Gandy Dancer is always great. Great food and service we always enjoy coming back.
The food was good however the shrimp was very over cooked.
Great lunch for our 25th anniversary! Calamari, Lobster Bisque, and poppy seed rolls were top notch. Hostess and Waitress were super nice and attentive! The creme brulee was fantastic. Will be back for sure.
The only bad thing is the trash outside just beyond the railroad tracks. Needs to be better maintained.
First time going to the Gandy Dancer and service was great, food was awesome, but unfortunately the temperature of veggies and rice was low not hot but still good
Great Food & Service!
Friends birthday
I had reservations set up 3 weeks in advance but when we arrived the hostess told us that the dining room was all booked so we could sit in the bar area that appeared to be first come first serve because she didn’t take us to the table. We sat at a high top table in the bar area. Our waiter John was excellent and the food was good. My only complaint is that they don’t have a side salad to order with the meal just dinner size salads. When we left we again asked the hostess why with a reservation were we not seated in the dining room and she said when you make a reservation you have to request the main seating area. I didn’t know that because it was my first time there. It was very strange. The manager then said that they book up 3 weeks in advance but we had a reservation?? The bar area did get very loud.
My only advice would be to add the Valet Parking tip to the bill! I felt bad that I could not tip the Valet attendant, since I had no cash. I'm guessing that they are getting used to not getting paid since almost no one has cash anymore??? That really needs to be fixed and not ignored.
Great spot to eat in Ann Arbor, great menu and the service is top notch!
This is my favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor. Always exceeding my expectations!! Excellent service and not matter what you order everything is delicious 💕
A lovely Easter dinner was had by all. Food was delicious, atmosphere was fantastic, and from a covid safety culture perspective there were no worries.
After spending $179 for two for an Easter dinner that was beyond disappointing, I am still feeling bummed out about the experience. I tend to eat out a lot and going out to dinner should be an experience on every level. At these prices the food was less than adequate and the steak was brought out over cooked, with a strange ‘charred after taste,’ when the order was ‘medium.’ I sat and waited for them to recook my steak as my partner ate ‘fishy smelling’ snapper. Potatoes were no better than those at a KFC and the poor anchovies in the Caesar were swimming in dressing. Waited for water and bread. What more can I say? What a bust...I just moved here and could not be more disappointed in a restaurant that is supposed to be ‘an institution.’
I hadn't been to the Gandy Dancer in years, but going back felt as though time stood still. It was every bit as opulent and historic as I remember - both the exterior and interior. The food and service were as exceptional as I remember it, contributing to a memorable and pleasurable dining experience.
I had the mussels appetizer along with the Prime Rib entree with whipped potatoes and asparagus and everything was cooked to perfection. Same with the Eggs Benedict ordered by my wife and mother-in-law. I definitely plan to come back more frequently, as it was reminder of just how many restaurants miss the mark on delivering a complete dining experience.
I quite like this restaurant. Yummy food, good service very accommodative of my wife’s dairy allergy. They manage to get good oysters up here and the menu is well balanced although I do miss the Easter buffet and hope that in a year or two we shall see it again...prime rib also very well made, even though this is primarily a seafood restaurant
We were disappointed that the waffle options as stated in the on line Easter Brunch menu were not available. We totally get the COVID restrictions prevented the traditional and awesome typical GD brunch buffet, but the plate offerings went from 5 to 3 when the waffle options went away and one in our party planned on the waffle.
Otherwise we enjoyed our hour meal! Out is less than 90 minutes as required!
Prime rib was very fatty, the basket of rolls had a long dark hair in it (we are all blonde) the eggs were a bit over some on the crab cake Benedict, service was slow but our server was very pleasant.
Great experience as always. Missed the brunch but understood due to COVID. Food was outstanding as usual.
they have never let us down. Awesome establishment
Great service. Excellent experience. Great food and best duck i’ve ever had. Order it!
The Gandy Dancer is a fantastic restaurant! I went here with my boyfriend for my birthday and had the best experience! The staff seated us at a private and romantic spot of our choosing and served us in a timely fashion. The calamari and fish were delicious and cooked perfectly! We truly enjoyed ourselves and will most definitely be coming back!
Excellent experience to celebrate our 46th Anniversary.
The food, as always, was so yummy!! And our server was friendly and attentive without hovering!!
Everything was great except that I had requested a custom made desert which I did not get.
Excellent service and food. A great place to celebrate our wedding anniversary... complete with menus that said Happy Anniversary.
Our waiter made my husband's birthday special with the extra attention. The food was a bit cold & the salmon was small but the chocolate cake was HUGE and it was very enjoyable all around.
The food was very good as expected. The server was not as professional as you would expect for the Gandy Dancer. She repeatedly reached across us when serving.
We came to eat and celebrate two birthdays. We had a group
of eight so we were sat at two tables that were next to each other. The food was excellent as was the service.
Good times
The food and service were exceptional!
Birthday dinner! Hostess, Vanessa was very accommodating with our seating preferences. We felt a bit rushed, our waitress could have slowed down and been more friendly. No special dessert treat for the birthday girl was a little disappointing.
Food and ambience was great, but server kept forgetting to pour wine for us and bring us bread and crackers.
It is our favorite.
I was so impressed that my menu said happy birthday on it! I loved that personal little touch. Our server was wonderful, and everything we ordered was amazing.
Great! Good service with ambiance and good food!
Waiter was perfect and everyone enjoyed steaks to sea bass! Accommodated our party size and quiet setting.
Everything was awesome
Chilean sea bass and the prime rib were fantastic.
This place is AMAZING! Lobster bisque is so unique but so good! I also had the dynamite Mahi Mahi and it was to die for!!! Will go back everyone we are in Ann arbor! It is pricey but sooooo worth it!
I was a little disappointed... the menu was not really impressive... the coconut shrimp preparation was very bland. The crab cake on my seafood trio dish was extremely dry...
We attended the restaurant with my daughter and her friends for her 17th birthday. The 4 of them sat at another table next to us. Our server up sold them entree salads to go with their New York Strip, and then after we declined dessert, she proceeded to ask the table of teenagers if they wanted to see the dessert menu. They were asked if they wanted a salad to go with their meal. They all assumed that this was part of their entree. I would not have minded if things were offered ala carte, but we knew they weren’t. I was also disappointed because the food was not great and the mashed potato’s tasted liked they had instant potato’s as filler. Will not be back, sadly.
