Disappointing. Very busy, so maybe that explains the slower service. Decor and ambiance are awesome. Food wasn’t horrible, just ordinary. Especially the desert. For a fancy place, I hope for more. Chop House and The Standard much better during restaurant week.
We love their happy hour menu. It would be nice it they had more vegetarian options, in general, though. For the price, it kind of leaves vegetarians almost completely out of choices suitable to a restaurant of this caliber.
Every thing was outstanding. The food presentation was superior. The food was spectacular. The service was very friendly and spectacular. We love this place
Loved the Restaurant Week options! The bisque and salmon were here xcellent, and my companion loved her soup and shrimp!
Perfect place for a special occasion!
chocolate dessert was not tasty
shrimp dish was not tasty
salmon was good
We have dined at Gandy Dancer many times since it opened many years ago. It is consistently outstanding for lunch or dinner. We especially don't miss GD during Restaurant Week -- our first stop!
Excellent food and love being in the old train station and seeing trains go past.
An Ann Arbor classic and even though we went for the thrifty restaurant week menu we were treated to what I feel is the finest table service in town! Thank you for the great evening.
Our waiter ,Jay, was exceptional. Food was wonderful the wine was very good And we very much appreciated the valet service
We enjoyed our dinner at Gandy Dancer very much. Excellent car valet service, friendly and welcoming staff at reservation desk and coat check, prompt seating, excellent table service from our waiter (Jay), very good bar drinks, excellent dinner menu, and well prepared and served food including dessert. We highly recommend Gandy Dancer.
Overall I would not recommend eating here. Out of a three course meal for three people only 1 item I would recommend and that was the Martha’s Vineyard Salad. Everything was overpriced
Hannah was delightful.
The Gandy Dancer is one of our very favorite restaurants! The staff has always gone out of their way to make us feel welcome and valued. It's a fantastic place with wonderful food.
Food was ok. There are better places.. Like the setting, but not our table...was not comfortable and too close to other tables, it felt that we were passed by around ...Celebrated birthday and special menu was given that is for everyone saying Happy Birthday! pretty basic... wish that menu have a name and could kept as a gift... many places make birthday more special ...with little things ... But we had nice evening overall and this is just our honest opinion.. It was our first time at this restaurant.
We go to the Gandy Dancer every year for our anniversary, as well as other special occasions. Usually it is reliably good, but this time the food was very disappointing. I ordered my usual ultimate seafood mixed trio. The shrimp was good, but the crabcake was pretty fishy tasting and just so-so, and the salmon was terrible. I'm not normally one to send things back, but when our waiter asked how things were and i told him the salmon was bad he offered to replace it with a new piece. The new piece was a little better (but really tiny portion), but it was still bad. I didn't have the heart to send it back again, so i just said it was okay. It smelled really unappetizing, had no noticeable flavor (was supposed to be tarragon mustard glaze), and didn't even really taste like salmon. Really disappointing. My husband ordered the scallops with shrimp. The portion was ridiculously tiny - just 2 medium-sized shrimp and 4 medium-sized scallops and a scoop of mushy sticky risotto without much flavor. The shrimp tasted good, and the flavor of the scallops was good too, though they were undercooked. Overall just a surprisingly disappointing food experience. The service was wonderful as always, so i i have no complaints in that area. Even though the restaurant was empty they did seat us right next to another table, which was weird, and the guy was a loud talker at table next to us. We will still go back, since it has been great in the past, and hopefully next time will be more like what we have come to expect.
Birthday. It was quiet and peaceful.
Food was no where near the great standard I've previously experienced at the Gandy Dancer. Appetizer and dessert where terrific. Not one of the entrees was up to par. Very disappointing.
Brunch was good but basic, no added flare in food (presenation/creativity) would rather spend that much at another restaurant, drinks were the highlight- reasonably priced and worth the buck.
We dined near the end of the evening on New Year's Day so I think the staff was winding down from a busy couple of days. The lobster bisque and wedge salad were excellent. My fiance got the surf and turf which he very much enjoyed (although it seemed to me that the lobster tail was under-done). I got the prime rib and coconut shrimp. The shrimp was delicious but I wish there was an actual dipping sauce instead of a light drizzle. My prime rib did not seem very fresh (some of the fat on the outer portions of the meat was cold and white) and was unusually raw and full of silver skin - not buttery fat. I ended up with a pile of fat and meat scraps on the plate that I couldn't cut with my steak knife! Again, chalking that up to being one of the last few to have prime rib until the next weekend.
The lava cake dessert was delicious although the cake part was not warm. I don't know if it was supposed to be like that? Didn't stop me from licking the plate!
I didn't say anything to the server about the food because the table behind me was already complaining. I'm sure they would've made it right had I said something.
Although the food is expensive, I'd totally go back and try a different dish! The lobster bisque alone was THAT good.
Excellent food and service would recommend and return
I have been going to Gandy Dancer for over 20 years and it never disappoints. It has a great atmosphere and the food is delicious. It is a very nice restaurant and the prices reflect that status, so it is more on the expensive side, but I've never found it to be unreasonable. It is a great place to have a "special occasion."
I hadn't been to Gandy Dancer for a few years, sadly the food was very disappointing. Seafood tasted like it was frozen from Gordon's Food Service. Our service and server, Dave, was fabulous, not sure what happened to the quality of food though.
We had a lovely New Year's Eve dinner at The Gandy Dancer! The food was scrumptious and we were seated right at our reservation time. Our server made the entire experience a delight.
We've eaten at Gandy Dancer several times; but this last time was just so, so.
We will go back though for another try.
We love The Gandy Dancer for special occasions. This time it was New Year's Eve. It has become an annual occasion for us. As usual everything about our visit was outstanding. It did not seem as crowded as usual for NYE. Our server, Julie was great! Very friendly, helpful and attentive. Once again the restaurant exceeded our expectations!
We had an excellent time New Years Eve. I am very impressed how the staff was able to serve us with not problems at all on such a busy night. From being seats to walking out the door at the end was a seamless evening. Your staff is AMAZING!!! Professional and efficient..
Great night, great food and an excellent dining experience. We were rushed at first, but after telling them to slow down they made the night as enjoyable as we needed thank you.
Amazing! Will be back soon
We love the Gandy dancer restaurant and decided to go there on New Year’s Eve. We were very happy with our selections. My husband had the prime rib which was done to perfection. I had shrimp scampi, which I absolutely loved. We had calamari for an appetizer, which had a sweet and spicy sauce. And for dessert we had Keylime pie, which is one of our favorites. We sat by the windows in the garden room, our tradition, and simply had a lovely evening. Our waitress was superb and tended to our every need. I highly recommend this classy and nastalgic restaurant to anyone new in the area, and if you haven’t been there for a while, GO!
Excellent service, Great Menu
Thanks for making the start of the New Year perfect!
The Gandy Dancer is extremely expensive for the quality and portions offered. We will not be back. Disappointing.
It was my mothers 89 th birthday. The food at the brunch was excellent. The service was wonderful also. In addition the live music was enjoyable.
Impeccable service and great selection of food.
Great experience. Wait staff was attentive and met all our needs. We made some substitutions and all were done correctly as we ordered. Shrimp cocktail is best around - not watery and firm tasty shrimp. Bread is amazing. Lobster bisque soup is best we've ever had. Crab was excellent. Would highly recommend Gandy Dancer.
Excellent food and service, our server was very accommodating.
Very good food, everytime. Tried the almond encrusted brie as an appetizer, and it was phenominal.
Great waiter - enjoyed food
