Second time here, love the ambiance and food was great
Good food and service nice ambiance would recommend!!
Have dined here many times we over the years. Food was excellent as was the service.
Great service, but the food was just good, not great! However, the spicy shrimp appetizer was absolutely DELICIOUS! The sparkling sangria was really good and refreshing.
Great second time out since the pandemic began last year!
Food and service were both top notch!
So one of the fanciest restaurant among the ones I have ever been! Service was really great
This is my sixth or seventh time dining here, I am always hoping for something better than the last time. The food is always a disappointment, the servers are very nice, the facility is beautiful. I’ve been dining here four years now and really wish the food was a lot better. Not many fine dining options in the area. For the price charged, the food should be much better.
Rodney was an excellent server....top notch!
Wonderful evening with friends during Restaurant Week. Food, service, & ambiance in the outdoor seating area was wonderful
If you like fresh and good food and a warm and cozy atmosphere, then you’d probably enjoy dining at the Gandy Dancer in Ann Arbor.
Was very pleased with the experience. Our waiter was amazing
The Martha's Vineyard Salad was excellent, and my salmon was cooked to perfection.
While I understand the issue with restaurants and the 25% capacity, not sure the imposition of the 1.5 hour seating curfew! We typically don't take more than that to eat a meal at any restaurant. Also, the seating next to the windows were completely full. It didn't seem that they were socially distant, but that's my impression, they could have been six feet apart.
Food was excellent and Dave was a wonderful waiter.
Such an unique, lovely and interesting restaurant. I've enjoyed every dining experience here whether after-work small plates, lunch or dinner. This evening's dinners were quite good, however, our mussel lover found hers overly salty, and the "4 oz" steak looked and was eaten like a 2 1/2 oz.
The menu is very extensive and every dish ordered by the table was enjoyed. There was a slight mixup with our table but all was made good. Service was excellent and we felt very welcome and appreciated. Ambiance of the old train depot cannot be beat.
Attending Ann Arbor's Restaurant Week is always something I look forward to every year. Due to the pandemic, there weren't nearly as many participating restaurants. But Gandy Dancer was one of them. After being seated promptly upon arrival of our reservation time, we had a great service from start to finish. Our waiter, William, was very attentive to our needs. I can't wait to go back again.
The Food was absolutely outstanding. Enjoyed every bite!!
Overall the food was good but the Caesar salad left much it be desired, it was not good
I know things have been tough but the floor in the ears of our table had not been vacuumed for a while, I expected more and was disappointed. Vacuuming doesn’t cost a lot of money but it does show intent.
The total process was excellent - personable valet and hostess - waitress proficient and very friendly - and finally, the “Restaurant Week” menu was excellent- great place to celebrate being able to dine out like normal people again!
Great place. All very nice and good.
Wonderful dining experience. Food was delicious. Suggested wine was perfect!!
We were disappointed the buffet was not in place due to covid. This was not clear from the website and was not mentioned when they confirmed the reservation by phone multiple times. When open, Gandy Dancer buffet is the best!!
Dinner was great. Wait staff was very attentive and courteous!
The food here is amazing! Me and my husband love this place. We had our wedding here :) Even during COVID we still felt safe! Their wine menu has lessened but we were still able to find something great to drink! We like trying new wines. And the food was still amazing. My husband and I absolutely love their Dynamite Scallop appetizer and their filet mignon entre. We both had dessert as well. Their carrot cake was amazing! Oh and their fresh poppyseed bread is soooooooo good! I love it! It's definitely my favorite bread of all the restaurants I've been to. So I've always been pleased about dining here. Great place to eat and a lot of charm being near the railroad and having been previously a train station (though you never would know it with how beautiful the interior is).
Family night out
First indoor dining in 11 months. Covid precautions were very good. Server was very good. My sea bass was delicious but the ‘risotto’ was dry. There should be a starch option for guests with dairy restrictions. My son couldn’t get the mashers and was told rice also had butter
Always our first choice for fish or seafood. Best in town.
Great food, pleasant and attentive service in a unique and interesting building - what's not to like about this? ... Especially if you are interested in steam railroad history and memorabilia!
Insane food, fantastic and helpful service, overall made for a great date for a birthday dinner!
Very disappointed in the food. My husband and I both got separate filets. I ordered medium well and it came out basically rare. We both felt the steaks were completely season less and tasted rubbery. Overall not satisfied, expected a much higher quality. Ambiance was nice, a beautiful restaurant although we were seated in the very back which made it feel like we were in a hallway.
As usual everything was wonderful. This was our first time out for a wonderful meal since October of 2020. We celebrated my birthday which was Feb. 2nd. We were seated well away from any other diners. My menu had birthday wishes on it for me.
I ordered the Lunch Bronzed Salmon with dry spice rub, honey-srirachi glaze, mango salsa, whipped potatoes, and fresh broccoli. 5 stars on portion, presentation and taste.
As a birthday gift I was served Creme Brule with a birthday candle.
Thank you Gandy Dancer.
We thought the restaurant was lovely. It has been 28 years since I last dined there. The food was very good. And the service was characteristically gracious and prompt.
Our server Brandy was very caring and attentive. Very knowledgeable on the restaurant and made us feel welcomed.
The food was very good. Only suggestions would be to improve the cocktail quality and add some seasonings to the sides (mashed potatoes, asparagus), and the shrimp and scallops.
Overall, we will be returning for our second time!
Outstanding restaurant in a beautiful location. Well worth the cost, train passed by us while we're eating and the food was delicious. Prices were correlated with the value of food.
I was a little skeptical at first because I made a reservation before the February first, which was before indoor seating was available. The greeters gave me a sigh of relief when they allowed us to seat indoors. The waiter was great and the food was amazing. I would definitely come back for date night in the future.
Great service...food could have been better for the price
Went there for Valentine's dat. The food was fantastic and the service was also good. Will go there again
I have always enjoyed the food at Gandy Dancer. It's my go to place for a romantic night out. My recent visit left me wanting. There were two issues. 1.) The area I was sitting in was not very clean. When you have to wipe a seat out before sitting down it's not good. Then to look down at the floor and see all the left food crumbs under my feet was upsetting. When you're paying 200 hundred dollars per visit you don't want to feel like you're eating at the local coney island during a lunch rush. The carpet looked run down and in a dire need of an update. 2.) The food was tasty as ever however not enough on the plate. I ordered an item that comes with anchovies with an (s) meaning more than one. I had to ask for more anchovies. My main meal was the Dynomite Mahi, I was disappointed at how small the fish was with 3 pieces of asparagus. I should have ordered a side of asparagus to have a decent amount. I'm am not sure if I will be going back there any time soon. The high cost need to meet the correct portion and quality of food. The place needs to be updated to match the cost of the food. At this point I would not recommend any of my friends or family to go there. This is the first time since going that I've had any complaints. It could be b/c it was Valentines day and they were extremely busy and overlooked things or rushed things. They need to know that sometimes these items are not overlooked by the customer. They staff at the front was not very friendly. Upon leaving I said to the women that were all standing there have a good night and happy valentines day! Not one responded they were all huddled around the computer either not paying attention or didn't care to respond. Lastly, the woman that served us was wonderful and attentive.
The restaurant was fabulous. The meal was delicious and had great options. The waitstaff was so kind and knowledgeable. Desert was wonderful. Highly recommend for a nice dinner out.
This was our 5th or 6th visit and our first time out to a restaurant since August 2020. This is one of our favorite places for special occasions. This visit though the Lobster Tail and Prime Rib were off both in taste and edibility. Even the extra cut of beef given to take home instead of lowering the bill was not up to par. We are hoping our next visit will be better.
