It was the worst. I had reservations set for 8pm then didn’t get seated till 930. In addition, we didn’t our waiter come till 10. Overall food was okay, but by the time we left the place it was 1130 and my wife and I could do nothing else the rest of the night because we were tired. Stay awY from this place!
It was amazing! The whole experience since we got there and left the place, totally worthy :)
We had an 8:00 reservation, but we’re not seated until 9:15. We were taken to tables that were set back and not along the window and close to the view of the city, despite there being open tables available. Our server recognized our frustration and was able to get us moved to a table next to the window with the view. After 30 minutes at the table, we finally were able to order. It was clear that the kitchen was running out of food when our food came out with a significantly smaller portion than we had seen taken to other tables. We skipped the 3rd course entirely because it was after 11PM and we were just disappointed and ready to go home. All around poorly executed
I booked the pop up room for a sisters night out. Exceeded our expectations! The views were breathtaking, the ambience was relaxed and the service was top notch!
Eveybody was extremely nice and the atmosphere unrivalled around the globe. When it came to the food, my reservation was 21:45 and the kitchen closes at 22:00--thus, by the time I was seated, had the menue (which looked very good) the kitchen was closed. Too bad! Mabey next time...
Was disappointing for a bar 65 event. The tiki theme was an afterthought with mediocre decorations. Unclear as to why they had steelpan music. The food and drinks were average, and I am saying this as a person who has really enjoyed several events at Rainbow Room, Bar 65 (Christmas buffet and dinners). Perhaps my expectations were too high. Hopefully the next pop up bar is better.
Super ambiance, cocktail special delicieux comme la nourriture.
Et une des plus belle vue de manhattan
Amazing view - so great to be here. This place is an adventure
We went for the ‘Tiki’ themed night - embarrassingly bad. A few plastic palm trees and staff in Hawaiian shirts. Zero atmosphere. Hassled by the server to leave a good tip... Best avoided.
Wonderful view of manhattan. Definitely recommended at sunset!
Neah, not what I expected. Not the rooftop you want to go for the city view! No outside access! Weird looking interior. Can’t say much about food or drinks . We only had some appetizer and champagne. I would not recommend this place if you are looking for a true NYC rooftop experience
The pop up Tiki Bar on the 65th floor of 30 Rock was fabulous! Get drinks, delicious food! Excellent service! Let's do this again next year!
The view is magnificent but the room itself is so dated. It looks like a hotel bar that hasn’t been updated in 30 years. Would recommend Bar 65 next door which is beautiful and definitely has a more special feel.
The Gallery Bar Pop Up Tiki Bar @ the Rainbow Room was lacking...Tiki!
7 Tiki cocktails to choose from and only 2 had rum in them! One of the 2 rum cocktails they were out of and when I asked if they could make me a mai tai, they said they couldn't! The rum cocktail that I did order was essentially an old fashioned, but with rum - definitely not tiki.
The ambiance was really lacking. The bar had what looked like a grass skirt stretched out along the front of it and the glass floats that were hanging from the ceiling, were gaff taped. There were some plants and some green lights...but...nothing was tiki about it It was...not good.
The pros - the food was great!
Also, our reservation was at 9:30pm and the staff started cleaning up the place almost immediately after we sat down. It was definitely distracting.
I don't think I'd recommend going to the Gallery Bar Pop up Tiki bar @ the Rainbow Room.
I attended the tiki bar cocktail pop up last night with a friend . We had reservations for 7:15, and by that time, one third of the special cocktails were not available. That’s 2 out of 6. The drinks we ordered - one gin based, in a carp fish vessel, and the other, a banana flavored concoction in a coupe (where was my tiki mug?) - were just too cloyingly sweet. No balance, just pure sugar. We opted to leave after one round since we were sorely disappointed after experiencing those drinks. Dale Degroff, please come back and straighten things out please!
The decor seemed an afterthought and half assessed. Shiny crinkly emerald tablecloths, plastic potted palm trees, some orchids in bad vases and colorful glass globes suspended near the windows. The calypso band didn’t really do it for us either. Both of us started laughing when they started playing a saucy rendition of besa-me mucho.
FWIW, we enjoyed the view, which obviously was the real draw here.
I was a little disappointed. Perhaps because we went early (5:15) and it was completely dead. Expected to be outside. We had one drink and left to go to Bar 65. Sat outside and menu was the same as at the pop up. Totally enjoyed Bar 65. When we were leaving I noticed a live band performing at the POP Up and it looked more lively so maybe it was the early time.
The view is awesome. The rest is time travel back to the 80s. They were trying to make it look like the place was so desired that no-one ever could get a table but in fact the room was half empty during the three hours we were there. The waiters try to serve you as quick as possible, we felt rushed too leave ASAP by their demeanor. All in all, mixed feelings about the place.
Great cocktails and amazing view!
totally overrated and disappointing. sad attempt at a tiki bar with terrible drinks
I was expecting more ambiance, the decor was only mildly tiki~esque. There needed to be more decorations besides some orchids on the tables and the waitstaff could use more Hawaiian-inspired attire. The view is amazing though and the food was delicious. We got the Hawaiian pizza which is perfect to share between 2 to 4 people. The tiki drinks were served in great glassware but far too sweet in my opinion but fun to try. The service was lovely, everyone was very attentive.
Definitely will be going back. The drinks, food and atmosphere are amazing!!
Very pricey and not necessarily "tiki themed". However the food and drinks were great but small portions
We had a great time. The food and service was very good and there were interesting hand crafted drinks. It was a great idea. You should schedule more pop up occasions!
With the "Tiki" pop-up, we were expecting a recreation of the old Trader Vic's, but instead experienced merely a tacky, overpriced nod in that direction. There was minimal Tiki decor, consisting mostly of ugly table clothes. The menu had only a few and unfamiliar Tiki-style drinks and food. The food was good but very expensive The customers were downscale touristy, and the staff slow, a bit surly and undistinguished. For drinks and diner at $230, the experience was disappointing.
Didn't get a table which had been booked in the room requested
Champagne pop up bar had many champagne drinks to choose from but no other options listed if you are not a champagne drinker. We got the lobster deviled eggs which were tasty. The views are amazing.
Wonderful ambience, and views to die for, loved taking pictures as it went dark, a fantastic experience!
Probably the best view in manhattan! The service was good but the outside section was really crowded.
People were great...limited menu... freezing cold...very loud...confusing reservations online...
Spectacular views, but poor atmposphere, very quiet and extremely cold with an overzealous air conditioning unit close to diners which we asked to be turned down, with many diners keeping warm in their own jackets and blazers. I wouldn't come again given I have seen the view (which is great I would add). Service is very slow. Could be a lot better...
top three places on the planet
It is called a Bubble Bar... There should be more energy, people smiling and a feeling of joy. Instead, it was stuffy, low energy and boring. Come for the view that’s it.
Wonderful view, spectacular translation from day to night.Sadly menu limited food we had was good.Service was mediocre.Atmosphere and ambiance not there but go for the views.
My fiancé and I were told to go here by a friend while visiting NYC on vacation. Definitely enjoyed the experience and would recommend!
Everything was great but our waiter Joseph was amazing! He made everything perfect and for that I will always go back!
It seemed like there was only one waiter for the entire room. He was very kind but it was slow service. The food was amazing and the bubbles were delicious but it didn’t feel like a “pop up.” Never having been to the Rainbow Room, it honestly felt like it was a regular room with some champagne flights. Nothing really special.
Very touristy but still remarkable, the champagne bar at the Rainbow Room as out-of-this-world views. The setting is spectacular and the champagne is overpriced but it is a special occasion type of place.
Service poor, our host when we paid the bill and tip did not even come back to us.
This was a really great popup. Beautiful view. I would definitely attend again.
