Service was cordial but very slow. Dinner took 2 hours and 20 minutes. Food was very good but time intervals between servings was unmerciful protracted. Probably best to schedule dinner on a weekday and stay away from weekends.
There were 2 weddings being held at the hotel. Not sure if this played into the slow service. Nice setting but noise level detracted from the experience.
We have eaten at the Gallery multiple times. Each time excited to schedule our next visit. However, they have recently changed their menu. It definitely is not for the better. Very limited choices. I ordered "chicken and dumplings". This turned out to be a small piece of chicken with a little gnocchi on the side. Very expensive for what I received. The entire restaurant was empty. I had made reservations 3 weeks ago. However, we were seated and within 5 minutes a group of approximately 16 teenages were seated right beside us. They were there for their prom. Our table could not even carry on a conversation due to the noise at the table beside us. Very poor choice for the hostess to seat the group right beside us. If I had just walked in without reservations I might understand the seating. Our waitress was ok. But not super friendly.
Always a pleasure eating here. Do yourself a favor and eat at this exquisite restaurant.
I'm usually not impressed with hotel restaurants, but the Gallery Restaurant is an exception. We ate dinner outside (which was quieter than inside) and the service and food were both outstanding. I had a blackened pork loin special that moist and very tender, while my wife enjoyed the bison short ribs that fell off the bone. The wait staff and restaurant management were all attentive without being intrusive or overbearing. We also had brunch the next morning at the Gallery Restaurant and both enjoyed the vegetable hash with eggs. Again, the service and the food at brunch surpassed our expectations. And all of this on a weekend when the hotel was busy with players and guests attending a PGA golf tournament just down the road. We'll be back.
Billy, our server was excellent. Made it all worth while
I took my wife to Gallery Restaurant for our anniversary. It was an amazing meal that we both enjoyed. I would fully recommend Gallery to anyone looking to splurge (the food and service are excellent, but you do pay for it) for a special occasion.
Very attentive wait staff. Delicious food. Nice calm atmosphere. Friendly people. Had a wonderful time.
Gina our server was outstanding. Brunch was delicious. Noise level was very high, which was a bit of a negative, but overall wonderful!
Host staff need to be trained. Food was ok. Waiter was fantastic.
The Staff was beyond accommodating and very pleasant. The food was great as well. I would definitely return
Meat was outstanding. We tried the Elk (a special for that day). We also tried their calamari appetizer (another off-the-menu special), which was served over a very yummy spicy mayo. But in my opinion the calamari itself was over breaded, which held too much oil.
The purée pomme, demi glace, and roasted garlic were divine. I was glad there wasn't any salt on the garlic. I ended up eating it with the freshly baked bread, with some of their artisan flavored butter (the pesto one was our favorites, but they told us that the flavors change every day).
I didn't like the asparagus. Bitter, oily, i don't know what the issue was. And the braised mushrooms were too salty for me (but i don't cook with salt, so that could be it).
For dessert (see pictures), we had the raspberry tart (OMGGGGG!!!) and the recommended chocolate bourbon brulee. The tart was worth every penny. Try everything by itself or combined; there is no going wrong with that item. The brulee... If you are a chocoholic, you will love it. Otherwise, remove the ganache and cake that they put on top, (but keep the candied orange), and be prepared not to eat it all. But it goes GREAT with a foamy latte, and theirs is good. Consider asking for some wipped Chantilly cream or even goat cheese to cut the sweetness a little.
Ambiance-wise: we were seating three booths away from the bar, so i had colliding music in my ears (smooth jazz and Lenny Kravitz). Art was cool to watch. They change the expo every so often, and that's why they are called "The Gallery".
Service: loved every one, very attentive, polite, and nice. The manager noticed how much we loved the butter, so he asked the staff to send us some to the room the next morning, complimentary. See pic of the empty plate.
This was my mini-moon weekend, and the dinner was a great building block to this special occasion.
Service and food was excellent tho my husband's steak was a little more cooked than he wanted. I think he needs to ask for medium these days. Otherwise they were almost over-protective of us and kept us very happy. We had not been there in over a year since we were unhappy with our Christmas Eve dinner and service. But we have fond memories of the Galery and we will go back again.
Everything was excellent and our waiter Billy was fantastic
Honestly, price is just too high when you compare other good, fancy restaurants around. Food is great, ambiance is great, service is great - but you can get all of that for less money elsewhere. All in all, there's probably other places to go that are just as good but you'll save some money. I had the bison, which personally I didn't enjoy, but I think some might.
Billy was a joy to have as a server. Everything explained well. Lovely decor. Small menu but should have something for everyone. Will return in the spring when we can sit on the terrace and enjoy the outdoor views!
Wonderful ambiance! We sat at the bar, big cozy chairs!
Low lighting, pretty views and delicious food. Can’t wait to go back!
Outstanding. Great food, exceptional service. Worth it.
An absolute gem for a lunchtime meal. Highly recommend as it was a very pleasant dining experience made in part because it was not busy and the service & food were excellent.
The Gallery is one of our favorite restaurants and we always have a great experience when we dine there. We always eat brunch there on Sundays and have never been disappointed with our food or service. The staff is wonderful, friendly, and hospitable and we have developed some great relationships with them. We highly recommend the Gallery if you are looking for a quiet environment with great food and great people.
Excellent experience. Our waiter Larry was great, and all the food tasted fantastic
Great spot for midweek business or personal lunch. Prompt service, tasty food with good menu selection and reasonable price.
Always love having dinner or lunch at the Gallery !
Service was excellent, dinner was good (not great), restaurant was nice, but pretty noisy.
Loved the service!! Was a great experience!
First time there and will def go back!!
Our waitress was Hannah A and she was wonderful. Very kind and helpful.
Food was outstanding. Had a wonderful time.
Celebrating our anniversary at The Gallery was very pleasant! We were celebrating our 7 year wedding anniversary where we started... at the Ballantyne Resort. We have celebrated several of our anniversaries there.
Celebrating a birthday and service and environment were great
service was excellent, extremely noisy, food: I ordered chicken and dumplings, as a southerner by birth, any resemblance to what I was expecting was coincidental. One of the other diners with me ordered the bouillabaisse, could only eat 2 shrimp. The third diner loved the beet salad
We've been here a number of times over the past few years, and this was the best the food has been in a long time. Dessert (a pear tart) was especially wonderful. Our server, Billy, was great.
Service was exceptionally professional and warm. Food was delicious.
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. I'd recommend to anyone living in or visiting the Charlotte area.
Fabulous service and food. The ambiance was quiet and you could actually hear your dining companions.
Great Saturday brunch, very empty which was surprising. The burger with egg and bacon was excellent and complementary biscuit/ brioche/ banana bread appetizer with assorted jams & butter was my jam. Mango Jam plus brioche is a killer combo. Slight food coma before heading to the spa but will absolutely be back.
Excellent food and service! If I lived closer I would return in a heart-beat.
The service was EXCELLENT. Great food and atmosphere for business dinner.
Sal did a fabulous job!! Great night out celebrating a birthday
I was not pleased. The food wasn't amazing, but it wasn't my major issue, it was the service. Our server brought out drinks/took our order and we never saw her again. I requested the check twice, and she'd say OK, then start doing something else and forget. So finally I had to get a random server walking by to bring our check, then we had to wait another 5/10 minutes to get it ran by her even after my husband physically walked to her and handed her the folder with my card to run it. I was beyond dissatisfied. Sadly, I probably would've had a better experience at an IHOP. I may go back, but if I see her I will definitely request to sit in another section.
Great food, great presentation, great service. Not just another hotel restaurant, it stands alone on itself.
We were looking so forward to dining at The Gallery. Service was so slow; 20 minutes to get a drink, 40 minutes to get a piece of bread. Husband’s steak was SO tough. Not edible. Surely it wasn’t the cut of meat listed in the menu. Sat us facing the kitchen. Definitely not up to The Ballantyne standard. Won’t be going back.
This place never disappoints. Food was wonderful, atmosphere was great for a date night and the service was outstanding.
