Beginning November 4th Gallow Green will not be taking reservations as we transition the rooftop into our winter space - The Lodge at Gallow Green. To be among the first to know of our opening date please sign our guest book here.
Awesome place definitely a great place for date night or even a casual night out with friends. BRING A JACKET if your going during the winter months. There is only one heater.
Great Location, also with sneaker we gained access. We are a Family, it was Rainy, only few People were there, therefore Plenty of Space for the Kids. Would come back! Prices are Medium.
This was so disappointing. We had heard so many good things but I felt like it was overrated, overpriced and tacky. The food wasn’t even that good and the cheesy Halloween decor was overkill for me. Also, the restaurant cards at the door (21+) and they took our IDS and put Xs on our hands which was really annoying because we had no idea and then could not go out after with black sharpie Xs on our hands. We wish we would have known it was 21+ especially because it was so unexpected for a restaurant with such a cheesy/ Disney Epcot atmosphere.
The ambiance is worth a lot. It feels enchanting to be on the roof with a Great Gatsby feel. The dinner menu is limited and the I would say just fair, but the ambiance makes it taste better ;)
- very cool rooftop setting, decorated for fall
- entry ambience of an old dark probably haunted hotel
- right off the Highline
- good pizza
- being put at the end of a long table, in the bulk seating area, on the table leg despite having an opening hour reservation
- questionable oysters that we didn’t finish
- skittish waiter
- More available than Open Table led us to believe
- good for a drink and appetizers
Great experience before we went to Sleep No More to celebrate a birthday!
Perfect place for a special date. Ambiance was spectacular. Food and drinks were way over priced but that’s the city for you. Service was super quick. I would definitely go back here.
Great atmosphere, nice staff, ok food but pricey.
Walking out on the rooftop terrace really does make you feel like you've been transported to a fall harvest festival out in the burbs. Really liked the open feel yet having the canopy protected us from the light rain. The "caboose" area was well done - would have liked the option to sit there (not offered even though empty & no one sat there). The wait staff were nice, a little slow at 1st but nice.
Small beer list but highlighted local NYC area brews so that was a plus. We ordered an app of shrimp cocktail & 2 entrees. Everything came at once. Oh well. The burger was ok. Very salty for some reason and the bun was something I would have bought at Super Stop & Shop. And it is not a cheap meal. Shrimp cocktail, 4 beers, a cheeseburger & a french dip sandwich came to $118. For that price you'd expect better.
There are many long tables for group/family seating. We've been to Oktoberfest in Munich and other establishments so we are used to that. What was strange was that they sat a solo diner in the chair right next to us, literally our legs could touch while there were other tables empty or almost empty. Why?
Overall if we were looking for cool spot just to grab a drink or a romantic hideaway I'd recommend. I hear they do a great brunch. Otherwise it was average.
Cool ambiance. Lived up to high expectation. Was first chilly night of the season so not really enough heaters around, but didn’t detract much. Food was high quality, Cuban sandwich nice and pizza very good! Key lime pie was yummy. Want to see Sleep No More but time did not permit! Nice evening!
I love Gallow Green; have been many many times for drinks, music and brunch. All of which are excellent. Dinner however was shockingly mediocre. It’s really a snack and Pizza menu to begin with. But even that should be better. I think if you’re going to do dinner, do dinner right. Or just have a bar menu and leave it at that. But I think even the bar menu quality of food can be improved. I’m taking the time to write this review because I absolutely love your place. And will be back. But not for dinner.
Food was eh. When we tried to order another pizza (at 8:30) they told us that they shut down the oven for cleaning. Food came out all at once and before our drinks were served. Overpriced and not worth the money.
beautiful ambience. great cocktails
Gallow green is the perfect brunch spot in the city. The cocktails are delicious. The 5.30 pm food menu is not that great. There’s a better brunch menu. Overall it’s a pretty place.
They do not encourage walk ins. Try and book a table well in advance.
They have the best pizza (try zucchini) and the best french fries. Do get their special sleep no more drink.
The food was great! The service wasn’t amazing, but it wasn’t bad either. Overall, we had a good dinner! I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars.
Booked with optimism as had been recommended by fellow Brits. Service was terrible. Emerged into the restaurant after a very friendly welcome from staff in the lift to 3 female staff chatting amongst themselves at the desk who ignored us. One of them eventually reluctantly left her 2 friends and walked off around the restaurant expecting us to follow with no eye contact or other communication. We assumed we had reached our seats when she dumped 2 menus on the end of a large table and walked off without a backward glance. The waiter then treated us as though we were an inconvenience and others had to be called over during the meal for more drinks. Felt like we weren't welcome. Both ordered the overpriced burger which looked v average and was so salty it was inedible. We didnt bother complaining because we couldn't get anyones attention for sometime. Evening was rescued by the burlesque show afterwards which was fun. Disappointed generally though : (
We loved our stay at the McKittrick Hotel, starting with Gallow Green. Best burger and pizza of our lives!
We had Joseph as our server and would choose him again in a heartbeat. Excellent service, including the other servers who checked on our water and food.
Our drinks were just as beautiful as they were delicious, and the atmosphere can't be beat!
Nice ambience and location, cocktails disappointing and low value for money. Food was rather simple and far to fat and not impressive.
We went before seeing Sleep No More. Our food came out at different times, but the staff and management were really great about it, offering us free drinks. We had an amazing time
Fabulous food, fabulous ambiance. Sarah was a fabulous server.
Amazing. Will be back.
Sunday Jazz Night had a wonderful ambiance, although very loud, that you don't want to waste on managing young kids. The waiter wasn't friendly and the portions were small for the price. I would still recommend for a date or a few friends because of ambiance.
The menu is really just sandwiches and pizza. I was expecting a lot more from a rooftop bar. Food is just okay. You'll have to dine at a communal table, even with a reservation. The space looks nice but overall, disappointing.
We had tickets to Bartschland Follies and decided to have dinner and drinks before the show. Great experience. Highly recommend.
The ambiance is one of a kind in NYC - combined with the McKittrick and the Club car, this is a gem.
The look and feel of the space was great. While the servers were nice they weren't as attentive as I would have expected for the price point. They were slow to come around to take our order and we had to get their attention to order another round of drinks. They were't busy just standing around. Overall, though we did enjoy our evening.
So this is definitely one I would recommend for a special night out for drinks in a great area for ambiance. The drinks were delicious and well mixed, but the food was lacking especially considering the price. I enjoyed my time there and would suggest it for a date night for after dinner drinks. Not the best view of the sky but lots of greenery which is unique and fun.
It was an amazing experience from the front door to the rooftop I'm so happy that I went there with my friends incredible service, Thank you!
Tolle Location. Etwas hochpreisige für das servierte Essen.
Amazing staff. They were so attentive to our needs and frequently checked on us. I appreciated their level of professionalism. The rooftop is gorgeous and beautifully lit. It was loud with chatter, but I would rather that than yelling across the table over loud music. We enjoyed a pizza and the cocktails were fantastic. Overall a truly wonderful night. Will definitely return with more friends!
We loved!!! We ate a pizza e the drink's were very good.
Service was fast and courteous, and the food was fresh and very tasty. My only hedge here is that I thought the prices are a tad high. But it was worth it!
The drinks are great, wanted to try every cocktail...I wonder if I succeeded...
Really Nice place, pleasant moment with my GF, a perfect place for a date! ;)
It's very nice place to eat and drink. Food is amazing and not so expensive. Desserts are delicious!
Come for the drinks and the views. The menu is so, so.
They shouldn’t have naked women walking. Around.
I must say- it was an absolute thundering DOWNPOUR when we were there, and there were water drips and puddles forming everywhere - but the staff did not lose their sense of humor or professionalism!!
I rarely leave reviews. Although the atmosphere is great here, the food is expensive and not very good. Tuna sandwich was literally inedible and had to be sent back to the kitchen.
Margherita pizza was relatively good, but not great.
The fries were meh.
The grilled chicken salad was worse than meh and the chicken texture and taste was that of defrosted frozen chicken.
Only thing this place has going for it is the ambiance - this does not override the subpar food. Go for drinks, not dinner.
The service was not great, the wait staff was clueless, we asked fir a manager, but one never came. Once our main meal was served, we never saw our waitress again. We had to flag down any other waiter/waitress/or bus staff to ask for our waitress & our bill. Some of our order never came, so we wanted to point that out to her/them before the bill came. She finally emerged 15 minutes after we started requesting her & WALKED RIGHT PAST US to check on another table. When we finally got her attention and told her what happened, she said “she asked them to cover for her”...
