What Insiders Are Saying
Gallow Green is the rooftop bar on top of the hotel in Chelsea where Sleep No More takes place, although you don’t have to wear a mask to drink here.
High end cocktails didn't disappoint. I had the Gallows Green which was a nicely balanced whiskey cocktail with fruit and herbal flavors. My date had a Frosé (rosé slushy) and she loved it. Then I had a Sleep No More that also was quite enjoyable. Excellent cocktails and service with really lovely rustic ambiance.
Beautiful roof deck. Pretty flowers and herbs potted all around. The arugula pizzas was delicious
Absolutely beautiful rooftop with great cocktails! Pricier side and expect to wait if you don’t have a reservation. Loved the spot!
Great experience! Delicious food. Beautiful ambiance. Exceptional service. Fair price and great music for entertainment. LOVED!!!
Loved the ambiance! The menu is not very extensive but for NYC, the cost is inexpensive.
It was ok. Hiot and lots of mosquitos
My family and I always book a table at Gallow Green every time we visit New York. The atmosphere of this rooftop bar/restaurant is unmatched. The food is delicious and the cocktails are unique. I enjoy getting the dry cider. My mother always gets the 'Sleep No More' cocktail which almost looks too cute to drink. The service was slow. We felt like our waiter was not as attentive as he should have been. We probably would have bought more drinks but it took too long for him to stop at our table. The water boy was great though, I was certainly NEVER parched. Can't wait to visit again next year for more prosciutto pizza!
Amazing ambiance, gluten free options and the drinks were so creative and fun!!!!
Very small menu. Tiny salad for $18
Super cute, great ambiance, very friendly staff, delicious food and incredible drinks
No AC. Too hot and we were rushed out of our table because there was another reservation coming.
Great rooftop restaurant with a very friendly vibe.
We felt we were rushed to eat and leave which we felt really uncomfortable.
Very friendly and accommodating staff, lovely shaded outdoor dining and some excellent salads and cocktails . So nice to have an outdoor bar/ dining that isn’t overly expensive or pretentious. Fun and upbeat crowd . Good for groups and intimate dinner
Fly was in my drink, on the website it said Sunday live jazz all day came for dinner and was nothing
Really gorgeous atmosphere and well made drinks, but the food was underwhelming in value and flavor. My biggest problem is that I booked a table for two and showed up to be seated at an 8 top communal table with three other couples. You should really warn people that's going to be the option when making a reservation, because you're literally on top of other people at the small tables. No privacy or intimacy and everyone was awkward about it.
If you're a tourist or a try hard, Gallow Green is the spot for you. If you're a regular New York person looking for a cute rooftop spot to have a date or small gathering, I wouldn't reco coming here.
100 point for this place - Amazing rooftop on the west side
The space is beautiful and the food is pretty good (though costly). The service is very slow, but server very friendly. There is not a lack of waitstaff on shift, so I think there is room for improvement. Overall the experience was good.
I was here for the first time on a casual date night with my husband. We were led to a table that turned out to be smack in the middle of a community table & we had a request to be put on the table end. The middle would be great for a party of 4 for sure but not a couple. Otherwise the drinks, food & service was great.
Cool restaurant, just be prepared for the noisy atmoshere.
The atmosphere of this rooftop oasis is transporting! The drink (Sleep no more) was delicious, as was the Key Lime Pie the server recommended. The sandwich & pizza were good, but not great. I will definitely go again for drinks and ambience!
singe thé last time ...6 years ago...the manu change and we have less recipes
but the service was not at the level of what we paid
A wonderfully special and unexpected place. We enjoyed it hugely in the company of our teenage daughters.
Simple and relaxed but delicious. Fabulous ambiance.
Gallow Green is a stunningly beautiful setting. We were blown away by the decor. We were seated at a community table with three other couples, way too close quarters, and we couldn’t hear each other to have a conversation. There were 2-3 bachelorette parties in the restaurant, so it was incredibly loud. The crowd was mostly made up of 20-somethings who were on their phones. The food was fine. We left and went to get drinks at a more sophisticated setting. This is an instagram trap.
Great instagrammable photo please and good pizzas
Wonderful place to eat before viewing Sleep No More at the McKittrick Hotel.
Great venue with lovely ambience.
Pricey, but that’s probably to be expected
Note that despite being a rooftop bar, they will not seat you for drinks, only food. Overall, a mediocre drink for $17, which is high even for Manhattan. It is a rooftop, and they try to make the ambiance speakeasy-esque, but there's not really a view and the actual space is too preppy to feel old fashioned.
Beautiful location next to Hudson Yards. Great food and service. I wish I could have had a choice of where to sit. I personally would have preferred to sit by one of the tables next to the perimeter of the roof.
Would go back in a heart beat. Make sure to bring enough money you can take s nice walk through Hudson Yards after or before dinner.
Food was good! Loved the drinks and the bartenders work fast. Wait staff was inattentive.
Cocktail and service is good but the food is actually so so.
Better just go for a drink and enjoy the environment.
I didn't eat at GG, but I did get a cocktail, it was moderate at best. The atmosphere didn't really impress me even though it was like being in a garden setting. If I was on a rooftop, I didn't get that vibe. City views were blocked by the terrace. I mean, would I go if meeting friends? Sure. Would I take a friend visiting the city? No, unless I was going to see Sleep No More which is apparently the real draw of this place. For that, I would go again.
Booked Gallow green as a birthday treat for my meal as I’d heard good things about the ambience and the roof top garden looked stunning. Upon arrival we were offered the choice of two tables, I asked which was the better one and was told “it’s up to you” after sitting at the first table which we were essentially sharing with another couple it became apparent that my chair was too close to the table and chairs behind so that every time a waiter passed I was jolted and had to sit increasingly close to the table. The table and chairs were also very wobbly. I then went to explore the restaurant which on the positive was very attractive but when I returned to the table my partner said he had been asked to move and had his reservation questioned by 3 members of staff who had only just say us 5 minutes earlier. Understandably he was quite upset by this as it was apparent that no notice had been taken of him on our arrival. Next was the arrival of my chicken salad (a warm stew like chicken with lettuce leaves) which was visually unappealing but upon eating was ok if a little salty. Our drinks which we had ordered before the food then turned up 10 minutes later (a beer and a wine) followed by my partners meal another 5 mins later. This resulted in me having to eat all of my meal before his arrived. His food a meatball pizza was good but by now we were both quite irritated and the rude and poor service had spoilt the mood. Maybe we got unlucky with our server as others seemed to be having a good time. The live French band was good and the appearance of the restaurant as I’d hoped but I would not recommend to friends based on the service and food.
Had a great experience, service was great so was the overall ambiance.
Lovely settings, good vibe, waiter was attentive although our order came incorrect and the seating was a bit uncomfortable.
Gallow Green is good for a couple or a small group of friends if you want ambience in the city. It is unbelievably overpriced for drinks. Food was moderately priced and moderate in taste. Service was poor. Our waiter could care less about us and even sighed at our large party (7 people). He was just rude overall, like we were inconveniencing him. Manager made up for it, but at the end of our meal. I would not go for dinner again.
Food was good but overpriced for what you get. Cocktails, ambiance, and overall uniqueness of the establishment makes up for the relatively high cost of dining. Good for special occasions, dates, and/or a night cap.
C est un endroit magique où l'on passe une soirée sublime!
