I was not impressed with our dinner last night. My chicken and mash potatoes were both dry and another person from our party had a different chicken dish and said the chicken was dry as well. Two people had fish entrees and said they were great. So we had mixed reviews. We had 6:30 pm reservations and didn't get out of there until almost 8:30 pm. I made the earlier reservation because it was a school night. I like a leisurely meal, but this was just to slow for me. For the cost, I was unimpressed. The portions were small and you didn't even get a salad with your entree. Our waiter and the staff were very nice, I just don't have any desire to go back.

First time dining with the Gandy Dancer and all expectations were exceeded …. So much so we came back the next evening after the football game at The Big House , sat at the bar and had drinks and dinner … the bartenders were wonderful !! Came all the way from Maine and can’t wait to come back to Ann Arbor to visit and done with you again !!

A great Sunday evening dinner. Excellent waitstaff service from Zoe. Atmosphere is great in this old train station. Food is wonderfully prepared and presented.

Love this place . Known for seafood but my husband ordered prime rib which was sinewy. He had already eaten half when he realized the second half was pretty tough so he didn’t make a big deal. Still , for the price it should have been super tender . Staff was great

Great food and service. We visit the Gandy Dancer a few times a year when we celebrate a special occasion or want a fine dining experience. The pomegranate martinis are our favorite drink. We’ve tried a lot of dishes on the menu and have a hard time picking our favorite. The shrimp and snapper and Mahi Mahi are highly recommended.

Awful service. I had to ask for a waiter after being seated for 30 minutes. He acted beyond annoyed to wait on us. We were dressed nice. There were only 4 tables to serve, so it wasn’t busy. I’m so confused why Tony was so very rude to us.

Had Fish and Chips and Fish Taco's, along with a Caesar Salad for lunch on a recent Saturday. As usual, food was excellent. More than enough to take home for another meal. Tony, our Server was great, seemed able to anticipate our every need. Don't usually comment on the Valet Service, but our valet on Saturday was excellent, at the end even asked us if we enjoyed our meal. As noted earlier, unusual to comment on the Valet Service but this was unusually personable and worth noting.

The food and service was great (I had the sole, my husband had the salmon). We are usually seated by the window in a quieter room. Unfortunately our luck ran out and we were seated in a small louder area. We still had a fabulous time.

Fantastic way for my husband and me to celebrate launching our freshman at UM! It was all I remembered from 30 years ago when I was a graduate. Terrific seafood. The scallop appetizer was phenomenal. And my halibut encrusted in crab was decadent. Great cocktails too and our service was excellent. A very special evening.

The Gandy Dancer has been one of our favorite restaurants for many years, but this was the first time that we have been back since COVID. We were very disappointed. We were there on a Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM. It started with there only one valet parking and retrieving cars. He was pleasant but obviously stressed and overworked. People were all over the place waiting to get tickets for their cars and waiting to pickup their cars. Inside the normal white linen and table settings were quite nice but we sat on the glassed in platform against the stone wall which was sticky, stained black and filthy. I know that it is an old building but it still could be steam cleaned. The waiter pleasant but he was young and inexperienced and obviously had not been trained about the details of things on the menus. i tried to order a baked potato to go with my filet and was told that I could only have whipped potatoes. What fine dining establishment does not have baked potatoes? They used to be on the menu. The frozen margarita was icy but it was obviously made with very cheap, watered down tequila and not enough mix. Also it was served in a water glass. The filet was excellent and cooked properly but the whipped potatoes were terrible and I suspect were from a box. Tasteless and I did not eat them. This is a shame that this great restaurant has gone down hill so badly. We will not return until we hear from someone that things have drastically changed.

Our go-to restaurant during our annual visit to Ann Arbor. Never disappoints. The Meiomi pinot noir was lovely. The parmesan snapper was wonderful. Ella was a perfect server - friendly and attentive but not hovering. The only down was the ice cream drowning in kahlua… we asked for vanilla ice cream with a kahlua drizzle. Couldn’t finish it.

I have been here 7-8 times now, and keep hoping the service will improve because the food is very good. Service is atrocious every single time - doesn’t matter where you sit, who your server is, or if it’s busy or empty. On our last visit, we were sitting for literally 45 mins before our server came back to even take our appetizer order. The drink themselves took about 30 minutes to arrive. Must just come down to poor operations/management. At this price point, it’s unacceptable. Will not be going back.

Zoey, our server, was outstanding. I ordered scallops, and she recommended adding crab with them. Wow I was a bit upset when I had to be asked to be seated by the window. I had made that request with our reservation.

We LOVE Gandy Dancer and are regulars - 2-3 times/month. I’ve never had this before - had a reservation - arrived and was told to sit on the bench and wait for a text. That’s how I get treated at Outback Steakhouse. Usually, we are seated immediately at an awesome table. Different vibe last night at the Host Stand. Didn’t love it. Halibut was absolutely amazing!!! Recommend the Outback treatment at the Host stand be revisited ASAP.

This is one of my favorite restaurants to dine at when visiting Ann Arbor! Everything typically is perfect, but in some cases, when they have too many guests, they try to squeeze more around tables and into areas than should be allowed. By doing so, they barely allowing passage, creating a possible hazard for anyone trying to walk through while interfering with diners who are stuck sitting in their seats placed in the aisles. It took a discussion with the manager to correct the problem for at least one table affected.

This was our first time here and was for a birthday. Their reservation asked if it was for any special occasion. I selected birthday. As soon as we got in and checked in they asked who’s special birthday is it? They gave her a special birthday menu wrapped like a scroll. Nothing big but a great gesture and great keepsake to remember the night. Drinks, apps and main dinner were great! Loved everything we ordered. Was so good. Since it was our first time here didn’t realize there was limited parking. They do have complimentary valet which we had to use but since we both don’t carry cash, we were only able to scrounge up $9 for the valet tip. We felt bad about that. So just know, if it is your first time, there is limited parking and bring cash to tip the valet. Valet guys were very nice. You will not be disappointed.
