Service and food were amazing. Highly recommend the food. It’s a wonderful neighborhood eatery.
ORDERED PAELLA AND BLACKENED SWORDFISH, THE SWORDFISH WAS OUTSTANDING! THE PAELLA WAS JUST OK AND I FELT TOO EXPENSIVE FOR THE PLATE. SERVICE WAS GOOD, TIMELY
I went to Tavern 18 for my friend’s bridal shower, we were 50 people, the food and drinks are amazing and the service is incredible
They have a really nice private room
Amazing chill bar and American steakhouse that always hits home, tasting good and delivering great service in a relaxed atmosphere. The steak frites is amazing due to that great chimmichurri sauce. The flier mignon is superb. A must get is the Mac and cheese appetizer. Oh and always ask for more of the house bread!
Great food! Must try the porterhouse, excellent presentation, cooked to perfection. Efficient service!! Would definitely come back
Came in today to Galo Tavern 18. To start I got a Tavern Manhattan it was delicious and just right. The steak was flavorfull, tender and cooked on point. My friend said her branzino was delicious and tasty as well. Definitely worth the trip
Sorry to say, but we probably won’t be returning. The restaurant was not full on a Saturday evening, yet drinks took quite some time to arrive. Although there was an extensive list of beers, liquors and specialty drinks online, no drinks menu was offered. Food was just okay. One person’s burger went mostly uneaten because it was very salty. The two Cobb salads were skimpy and were missing the eggs.
Just not worth a repeat visit.
Awesome food. One of the best burgers ever. Rarely do I see gruyere as a choice for cheese on a burger. And the pasta cooked perfectly and served as requested with lite sauce. Server was helpful and checked back on us more than once. Nice to find a dessert choice for under $5.
Service was awful. Got there at 3:30-didn’t leave until 7. We were celebrating a 40th birthday with a small group. Wait staff was as inattentive as could be. We were a small group of 4 and 3 children. There were only 4 tables dining at the restaurant the entire time. The table next to us finished about 20 minutes after we got there and No one cleared the table, the dirty dishes sat there the entire time we were there. The waitress Disappeared for a lengthy amount of time, numerous times to the point where we were getting up to look for someone to give us drinks because we were thirsty.
Food came out and one meal had to be returned because it tasted rancid. A few wound up very sick a few hours afterwards. Stay away from this place!
Great service and food! Was there for hours. Also, good selection of beers.
I happen to be extremely picky and refuse to wait Tavern 18 is clean I don't wait with reservations the food is delicious and plentiful staff are like old friends rare in any establishment haven't hit one Manhattan restaurant that equals Tavern 18
Beer, food, service, everything is great
I've been slacking off on my reviews, but I wanted to help get the word out -- they deserve it. Well, aside from the service, which was slow, but it was Father's Day.
I ordered the Grilled New York Strip Steak, 18oz. It was terrific, juicy, tender and flavorful, with a slightly charred crust, and best of all, a wonderful wine reduction served in a separate ramekin. At $35, it's an amazing bargain, especially since, unlike at the big name steak houses, it includes 2 large sides! The mashed potatoes were excellent, as was the sautéed spinach (there was a $2 up charge for the "premium" side dish of spinach).
This is my third or fourth time visit in this restaurant and each time was exceptional. My dad and significant other first came here this past Father’s Day and they love the restaurant and said that they will definitely go back on their own time. The brunch on a Sunday is phenomenal and each person at the table enjoy their meal. I brought my two daughters and they were very kid friendly.
Great place! Good food and great service. This was a very pleasant dining experience.
Food was very tasty and portion sizes were big for the price, service was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable, the restaurant has a lay back ambience without been exaggerated. Will definitely go back.
The food and service is amazing , loved my apps and my pasta , the bread was out of the world ! My new favorite spot, tray the porterhouse 42oz for two
Place was nice staff very friendly, but the silverware wasnt clean, took forever to get our food. No one checked in on us to see if we were ok except for the gentleman going around to refill water and take our plates.
The food was amazing. Location was very cute. We are usually Manhattan/Brooklyn people and we found it comprable. Service was great. Drinks were strong and good. Would recommend to friends in Eastern Queens/ Western LI.
Great place to eat for a fair price. Will definitely go again
The food was amazing and service was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
delicious hanger steak, cooked just the way we ordered it. creamed spinach delicious as is mac and cheese. like the new look of the restaurant as far as decor. will return soon with my family as there are options we can all enjoy.
VERY DISRUPTIVE FOEL LANGUAGE GROUP SBOULD HAVE BEEN SPOKEN TO, AND CUR OFF FROM ALCOHOL. POOR MANAGEMENT !
The service and food were exceptional. We took the dessert home (creme brule) but it was not very good. My husband and 10 year old daughter enjoyed their meal as well. We will return to this local restaurant.
Clean and calm. Very nice staff
My husband and I had a great time. We had a wonderful dinner. Our waitress was so friendly and very efficient. We really enjoyed the food. Steak was delicious. We will be back!
Parking is surprisingly difficult
Service is very good
Food can be salty.
Did not like spring rolls
It's an upscale pub with an optimistic menu.
Incredible service for our family brunch/bday party. 9 people including 2 little kids, and she made it seem very easy! Thank you!
New owners upgrade in progress. The food is not likely used to be.
Food was fantastic. We had porterhouse and filet mignons...cooked to perfection. A really enjoyable Sunday evening as we were celebrating a birthday. The waitress was very helpful with our questions on certain dishes and had a really pleasant attitude. Have to say we enjoyed every bite and went home VERY satisfied. Will definitely go back. The drinks from the bar were good too.
I always enjoy a dinner out at Galo Tavern 18. I've been going there for years. Different name restaurant and owners in the past but I'm happy that the new owners are living up to the past owners reputation and good food. Still one of the best places for a steak.
the food a bit pricy for the bar scene, but overall a nice place to hang
Good place to eat
Be careful what you order. Some entrees are huge; while others need more on the plate. Three small pieces of fish in the fish and chips. And the shepherd's pie was a tiny portion of beef with a huge portion of cheesy potatoes. All was tasty, but overpriced for the portion size. Go with the burger and you can't go wrong.
the food and services is great, we will definitely be back
We really enjoyed our experience at tavern 18. The food was good and service was too. Tavern 18 is always a great place to go too for dinner or lunch.
Fantastic for an early-evening dinner with the kids on NYE. Only drawback was the rim on my signature drink was coated in salt, not sugar, as advertised, but the wonderfully courteous staff quickly remedied it.
We had a nice experience with the exception that the hostess said she did not have our reservation which I clearly made and had a confirmation on Open Table. She did not handle it well-as it was our 1st visit here. The food was good...branzino should have been served dry with sauce on side-it was drowning in butter. Service was a little rushed-but it was New Years Eve-but it was not crowded. I would give it another try.
A surprisingly good restaurant with a very nice menu allowing the price to go from reasonable (sandwiches and burgers) to good value (fish & chips) to pricy (steaks). Service was more than good and the portions were very generous. A recent change in ownership, but not in quality. We spent two hours over a casual dinner without feeling rushed. And the $2 ice cream choice made for a fun dessert without impacting the bottom line of the bill.
