Fabulous meal at one of our favorite places - saw two trains race by - one headed for Detroit and the other for Chicago.

Service was incredible! Our reservation indicated we were celebrating our anniversary; everyone greeted us with anniversary wishes and they presented us with specially printed menus with an anniversary greeting at rhe top. Our server, Joshua, was friendly and very knowledgeable and provided wonerful insight to the catch of the day dishes.

The Gandy Dancer has always been a favorite of ours. This time in celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary was somewhat disappointing. Usually they acknowledge it at the front desk and special menus but not this time. Warm and friendly at the front desk but then the waiter, who was very knowledgeable and suggested some great things, forgot to serve out appetizer he recommended. It kind of put a damper on things. New cocktails were nice to try and the food was very nicely prepared.
Will return but with an open eye.

Really disappointed. It has been years since here. Food totally mediocre steak ordered very rare cane back medium rare then next time not very rare. Gave up. Asparagus tough and old. Never come again.

We dine here once a year to celebrate my deceased mothers birthday because it was one of her favorite places to go to dinner. The staff was very friendly and courteous and we were seated as soon as we arrived. The restaurant was not overly to busy for a Sunday. The New fashion cocktail I ordered was very well made and divine but took a while to get for some reason. Then We ordered Tempura fried Lobster bites which was good except I thought the batter was to thick. The salads came next and I ordered the wedge which was very good. The blue cheese on it along with their dressing made it tasty. Then for dinner I ordered the pacific Halibut which was Parmesan encrusted. I love halibut and I thought that having the encrusted would be good but it was just okay. I thought the Parmesan would have gave the halibut some pizzazz but was disappointed unfortunately. The whole dinner itself was good and the only other thing was our wait staff could of improved on was being a little more attentive. Me and my guest thought they were a little slow on getting our cocktails and filling empty water glasses.

The Gandy is always fun. You cannot beat the atmosphere which is created by the beautiful setting. We were there for Sunday brunch. There was a wide variety of food to choose from and we were all very full when we left. Although I did not try them, the waffle station was a hit with some in our group.

We had a wonderful time celebrating my Mom’s Birthday by partaking of their Sunday Brunch. Such a nice variety of delicious food and best of all made to order omelettes delivered to your table. Pleasant background music played live. Adam was pur waiter and was the perfection of attentive, friendly and informative. Thank you for a wonderful morning:)

Nice , but way over priced for Sunday brunch. Seriously, $14.00 for a 2 year old? And I am sure that the last few times we were there for brunch it was only 20.00 per person not 27.00

I think our sever had too many tables. Not her fault, though. We should’ve been given to a sever with less on her plate. Drinks took much too long.

Beautiful restaurant but the food was disappointing. For this level of restaurant you can expect more fancy ways to prepare it. I missed very much the proper usage of spices.

The food preparation was uninspiring. My seared scallops must have been seared with a 40watt bulb, only slightly brown in color and lacking and flavor except a hint of lemon; the asparagus couscous, roasted shiitakes and spring pea purée was a flavorless mush. My wife’s pepper crusted tenderloin medallions, while tender, were grey in color, also flavorless, resembling the color of meat being microwaved. The reggiano potato croquettes had the appearance, flavor and texture of leftover mashed potatos, shaped into patties and grilled. Something my mom would prepare on “leftover night”, when I was a kid.

To top it all off, both of us had gastro-discomfort that evening. This might have been caused by either the bree appetizer we shared, or the lobster bisque we both had.

The wait service was excellent, prompt and attentive. Sadly, this restaurant, this staff, needs a better chief.

Gandy Dancer is my benchmark for outstanding service, ambiance (live light jazz and warm historic building presentation and two passing trains) in addition to a splendid plethora of brunch delights. It is an establishment that I brag about where I have "my usual table".

Really unique atmosphere eating in an old train station, but some tables are better than others. Service and wine list were the standouts. Both were excellent with our server nailing the right way to perform a wine service. Food was the low point. Ours was bland and over cooked to the point of cardboard or rubber, depending on the dish. Sad because everything else was nice. Still worth a try though to eat in an old classic train station!

I think I found my new favorite restaurant! Gandy Dancer has been around much longer than I have but I just discovered it. My husband and I came to dinner to celebrate my last day of work. We shared 3 appetizers and an entree. The crab and avocado timbale and dynamite scallops were absolutely incredible! We also had the almond encrusted brie. It was tasty but not a necessity to get. We shared the ultimate seafood mixed trio. Everything was cooked to perfection and it was all just amazing. The crab cake was my favorite. I can't wait to go back to try more!

Gandy Dancer has long been one of my favorite dining destinations in Ann Arbor. Our last couple of experiences have, sadly, changed our opinion. The quality of the food has dropped significantly.
On the most recent occasion, the service and atmosphere were charming as always. My cocktail was delicious and my escargot was fine. My halibut was a mess. It was one of the chef’s recommended preparations - listed as pan roasted with romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes and mushrooms. The fish came out looking pale, unseasoned and certainly not roasted. It was tasteless, mushy and the accompanying mushrooms were still raw. I think the halibut was either poached or steamed, but certainly not roasted. I only ate half of this $39 meal - such a waste.
I’m not sure I will make a return trip here for dinner. We may visit the lounge for their tasty cocktails and appetizers.

My only concern was that the water in the women's restroom was very hot. My granddaughter (only 2) went to wash her hands and said hot grandma. I tested the water and it was too hot for even me to use. I called Gandy Dancer on Saturday and let them know.

My wife's filet mignon was over cooked. The waitress took it back to have it redone, but left my meal. Consequently, my meal got cold as I would not eat it until my wife's meal returned. When the manager brought my wife's meal back he appologized for the mishap. When my wife commented on my meal getting cold while we waited, he offered to take it back and warm it for me. I refused as it seemed like we would be entering a vicious circle.

Had a WONDERFUL time for my anniversary. Both my husband and I had the “Slow Roasted” Prime Rib and it was absolutely delicious. The ambiance was great, even the clapping when each train passed; a wonderful tradition. Luis was our waiter and suggested very tasty meals for us as first timers. Will definitely be back! Thanks Gandy Dancer for the free Creme Brûlée for our anniversary as well. Made us feel super special.

We have driven past this place for 20 years and finally decided for our 20th anniversary we would eat dinner here. It was everything we imagined and more. I had prime rib and my wife had seafood. We both loved the food and said we wished we hadn't waited 20 years to try it! Our waitress was the best we have had in years. Very nice, took care of our needs without being over bearing and they even gave us a creme brule' for our anniversary. We will certainly be back in the future and highly recommend it to our family and friends.
