Food excellent. Best Margarita I have ever had. Waiter - great service.
All I can say is great food and service. A+ In every way.
Overall I thought meal was not worth the price charged. I preferred Weber’s where we ate next night. EG shrimp cocktail was $15 for 5 med size shrimp. At Weber’s was $10 for 5 very large shrimp.
This was my second time returning to the Gandy Dancer and I am impressed as ever! Fantastic service as usual. I was blown away by the attention to detail of every employee knowing that it was our anniversary and specially printed menus! Everything was amazing and we will definitely be returning again.
service was overbearing and amateur, food was average at best, however the desert was great. The location is cool.
We were celebrating our anniversary. Right from the moment we walked in and was greeted with a "Happy Anniversary" greeting, we knew our anniversary dinner would be special. Our menus were personalized, our server and manager congratulated us on our anniversary, the food we ordered was delicious, plus they gave us a special dessert to help make our experience at the Gandy Dancer a very special one. We had a wonderful time. Thank you one and all at the Gandy Dancer.
The experience was amazing. I really enjoyed. They made my wife’s birthday special.
Exceptional service from our wait staff, excellent food. I highly recommend the restaurant, you won’t be disappointed!
We were celebrating our anniversary. We were seated among large groups. We asked to be moved after we have been seated several minutes they had absolutely no problem with it. They took us to the more romantic part of the restaurant and treated us with the utmost respect. I really appreciated that.
Immediately upon arrival we were greeted by the host, she checked our reservation noting our special occasion and thanked us for selecting Gandy Dancer for our celebration. The location of the table we were seated at was perfect, nice views, and tables were a reasonable distance from one another to insure noise levels were low. The wait staff was very welcoming, professional and helpful with menu selections. Our dinners were excellent as we topped our dinner off with a delicious dessert. Thank you Sarah for helping to make our anniversary so special!
My wife and I had lunch here for my birthday. We had both visited the Gandy Dancer before, but more than thirty years ago, almost in different lifetimes. The food was excellent and the service was impeccable, just as it was so long ago. We ordered a single slice of key lime pie to share for dessert, but they also brought a serving of Creme Brulee with a single birthday candle for me, "on the house"!
When we want a nice date/dinner in Ann Arbor, the Gandy Dancer always comes through We were treated special from the moment we walked in till the time we left Very enjoyable experience w great food
My wife and I have dined at the Gandy Dancer many times. It is a favorite "special place" we can go to have excellent food, with great service, in an elegant setting, with a spectacular view. I always leave thinking, "that was expensive, but well worth the cost." We've never been remotely disappointed. Thanks, Gandy Dancer crew. Until next time....
The food was delicious
We went to brunch with grandkids. Everyone was very happy with the meal. Ambience is lovely and the service was great. I would recommend it highly. One slight criticism -- we gone here for at least 30 years and the food is not quite as well prepared as it was years ago. We still love it.
07/07/18 Anniversary. Had an excellent dinner. Waiter John was very attentive. Would recommend the crab and avocado appetizer. Got menus wishing us Happy Anniversary that we took home and given a delicious creme brûlée. Highly recommend.
Party of four. Ordered one appetizer, two soups, two salads, four entrees. Everything was fresh, tasty, beautifully presented, served with a smile. A++ Our second visit. We will return.
Great seafood dinner in a beautiful setting. The appetizers were particularly tasty.
We were extremely pleased with our night out at Gandy Dancer. We had lobster for 6 people. The waiter was stellar. He even helped to crack the lobsters. It was a special occasion, my son’s birthday. We had the best time. Our table was near the historic railroad tracks. It was a perfect evening.
Excellence from the front door to the table and back. Top notch establishment.
It was a very nice experience. Great food and service. Brunch is pricey, but would go again.
We enjoyed the special appetizer! The pecan encrusted whitefish was very good.
The service and food are always excellent when we diner here.
Delicious scallops, snapper, and salmon with creative sides. Good salad. Not too noisy so could talk with our visiting family. Love the view inside and out.
I selected the Gandy Dancer for our anniversary and am so glad I did... the service was great as was the food. You will want to put it on your «bucket list » of places to go if you’ve never been. Also, remember to clap when the Amtrak goes by as you relive the nostalgia of another time!
Unfortunately, the beef tenderloin was not prepared as “medium.” Two of the three medallions were over cooked. I sent it back once and when the second plate was served, it was also over cooked. Our server did her best to accommodate, unfortunately management did not. I know everyone has a bad day; the response from the second manager was dismissive, to the point of implying incompetent knowledge of meat preparation.
Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone has bad days. The attitude from Tony, one of the managers on staff, was disappointing and unnecessary. I’ve worked in the Service industry (front and back of house). My friend with me owns a bar and restaurant. We understand things happen. The way you respond is the mark of the class of an establishment.
On this visit, the Gandy Dancer, unfortunately missed the mark.
The bread served was dry like it was yesterday’s bread. I dropped my small crab fork at the beginning of my meal and never saw a server so I could get it replaced until after my meal. The staff was friendly. I’ve eaten here before several years ago but the food quality and attentiveness is now far below what I would expect from a restaurant that charges the prices it does. I will not eat here again.
An enjoyable dinner with delicious food and prompt service.
The brunch is top notch. As is the regular dinner menu. The service is top notch.
This was our 39th anniversary & first time at Gandy Dancer. We’ve been to many very fine eateries around the world; our experience at Gandy Dancer was without hesitation one of the nicest & enjoyable in memory! From the moment we arrived we were treated like VIPs. Our server, Luis, was the epitome of professionalism, knowledge, & charm. The menu specializes in seafood but offers an excellent & varied selection, as does the wine list. Our dishes, grilled salmon & scallops, both served with locally sourced vegetables & superb sauces, were expertly executed & presented. Combined with the charming ambiance of a 1900 train station, my wife and I had a romantic & delightfully delicious experience. We can confidently give Gandy Dancer our highest recommendation & look forward to returning soon!
It was our first time there, celebrating a new job. Everyone was so congratulatory! The food and service was outstanding! We will absolutely go back. We even saw a deer walking outside the window! Great location!
Overall the food and service were very disappointing.
While the waiter acknowledged the special occasion we were celebrating, we were often neglected while he carried on what seemed like personal conversations with other tables. We waited for about 15min before getting a glass of wine; he resisted making side dish substitutions (even though I was willing to pay extra); he brought our meal before we were finished with our salad; he did not offer us dessert or coffee before bringing the free birthday dessert (which we were not notified about nor did we ask for it to be delivered). We generally felt ignored and rushed.
The food was slightly better than the service, but still disappointing overall. The raw oysters, watermelon salad, Martha's vineyard salad, and the scallops were all pretty good. The broiled snapper, however, was basically diner-fish. It was literally just a fish fillet with butter dumped over it, white rice, and roasted potatoes. There was no garnish or sauce of any kind. The plate was completely beige - just like the flavor of each component.
We have come to expect a much higher level of food and service at this price-point. It is obvious The Gandy Dancer is simply surviving off it's long-past reputation and the current excellence of the other Muer restaurants, e.g., Meriwether's and Big Fish. Our Gandy Dancer experience was not even close to that of it's sister establishments. If you are looking for a celebration-type dinner, go somewhere else.
The beautiful historical surroundings of the building are wonderful! Excellent service and very good food!
One of the best lunches I have ever had - great food and great service
Awesome it was great. Xxxxxxxx.
Lovely experience, a little pricey but my wife and I enjoyed every minute of our Anniversary!
We went for Fathers Day and it was our first experience there. The service was great, the food was delicious and flavorful and the atmosphere was outstanding. The calamari was fabulous, the prime rib was tender and juicy and the filet and lobster was superb! The free valet parking was a bonus and the young gentlemen working were super friendly and fast! We will definitely be back again.
A wonderful Father’s Day celebration with my family.
