in a comfortable seat! The bar seats looked like they were padded and a lot more comfortable. Our server was good. She was attentive without being over bearing.
More than 30 minutes to get our initial drink order filled, 2 and 1/2 hours for a 2 course meal, with bread arriving after the entree. One person's French onion soup had a chunk of super hot pepper in it, making it impossible for her to enjoy any of the rest of her meal.
Awesome food. Better than when we have dined here before. Foie Gras is the best you will find. The hot pot escargot was also delicious. Can’t go wrong with the coq A vin. Nice selection of different French wines as well. Definitely worth a return visit!!
