Excellent food, wine and service!
The food was good, but not great. I think at this price point there should be white table clothes and staff in uniforms. Otherwise I would say everything should be about 25% less expensive.
From the hostess Who was unsure of herself to the bartender or waiter who put a lime peel in my martini when I asked for a lemon peel! I was brought the wrong meal instead of veal he brought me spaghetti and hovered around the table combination bartender waiter.
Although there was almost nobody in the restaurant when we arrived there was this hovering and trying to move our dinner along. When we left there were only a few tables taken.
The food was good even though they brought me the wrong entrée but the serviceNeeds a lot of work
Excellent-service was top notch. Pasta perfectly cooked cool ambiance!
I value opinions like these when looking for a restaurant, so I felt that I had to comment. We went to Garbarino's recently for dinner. I do want to begin by saying that they had a nice happy hour menu and the drinks were great!
We barely sat down before being asked for our drink order and then when we needed time, it took 20 plus minutes for the waitress to come back over (after asking for her twice). She took our whole order at that time and did not write anything down. Two of the four meals ordered came before the appetizer we ordered. After they brought the appetizer, they asked if we needed anything else. We asked about the two missing meals and you could tell they were never put in.
Finally, my chicken dish was brought out and part of the chicken was not fully cooked. You could tell they took it back and just cooked my cut pieces just a bit more which was ok because I had waited so long for my meal, but not ok because I don't feel like a restaurant that charges their prices should do that. The app was great, but the rest of the food was just ok. My five year old LOVED her buttered noodles, though. I also do not appreciate that after forgetting TWO of our meals, we were only given an apology. Pittsburgh has much better spots to try than this one.
The food was EXCELLENT as was our service. I did feel like the food came VERY quickly - I suppose most people would consider this a good thing but my friend and I would have liked a little more time to catch up and enjoy the bread and oil before our meals arrived. The food was amazing! I thought $10 for that serving of tiramisu was a little pricey, but it was good. I will definitely be returning!
Best meatballs anywhere! Sauce is stupendous! Chef Andrew has a great thing going here!!!!
It felt like I was eating in a warehouse. The music was on very loud and was hard to hear others at the table. The food was so-so, the eggplant parmigiana was very salty and soupy.
The service was great when we went for dinner on a Sunday night. The restaurant was not even half full. The appetizers, desserts and drinks were delicious. The main course pasta dishes were overcooked and lacked seasoning although the portions were large.
Early Saturday dinner for party of 4 - easy drop-off and parking. Fairly small, open dining area with view into active kitchen - fascinating hanging glass chandeliers and decoration over dark bar (noise level increased as night went on...). Server was low key but friendly, helpful, attentive, and very knowledgeable about menu, food items, and wines - also had flexibility around options and preparation. Table had chicken parmesan and piccata - both prepared fresh and exceptionally well - included pasta was perfect. Beetroot salad was very good - caeser was OK (but would rather have the anchovies plain and not fried...). Limited wine choice but all selections were top quality and paired very well with the food - very generous pour. Shared housemade cannoli for dessert - very smooth creamy center, crisp pastry, generous pistachios and chocolate...
Plan to go back - would highly recommend.
Loved our dinner here! Appetizers and pastas were all great and pasta was cooked perfectly! Definitely will be back.
Great food, great service, great music.
The hostess should get into a different line of work, perhaps a hair stylist at a funeral home. My friend and I had a reservation, showed up on time, and plenty of tables were empty. The hostess acknowledged our reservation but simply and stoically announced that she had no clean table available. Not one. That was puzzling. I suggested that she or someone else clean one, and from the look on her face, that thought never occurred to her. She reluctantly proceeded to clean the least desirable table, especially on a very chilly night — the one by the door. We asked that she clean a different table. She reluctantly complied. She asked if we would like water. We said yes. She then said she’d be right back with the water. She disappeared for quite some time before breezing by our table without water and returning to her hostess station. We had to flag her down and remind her about the water. If it wasn’t for the hostess’s incompetence, cluelessness, and lack of a personality, I would have rated this place more favorably. The waiter was good and the food was good, except for the bread, which was nothing special. That was disappointing. My suggestion to the restaurant is get a new hostess and serve high-quality bread or focaccia. Those two changes would make a huge difference for the better.
Went to Gargarino's on a week night and had an early reservation. We pretty much had the restuarant to ourselves so we were able to talk to the server and bartender about the selections. My wife had a Negroni spritzer which was a delightful twist on the Aperol spritzer and Negroni cocktail. My Vieux Carre was well made and a good option on the menu.
We enjoyed a side of meatballs which was on the Happy Hour Menu which was generous and tasty. Also a choice of brusselsprouts which were again well made and generous. My Ceasar salad was a bit tasteless and very well chopped...nothing exciting and I was not especially thrilled with the presentation of the eggplant parmasean. It was served in a bowl that was too small for the amount so it was more like a stew than something which could be enjoyed by selecting the amount of eggplant and cheese by having it served on a plate. It also seemed rather soupy because of the bowl . My wife had the chicken parm which was served on a plate with rigatoni that she loved. All in all, I'll go back, but to try another selection. Thought it was a bit pricey as well.
Wife picked this spot. It was very good! Truly enjoyed the experience!
Great food and service. Will go back for sure!
Really enjoyed our meal. Restaurant went out of its way to accommodate my wife' s food allergies/sensitivities. Only caveat is that it is quite noisy when the restaurant is full.
We love Garbarino’s. The food is very good; the staff are wonderful and treat you like family.
This is our third time visiting Garbarinos. We do love their food! Our concern is the consitancy of their food. We visited three time so far with larger groups and smaller groups. Our feedback is: Food is delicious, BUT, Maybe not as hot as it should be (Egplant parmagion) perhaps pasta is too well done, or too soft... (If this is an Italian restuarant, pasta must be done perfectly every time !!! Right??? Not our experience over four months... Willing to overlook this, but the other dishes should be consistant, such as the fruscilli... too over done to make the scallops overdone but NOT inedible, ..Both times we ordered Fucilli, the pasta waas over done.. This menu is critical for timing of the cooking items. They have not perfected this yet. HOWEVER, we have had delicious meals, and are willing to give them a fourth or fifth chance. We hope you will too!!!
Stella was our waitress. Very good
Bolognese was incredible...
A tad disappointed with the risotto. The portion was a bit small and would have preferred a few more additions (Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, etc).
Server was super attentive and nice wine selection.
Looking forward to trying a different dish sometime soon!
Loved all the food. Great restaurant. Highly recommend.
The bread and dipping sauce and Proseco were excellent. The small plates my friend and I ordered were rather poor: the calamari was undercooked and way too salty. The meatballs were too salty and the Beans and Greens were average. Overpriced meal. But the ambience and service was nice.
Pasta cooked perfectly. Nice hostess and waitstaff!
We found this to be a disappointing experience. Very loud. They had run out of standard meal choices.
We had to wait a long time for everything
Sorry you had a bad experience as you could tell we were very busy that night. As for the running out of "standard menu choices" we actually only ran out of one dish which was the grilled veal chop, not our standard menu choice for the majority of guests. We are a small independent restaurant that tries our hardest to not run out of menu items, we cant afford to keep excessive amounts of food sitting around.
Wonderful food. A new favorite
Really great food at reasonable prices. Loved this new find. Will go back often with my family - including two teens!
Wonderful experience. We ordered several menu items to share and everything was delicious. Ambiance was comfortable and unfussy felt like a neighborhood bisto in NY or Rome. We will definitely be back and highly recommend.
We enjoyed our dinner. Monique was an excellent server she did everything to accommodate special food needs. The pasta was delicious and so was the chicken piccata.. Our complaint was the leftover food was packaged in containers but we were not given a paper bag to put the containers in. We were told the bags were too large The paper bags look like they were for takeout service. In a restaurant that had everything perfect we didn’t understand why they didn’t have a plastic bag to accommodate the smaller containers . We mentioned this to the manager and he said they would take this into account.
I would recommend the restaurant as good food and a pleasant experience!
It was so delicious and delightful. Reminded me of being in Sicily last year. Enjoyed the whole evening
We were really excited to try this new restaurant, but we were extremely disappointed with our experience. Our drinks were not flavorful. Our appetizers were not seasoned and had no flavor. We ordered the calamari and it was not crispy and gummy. We ordered pasta for our main meal and it was extremely undercook to the point where it was inedible. Once again our main dish had no seasoning and was extremely bland. Would not recommend!
Always a great dinner. Pleasant, friendly place with down home Italian food.
Everything was excellent, the pastas were fresh and al’ dente. The eggplant parmigiana is great, so much better than the typical/ at best average attempts in most places
Great service, friendly wait staff, exceptional food
This place was incredible! Great service, Great Food, Great Restaurant. Would recommend to everyone. Can't wait to go back
The quality of the food and beverages was excellent. It did take a long time to receive drink orders. I feel that the atmosphere though does not live up to the quality of the food, and some slight changes would make the restaurant a bit more enjoyable. The lighting is too bright, and the noise level is too high. The seating area could use some soundproofing to muffle echos. A tv facing the main dining area shows only the movie The Godfather which is a bit tacky. I also personally do not like that the staff wear cheap looking T-shirts which seem to be more fitting for a fast food type restaurant or food truck but perhaps that is being overly critical. I would definitely go back but just think the restaurant itself needs be elevated a bit given how good the food is.
Enjoyed a delicious meal at the bar. The bartender was a great help in picking just the right menu.
Nice place. Pasta dishes were great We will go back.
Very good in all respects. Menu is limited but adequate. Our server, the bartender, forgot the bread service that everyone mentions.
