Gallery Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I've been here often and the service and food have always been excellent. I'm gluten-free and I have never had an issue in finding options. I'm told all of their pasta can be switched to be gluten-free and they offer gluten-free bread. They obtain some of the ingredients from local farms that I am familiar with as well. There is outside balcony dining overlooking the golf course and there is an adjoining bar as well. Well worth your time to check out!
The food was really good and the service was pretty good the entire time. The meal is pricey though. They ask if you’d like coffee and orange juice as soon as you sit down, but will charge you $5 each. My table (unknowingly) spent $40 before looking at the menu. Maybe we should’ve expected that. Overall, I would go back.
My New Year’s Eve dinner was a bust. Unfortunately, I booked a 9:30 pm reservation because that was the only time slots left. Lesson learned. The food came out dry/overcooked. However, service made our night bearable. The manager gave us half off of our bill but my poor friend left hungry! We won’t be back, unfortunately.
Traveling all the way from Maryland I was really looking forward to my experience for New Years Eve at the Gallery. I was able to preview the pre fixed menu before dinner and all the options sounded amazing. I began with an autumn squash soup, which while delicious, did not blow me away for the price I was paying. My entree was a scallop dish in which my scallops were cold in the middle. I was disappointed with the other items that accompanied the scallops. I did not feel they all worked well together. For dessert I chose an orange champagne dish. The main part of the dessert was a brioche bun that had a champagne cream, however there wasn't enough cream so the brioche bun was dry. Overall it was an ok dinner, however it was a disappointment for the price we paid. The most positive part of the dinner was the service. Out server was extremely friendly and very attentive.
My wife and I enjoyed the restaurant which had a very good locally sourced menu. We both had an unique wedge salad. The meat and cheese board was very good and my wife enjoyed the truffle pasta alfredo. The service and atmosphere was excellent. We will return next time we are in Charlotte.
We have been going to The Gallery for about 5 years and most times have enjoyed. We also have been going on Christmas Eve 4-5 years. This time they had a Pre Fixe meal. $70. for 3 course and $80 for 4 course. So we were forced to take this than off the regular menu. My first date with my now husband I had scallops and they were awesome. This time the scallops were very salty. My husband could not eat them at all and I worked my way through them. They also had "fried oysters". One would not know there were oysters in them. They were hard and not easy to chew. Their onion soup was great and I had a kale sale which was excellent. At this point I am not sure we will go back again. Our waitress was excellent and felt very bad but we were not interested in ordering another meal by that time. The grits with the scallops was tasteless also. All in all very disappointed. Even my husband dessert was only ok except the ice-cream which was a minuscule serving. I will not recommend again.
The Gallery Restaurant has been a wonderful spot for special occasions for my family the last few years. However, the past two times we've gone we noticed the quality of the food had gone down. Rather bland cooking and flavors. Maybe there's a new chef in town. But I think we'll be expanding our experience to other restaurant in the future.
I was exited about the Christmas Eve 3 or 4 course menu but it did not live up to my expectation. To start, the restaurant lacked ambiance and Christmas spirit as there were no special decorations, just a plain table with white table cloth and a candle. Also, I was not thrilled to be sitting in the back room and removed from the main restaurant. We had a 545 PM reservation so don't understand why we had to sit in the back room as the restaurant did not seem to be full for the evening. This room also seemed to be a pass through for the servers and we sat right next to the door they walked in and out of with the dirty plates. Now onto the meal. We were offered a generous glass of wine and in hindsight I probably should have had a few more drinks to make up for the shortcomings of the meal. We had the basic bread and butter to start, well actually 3 different types of butter on a pretty tray but the butter had sat out too long and was was warm and runny. I chose the 3 course meal and with soup to start and it was absolutely delicious - Celery Root, Cauliflower, Parsnip, Truffle, Fried Thyme Croutons . For my main course I selected the Petite Filet with Lobster Tail Lobster Potato Puree, Heirloom Cauliflower, Lobster Sauce. This was the biggest disappointment. The petite filet was the size of 1/2 slice of meatloaf and the lobster tail more like a large undercooked shrimp. The meal arrived luke warm and the lobster tail was still raw so it needed to be sent back to be cooked. Despite the small portion, the meal had good flavor but was not very filling. For dessert I chose the Gingersnap & Praline Praline Namalaka, Gingersnap, Hazelnut Sponge, Sweet Carrot Gel Candied Hazelnuts, Valrhona Ducley Ice Cream, The dessert was a generous size portion and filled with beautiful flavors. Well I don't think I will go back to the Gallary restaurant as the overall ambiance and meal was not worth it - Ho, ho, ho!!!
Figured the 4th time would be better. No chance. To start: The service was poor but is usually pretty good. We never got our bread and the only drink we order had a fly in it. The meal was very expensive but lack flavors and creativity.
We never had a manager acknowledge any of this. Not even the fly in the drink.
To advocate as fine dining is simply not true. It is more like a sports bar with loud drinkers screaming and walking in and out of the “bar”
The food, which began arriving after 1 1/2 hours of little or no water service, was poorly prepared and arrived sporadically.
Unfortunately my party of six at one of the worst experiences at the gallery on a Saturday evening recently. I have been to the restaurant several times and have had outstanding service in the foods quality was impeccable. However this evening was not that case. I waiter told us he was working six tables, like we care. Our drinks took way too long and were actually comped and then our meal took over two hours to be put down on our plates and they were all raw. That was steak and fish. We were apologized to and were told that our meals were half off that would be our entrées. Nice but not quite the idea I had when I made the reservation to celebrate my wife’s birthday . And furthermore they never did anything for my wife for her birthday. I’m sorry but that was the last time we go to the gallery for the restaurant. But the bar is really great.
Consistent very good food, however this time my wife had the black grouper & the serving was extremely small for the price.
The other couple that we were with tried the Wildboar chops and although they came out looking extremely good they were not nearly as tender as they should have been which was fairly disappointing for this $48 entrée.
Michael, Our server was absolutely fantastic.
Our servers were very good, but there seemed to have been a problem in the kitchen. Our drinks and appetizers were served right away, but then we waited for over an hour for our entrees. We drank our whole bottle of wine before dinner. To the chef's credit, they delivered beautiful food (once it arrived.) We look forward to dining at the Gallery again!
The Gallery is one of our favorite places for Brunch. We heard that they were doing a Price Fix menu for Thanksgiving and that sounded intriguing. My mother was visiting for the holiday and no one wanted to cook. This was a great option. The menu was quite good with multiple options in each category. The food was really good and so was the service. We are thinking that this will be a good option for next year, too!
