We had such a lovely time! We were here for an anniversary dinner. Such lovely ambiance. Our service was exceptional.
I have been a huge fan for years. Always an enjoyable experience. Due to the current state of our economy, prices are definitely high and some of my favorite items are no longer on the menu, but this is totally understandable. The service was exceptional, as usual.
Had drinks and dinner at Gandhi Dancer after not having been there in a very long time. It was exactly as good as remembered even with a somewhat limited menu (Covid residual). Food was very good and staff was very professional.
The lobster bisque has been a favorite for a long time. This time it had no lobster meat and it is not poured table side like they used to even though the menu says they still do. The slice of key lime pie was incredibly small. half of what they used to be.
The prices have increased but the portions and quality decreased. The places is still worth a visit though.
Not as great of an experience as the last few times we've been there. Little things like the chocolate's they used to give were missed and although I mentioned it was my wife's birthday in the comments for the occasion, it was never brought up once by staff. Scallops were extremely bland and I remember the coconut shrimp being amazing in the past but I couldn't even tell that there was coconut in both the coconut shrimp and the coconut rice. Oysters were pretty good and the prime rib was very well done. Mixed drinks and wine were also very good. Service was at the level expected.
This was one of our date nights and the ambiance is perfect!!! The staff is polite and it brought back childhood memories of going to the Big Fish. I would suggest this as we enjoyed our time together. As we visitors in October there is a Breast Cancer Awareness titled meal drink and meal where a portion of proceeds will be donated. Very nice!!!
2 bdays. Hannah did a great job-nice to have good and pleasant service in this covid world
We absolutely loved the food! And the service was excellent, always one of our favorite places to visit in Ann Arbor
It was a birthday celebration. The food and the service were great. Everyone enjoyed their experience.
Great food and excellent service’
Gandy Dancer is a unique restaurant; watching a train pass while you dine. The food and wine was excellent; New York prepared to perfect medium-rare, ceasar salad was great especially with the added anchovies. Renee our server was attentive, courteous and friendly. Will go back.
Wonderful dinner. Great service and great food. Always happy when I go to handy dancer. They never disappoint
Delicious and excellent service.
Our Server was wonderful: efficient, pleasant and showed care in overall customer attentiveness and service.
Our appetizers and entrees were delicious overall except for over salty baked lobster tail, inconsistent oyster sizes and a slightly stale bread basket. The dessert of creme brûlée and carrot cake were phenomenal :)
Everything was great. The experience completely exceeded our expectations. The food was really good and the staff was super friendly. I will definitely be returning and I would recommend to everyone!
Jeremy, our waiter was extremely attentive and high class. He had about six tables by himself including busing the dishes.
They had limited capacity so lots of space between tables. All employees wore masks but outdoor waiters did not and they walked thru the dining room.
Our drinks wine and food were excellent. We had shrimp cocktail salad sea bass and scallops. Dessert was free for birthday.
Excellent dinner with friends - good food and service.
We met friends for dinner and had a great experience. Service was great from start to finish. A good variety on menu for each course. The food was fresh and we enjoyed it.
The location is historic and very interesting. The food is good. The service was stuck in the same time as the building. My daughter is a vegan and when she asked if there were any options that she could choose from, our server very curtly said no and that they could only accommodate vegetarians. He informed her that she could have a salad and/or the vegetable pasta or the asparagus (the latter two she could not because the pasta had egg in it and the asparagus that was served had butter in it.) When my daughter asked if there were potatoes, the server did say that they had fries and so she settled on a salad with fries. The server's response felt very demeaning leaving my daughter feeling badly and coloring the rest of the meal for us.
Suggesting the pasta and not knowing that the asparagus was made with butter was further proof that the server was uninformed and untrained in what being a vegan means. I hope that the servers are more informed for people with a gluten intolerance and that they don't suggest something that causes major issues for another customer with a medical problem.
In 2021, all restaurants that are noteworthy and highly rated/regarded have options for everyone. Gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, paleo, etc. The server did not even go to the kitchen to see what could be prepared. Every restaurant that I have been to with my daughter in the last year and a half since she made this choice has always been accommodating. Either there were several options available, or the kitchen modified a dish. It's time to bring the kitchen into the 21st century or risk going the way of locomotive travel.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere of the old train station. Trains went pass twice. Service was very attentive. Food was really tasty. We would definitely go back.
Service and ambiance were first rate . Food was very good too. They paid nice attention to detail
an made our Anniversary experience very enjoyable !
Food was fresh and tasty. We enjoyed the historical settings and great service. More expensive than other restaurants with similar menu but the quality made it worthy. Good for celebrations with friends and family.
Our go to when visiting our students in AA. Had stuffed Salmon this time around so delicious and steaks also cooked perfectly. The train station has been lovingly preserved. We love sitting in the fire place room when It gets a bit chillier out, so cozy!!
Not like it used to be. Food mediocre. Caesar salad tasteless. Mashed potatoes cold and pasty. Fish blah. Service from waitress attentive but bar and kitchen let her down. Drink order, long wait, water, long wait, food order, long wait, drinks came, long wait, bread came, long wait, food came. Couldn't wait to go home. Been there 100 times before pandemic. Sad for one of my former favorites.
Fantastic!! Had a great dinner and service was excellent despite our server having a lot of tables.
The Gandy Dancer never disappoints. We celebrated a birthday and the food and service were excellent.
We had an amazing dinner ... they honored our request for a quiet table and everything thereafter was superb. Very enjoyable dinner and we would love to return.
Sunday dinner with our family at the Gandy Dancer was delicious! It was a great meal with a cool ambiance. Will definitely return!
Delicious food. Service could be a bit quicker. Elegant settings.
Great service and delicious food. The staff at Gandy Dancer ensures that their customers receive a great dining experience.
Amazing food and staff!! We really enjoyed ourselves. Even the guest were nice.
Always have great food here. Along with attentive waitstaff it’s a favorite place for dinner.
Very nice atmosphere, great service, and delicious food. A truly great dining experience.
Have been there several times, but this was the poorest level of service I have ever had. Ten minutes waiting to be seated, even though we had reservations for 2, and others just coming in the door with no reservations being seated ahead of us!
Main meal served shortly after salads arrived, and plates removed to make room for the main courses. Lobster served without drawn butter. No check back with us during the meal, so no drink re-order and no additional rolls.
I know it is tough finding help, but this was way below Gandy Dancer standards (unless those are now changed)
Excessively expensive. Ordered Coconut Shrimp that was over cooked and lacked sufficient sauce to accompany the shrimp. After many many years of enjoying Gandy Dancer, will not be returning for a long while.
We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our main courses were very good. However, I had the ceasar salad that was very dry since it had very little dressing. I asked for additional dressing, but it never came.
As a gift, Gandy gave us a complimentary dessert which I thought was classy.
It’s a fine place for dinner and drinks. Limited menu, featuring several seafood dishes. Only issue is ambience. Carpet, tables, even track alongside restaurant are well worn. Time for a refresher.
The valet and the hostess were wonderful, and Jeremy our server did it a great job. The food was very good.
service was very slow. Although the food was decent, it was not up to par for the prices.
The mussels were VERY fishy and my prime rib was rare although ordered medium rare. Unable to fix since waiter was too busy and didn't come back to table.
Not the same Gandy Dancer that I remembered.
the blackened cod was excellent!
the Cape Cod salad (?) was not very good - grilled chicken on top was tough & the dressing was not very good.
Key lime pie was good!
