Graduation weekend so a zoo but still great food. Service was great once Daniel took over for Jason
I enjoy this restaurant every time I visit Ann Arbor, the service and food never disappoint.
Always great just like it was when I went to U if M more than 40 years ago.
Much less than meet the eye.
So much ambiance, great service, free parking. I think we just picked a bad day..Graduation at Michigan . However aside from the appetizer, the beef was tough and the plate uninspiring. Felt like a church supper. We felt the service was great but we felt very rushed. It was an anniversary meal, we asked for a quieter table for two and that did not happen. Overall it had a sports bar feel to the place. We drove over 150 miles to experience not much.
Five of us had lunch following an early graduation ceremony. Food was very good, although the male graduate could have used a larger portion size. Service was excellent, although somehow one member of the party thought we were only ordering appetizers, not our meals, and ended up not getting an entree. Not sure that it was the server's responsibility to clarify, but... a small disappointment. I was happy to be able to get lunch from the regular menu, and not the special Commencement one. We had a lovely, memorable meal, and especially enjoyed our window seats.
Our anniversary dinner was superb and we were greeted with custom personalized menus noting our special occasion. The Gandy Dancer is our favorite Ann Arbor restaurant.
Our first time at Gandy Dancer and we thoroughly enjoyed. Service was perfected to top notch, I would certainly compare it to any New York five star. The atmosphere was fun, energetic, full of life and made one feel like dancing, hence 'Gandy Dancer!' All I can say about the specialty drinks and wine list is this, if you can’t find something, it’s your problem. The food, ah the food. What can I say, divine and we will be back, and we’re bringing our friends and family!
Complete and total dining FAILURE! Have never had a dining experience as disappointing as the one we experienced for our anniversary dinner at Gandy Dancer. The good news is that there are many other fine restaurants to take out business to!!
This was my first time enjoying the Sunday Brunch. The food choices were abundant. Our reservation was right on time and the table was by the window. Our waitress, Hannah, was attentive and delightful.
We had a great time here. I got a mango ice tea cocktail- so good. Dinner was lovely I enjoyed my salad too
Great atmosphere and delicious food! Very nice for a special occasion.
I stopped in after a Michigan baseball game, obviously that meant the restaurant was not busy since it was 9:15PM and most people had already eaten. Sat at the bar, the bartender Tony was great, very friendly and knows his stuff, not only about the restaurant but about U Michigan and the Detroit Tigers. Good meal, the Hemingway was recommended and was very good, perhaps a bit too much of the rice for me since I don't eat as much anymore but everything was very good. I would recommend the Gandy Dancer and when I next come back to U Michigan, I will visit again
The ambiance was great. The food was delicious. The server was pleasant. Couldn't be happier with our experience.
Sitting by the window behind the stone wall was excellent. Great noise control, privacy. A good experience as always.
The food was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
service was painfully slow and the serving portions were less than generous.
Incredible seafood - best lobster bisque out there to date! Loved seeing the train pass by during dinner.
Had a great dinner here Easter Sunday. It had been a while since I last ate here, and it was every bit as good as I remembered.
I visited the Gandy Dancer with my Grandmother for an Easter Dinner and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious with many seafood and meat options. The atmosphere inside was very entertaining, and the large glass windows allow you to catch every moment as trains roll by. I will definitely be returning in the future.
In spite of it being Easter Sunday and being extremely busy our server was attentive, appetizers and meals were served with appropriate timing and at correct temperatures. A side dish for one of the entrees was forgotten but was quickly brought out after notifying our server.
Wine prices are extremely high. Mark up on most bottles were 3x retail and not the 2x retail restaurants typically charge.
Lives up to the Muir reputation. Fantastic food, great wine pairings and handcrafted cocktails.
I have not been to this restaurant in years. I was really disappointed. The price was high and the food was average.
Went for Easter Brunch. Had a nice table. Service was excellent. Baked oatmeal THE BEST in the world!!!
Beautiful restaurant, view was spectacular! Excellent food!! The Bananas Foster waffles were amazing. Service was very quick and efficient even during busy brunch times. Best restaurant in Ann Arbor!!
At the last minute, we added 2 to our reservation for Easter Brunch. They handled it with ease on a very, very busy day. Kudos to all involved.
Always great atmosphere. And the Sunday brunch is dependable and worth it.
Always a joy to eat at Gandy Dancer!
We usually love everything about Gandy Dancer and have eaten there several times through out the years. Sunday was an exception. First, we were told we could only make reservations for 4 ,(3 weeks in advance)even though we told them we had 4 adults and 1 child. So, we told them OK, we would try and make it work. Our waiter noticed we were struggling a bit and said he would see if he could arrange a larger table for us. That answer was NO and a stern talking to us by the hostess saying we had to make sure we did not encroach upon the table next to us, which by the way, had 6 people sitting at it. She also told us we could only have a 4 seated table because of the large volume of people. We made it work, but noticed a table of 8 on our way out, so clearly they were taking larger reservation numbers. I was VERY disappointed this visit. We our Landry Club members and would just warn others to take note of the rudeness experienced and consideration given on the reservation side. On the positive, our waiter Zak was awesome in working with us...
We were celebrating Easter brunch, the food was fine, not outstanding but a wide variety. The roast beef stand only had end pieces which were dry and tough, the eggs benedict was so tough that with using a steak knife I couldn't cut through the english muffin bottom, the dessert table was really lacking , a small selection which could of come from the local supermarket not even a carrot cake. Our service was really terrible we waited at our table for almost 20 minutes we finally had to ask the hostess for a server, and you could tell she was unhappy about being there, the server not the hostess. We have eaten here several times and have had Easter brunch for the past several years, and had not been disappointed, but this year (2017) unfortunately was different. We spent close to $150.00 for three people including a cocktail. We are Landry's members and didn't receive our dining points either. All in all- not the best dining experience. Next year we will going somewhere else.
This was to be a special meal with our daughter, but the only times made available via Open Table were right when th restaurant opened at 3:30. We went anyway and were surprised to see plenty of tables available by the time we left at around 5p. It would have been much better for our schedule to come at 5-6pm since we drove in from another state. The food itself was OK, but if you can't even shave your own parmesan cheese onto the Caesar salad, you are just plain lazy.
I had the surf and turf which was advertised as beef tenderloin(filet mignon). This was NOT A TENDERLOIN!!! I got ripped off and served the lowest grade of steak I have ever had at a restaurant. Taco Bell has better quality steak. It wasn't by mistake either, this was obvious they decided to pass this hockey puck off hoping I wouldn't say anything and much to my own shame I didn't say anything. I understand a restaurant having a bad night, but this was fraud.
We love the restaurant, and our waitress was very good. The oysters Rockefeller were not up to par and my lobster, while well cooked and presented, was a bit tough and not as flavorful as usual. Out of season, maybe? It was another enjoyable meal there.
Usually really enjoy Gandy Dancer. But menu selections weren't great. Mahi mahi not available (at 6:30?). My wife's halibut was very ordinary. Really disappointing. Will go back for graduation in a few weeks. Hope it is better.
We loved this restaurant!!! The menu was wonderful... many healthy choices. We loved our waiter Mike... he was a lot of fun, full of compliments and very good sense of humor. The building was a beautiful restored train station. The ambience was quiet and dignified. Will definitely go back.
Excellent food with historic ambience. Love it when the train rumbles by and the little bells ring. Service was classy.
Wonderful presentation and taste. Timely service. Fish & asparagus were warm yet crisp.
Tasty bloody. Delicious meal! Attentive service. And the train came by! :)
On our 36th anniversary, my wife and I were treated like old friends. Sean, the host and servers Jeff and his protege John went out of their way to make our meal a memorable one, from recommending the wine to the complementary desert.
The food and service were amazing. I cannot say enough about how good our experience was overall. 5 stars!
Sunday brunch at Gandy Dancer was a lovely and delicious way to break Lenten fast! The selections were numerous and varied, the service was professional and attentive, the champagne/prosecco cocktails were creative, and the old, restored train station was elegant.
One definitely gets their money's worth!!
Make sure to order a made-to-order omelette, much better than the eggs that have been sitting in the chaffing dish.
The Jazz trio was super, but we could only hear them while filling our plates, the music did not carry into our dining room.
