Birthday was very fun
Great place, one of our favorites. Felt safe after reopening during pandemic, all protocols were followed.
Food was great, fish tasted as if I were next to the Atlantic. Great touch for special occasions.
It was a dinner for my husbands birthday. It was very enjoyable. Service was wonderful.
Service and food was excellent as expected. A specific mention to Gandy Dancer for having taking all the necessary precautions to ensure that clientele feel safely distanced and are offered a safe dining experience. The wait staff in particular was attentive to the post-COVID opening concerns of patrons. The menu, slightly shortened, offered enough choices as well as the usual seafood favorites (crab cakes, lobster, snapper).
This was our first experience here. The food and service was outstanding! We had a beautiful view of the railroad during dinner. Our server provided frequent service and made our overall experience quite a great. We will come back!
The "Dancer" provides he required COVID precautions - tables have been spaced apart properly. The food was good but not worth the very high prices. The restaurant is heavy in seafood with little choice for meat lovers. The ambience is pleasant; the noise level low. I would recommend the "Dancer" for special occasions, when one is willing to blow a wad of dough on a meal.
Good and service was excellent. Strange times but so wonderful to enjoy a lovely meal out!
Father’s Day
Great Father’s Day lunch with my husband!
Great staff !! We love that place.
As they say the best or nothing. Great service and truly delicious food. Yes, you have to pay for it.
Food was OK at best...I left disappointed overall. I read such high remarks and was not impressed by experience. I made specific notes in my reservation that were left unnoticed. Our server was very friendly and attentive...I do not fault him for our experience at all.
For being an Ann Arbor institution, I think Gandy Dancer really fell short. We were told we HAD to try the coconut shrimp. So, we gave it a whirl. Literally 5 sad looking breaded shrimp made their way out. This was $13.
Our waiter was overworked and did his best, but was running around ragged. Overall, it was fine. I'll give them one more chance, maybe things were a little rough from opening back up after the shutdown.
We've been to Gandy Dancer several times in the last few years, but this was the first time since the COVID-19 lockdown. The restaurant and staff were outstanding from start to finish in both service and implementing safety precautions. I wish the wine pricing was a little leaner, but selection is good. Two of us had lobster bisque (absolutely fabulous) and planked salmon w. asparagus. The seasoning of the fish was spot on, but just a tad overdone, a common problem with salmon. Nevertheless, most enjoyable. My wife had crab cake appetizer and Martha's vineyard salad, both superb. My roasted lobster with asparagus was delicious, again a tad overdone but still satisfying. Our server, Hannah, treated us like royalty and was most attentive without being intrusive. Altogether, the wonderful train station ambiance and the spectacular service made our experience a delight.
Fantastic first time back to the Gandy Dancer since March and Covid. My wife and I sat outside and Laura did an outstanding job as our waitress. The food was amazing!!! We knew that we missed the GD, but we didn’t realize how much.
Ordered two entrées, soup, salad, and two appetizers. Everything was great, with the exception of one entrée, the Hemingway
Reunion with old friends
The experience was phenominal!!!
Food was great. Lobster bisque was amazing! My filet was cooked perfectly.
Service was first class.
Three of us had the fish taco and we all found them bland and uninspired.
Everything was perfect, the menu on the open table application was different than the menu at the restaurant
Excellent service, safe environment with social distancing and delicious food
Very friendly and clean, excellent food. Great service and tables spread out for safety.
Great staff and food. Very cautious about social distancing
After the "Stay home" order was lifted, my husband and I wanted to go out on our first date in months and chose Gandy Dancer. We were a bit nervous about eating out with the Covid-19 pandemic, but Gandy Dancer did a great job making us feel safe while enjoying our meal. When we arrived we were greeted by hosts wearing masks. It was required to wear a mask when you walked into the restaurant but you were able to take it off once you were seated. The waitress also wore a mask the entire time she tended to us. We had a pitcher of water on our table to limit the amount of visits. People were spaced out inside and outside the restaurant with reservation signs on empty tables. Food was delicious! I ordered the three seafood combo (salmon, crab cakes, and coconut shrimp) and my husband got a medium rare steak that was cooked just right. We also ordered beverages from the bar which also turned out good. We had a great first date night. We felt comfortable and still received spectacular service. Besides the masks (and the quiet atmosphere) we didn't really see a difference. I highly recommend going to Gandy Dancer when you're ready to eat out again. Oh! and if you forget your mask (like I did) they give you a cloth napkin to wear to make everyone feel safer. Thank you Gandy Dancer!
We have been to Gandy Dance several times. It’s one of our favorites. This was our first dinner at a sit down due to COVID. Friday evening - not tremendously busy. Our waiter was very impersonal and set the blah tone early on. Strange as we assumed that staff probably is just getting back and figured they’d be happy. I ordered the seafood trio. Worst overcooked salmon I have had. Not flakey - bone dry - I could have tossed it and it wouldn’t have broken apart. The shrimp was ok. Crab cake good. The veggies were nothing spectacular. Very Red Lobster level quality. My wife’s Prive rib was just meh. I realize some places have an off night but I was surprised due to recent opening and lack of customers that this was what we paid for.
Perfect as always!!! The menu is limited for now. The Cajun chicken tortellini was amazing.
Outstanding atmosphere, great food and great service.
Excellent birthday dinner for first time eating in a restaurant in Michigan since March. Staff prepared and friendly. Dining room set up for social distancing. Server attentive. Food delicious.
It was nice to be back at a restaurant, but things are just different. I found myself frustrated that the waiter was wearing a mask with his nose fully exposed and that the portions were considerably smaller for an appetizer while advertised exactly how it was before. I understand restaurants took a major hit and don't mind paying more, but feel they should be transparent if things are going to reduced in half in size or through increased prices so customers know what to expect and can order accordingly.
Went in for happy hour with some friends, sat in the restaurant and ordered before we were told that happy hour prices are only available in the bar/lounge area. Never been to a restaurant that restricts happy hour to the bar. Staff was friendly and nice about it but there was only one other group in the entire restaurant so not sure why they couldn’t do it. Would have liked to enjoy the view rather than being put in the dark corner that they use for the bar. Drinks were awesome, apps were small even for the price. You need at least one per person if you want more than a bite or two. Maybe I’ll be back for dinner sometime.
With then inpending resturant ban we were able to get in and have our cancelled graduation dinner/birthday all at once. The staff was excellant for not knowing if they would be working the next day. The food was awesome and i wish to go again when all this is over. Cudos again to the everyone there that night.....
It's been a long time since my previous visit to Gandy Dancer and I will definitely be returning soon. The food was fantastic and the cocktails were great. Our waiter was friendly, albeit a little odd. There were a couple of times we thought he was making a very dry joke, but probably wasn't. The atmosphere here is lively with an elegant feel. It was my girlfriend's first visit and she was very impressed. I would recommend a visit to the Gandy Dancer!
We’ve been coming to TheGandy Dancer for 52 years! Wow! It is always great and one of our favorite restaurants! Keep it going! Cindy and Charley Ireland
The staff (Waiter, Waleed), made our evening for my Dad’s 83rd birthdsy very special. The menu had a personalized birthday greeting and was wrapped up with a bow for him when we left. Of course seeing two traons go by was perfect!
Fantastic crab cakes nice train station great service
We spend every special event for dinner at the Gandy Dancer. For our 51st anniversary which fell on a Sunday we chose to have Sunday Brunch for the very first time. It was wonderful with an exquisite presentation.
What a wonderful spur-of-the-moment treat. We used to visit Gandy Dancer frequently. However, we left the area years ago and though we visited a few times after , the place was in decline. Happy to see it back in its proper place as a premier dining establishment. Landrys can polish up any old place.
On this occasion, brunch was on the menu. Mandatory carving station with the requisite protiens, ham, beef, turkey. All delicious. Dessert table was beautiful though I did not partake. Breakfast offerings were the usual. Bacon, sausages, biscuits and gravy, eggs Benedict and salmon Rockefeller headline the offerings. And the "clover" which comprised cold appetizers included peel-and-eat shrimp, P.E.I. mussels, smoked as well as Cajun spiced salmon, fresh fruit and green salad. Not to be missed is the fresh-made Belgium waffles with crazy delicious toppings and chef-made omelets.
All food was above board, but the service was so good, the food seemed to suffer in comparison. Our server, Rodney, was on his 5-star game. Never, ever, have I had such a wonderful, made-me-feel-like-royalty dining experience. Every time I left to get a new plate, my service was refreshed, water refilled and Rodney was back to check on us and to enquire about the food. Absolutely sublime. And at $29/pp, are you kidding me?
The price does not include alcoholic bevs, so no bottomless mimosas, etc. However, quality drinks are available so one does not subject themselves to garbge Korbel-and -tang-like mimosas and Mohawk and tomato juice bloody Marys.
All in all a really lovely brunch at a beautiful venue with stellar service
Great experience!
Great food.
Daria did a great job. Spasiba,
