Galaxy Taco - La Jolla
Great fun family restaurant with a touch of cool.
My third time here- always exceptional, great atmosphere, smiling staff, tasty food. We both had the Happy Hour michelada, and i ordered the dorito and bean dip appetizer- which fortunately was not doritos but a sizeable pile of puffed wheat pretzely shaped wheat crackers that were great with the beans. i ordered the carne asada entree with nopalitos and came with house made tortillas. My friend had the chicken enchilada with chile verde- mine was cooked perfectly mediun rare, and both of us pretty much cleared our plates. I love the nopales with the meat! We were there around 5pm - 630 on a Thursday evening and enjoyed a great conversation about an upcimingtrip to India that we are both taking in March. If you get there a moment before 5 there is streetparking on the adjacent side street on the SW and on the alley street just behind on the south.
Nothing special for what many call a local gem. Decent food but not for the price. Everything is a la carte ... including additional salsa (to our surprise).
Love the colors and the ambience, great people, great food. Will return.
Found this place off of Google for 38 most desirable restaurants in San Diego. It was definitely a find! We will be eating there frequently from here on out :)
So yummy and great environment. I would definitely recommend if you’re in the neighborhood.
Tacos are very small. Flavor is good, but not enough in the taco for the price.
Octopus tostada was a better choice with regard to what you get for your money.
Ambiance is nice...super relaxed energy/vibe.
Liked their t-shirts & even bought several.
We had good service.
In the end though, we decided we wouldn’t likely return due to the tacos being so skimpy for the price.
If I were to read or hear that there was any change, I’d probably try then again, based on the good flavors & the octopus tostada.
We loved the Wood Roasted Salsa - really delicious. Strong margarita made even better with Happy Hour pricing. Ana Maria was a nice server - happy and helpful.
First time trying this restaurant, I was warned by friends that the place wasn’t great.
I chose to ignore advice and was very excited to go try a new place.
Food was mediocre and expensive.
Waitress was nice but manager was extremely rude.
Won’t go back.
Puesto in downtown La Jolla is bounds better than this place.
Great night it was a quiet night but the food was incredible and our server was friendly and helpful, couldn’t have been better
We came here with a group of six for dinner and were not impressed. We ordered pitchers of margaritas, which tasted like they had very little alcohol in them. We got the guacamole, which was totally devoid of flavor, and all of our chips were smaller than a postage stamp, like they had been shaken out of the bottom of the bag. Four people had the tacos, and nobody liked any of them. I will say that the two people that ordered the enchiladas had pretty tasty meals. The refried beans it came as a side were just plain pinto beans in a bowl, soaking in water like they had just been dumped out of the cann and not even strained. This was true for all six of our place settings, so weird. Service was friendly, although we ordered salsa that never arrived. Overall, not an impressive experience
Yum yum! Dinner was spectacular! Margarita assortment awesome and great service.
Great taco selection. Flavors wonderful. Mushroom taco spicy so be prepared for a kick. Steak was mild and good. Chicken very good too.
Only issue were that flies were swarming all around our food and it was hard to eat.
Galaxy Taco has exceptional food and cocktails--particularly the tequila tasting flights. I the menu is creative and always has something new and different. Their tacos are excellent--most notably the avocado taco and the fish tacos.
Great cocktails. Excellent food, very tasty, interesting flavors. Can't wait to go back again!
It was enjoyable. Balanced flavors, nice looking dishes, clean ambience.
We love galaxy! The chicken soup is awesome. So are enchiladas with green sauce and the ceviche tostada!
great food with selections that are traditional, but with a different twist to the routine. Love the grilled octopus appetizer. I keep going back to Galaxy Taco
I always love the tacos and margaritas at Galaxy Taco. Add in the fun atmostphere and excellent service and you just can't go wrong here.
Had a late lunch on a Sunday and the food and service were excellent. Carne asada arrived at the doneness ordered. Chips with the sea urchin guacamole was delicious. Very fresh ingredients all around. Our server Alyssa was attentive and polite without being intrusive, so that professionalism was appreciated, as this is often missing in San Diego.
Food ok, but not worth the price. We will not return.
Good mexikan food and drinks in an intersting setting.
Great ceviche! Chilaqiles had decent flavors but muy picante; short rib tacos were good.
Creative and fusion take on Mexican food. Creative use of spices without being overly hot. fresh vegetables, complex and subtle and balanced. , good textures but notheavy.
Great cocktails and beers, less exciting for wines which actually pair less well with the menu. Family friendly environment, indoor-outdoor. FUN and different.
Finally made it there. Been planning on it foe a long time. Food very good and great beer selection. And the special request hotter hot sauce great!
Simple but good! Recommend trying the chicken enchiladas
We love meeting friends here for a fun dinner and great place to visit. 2-3 of us always order the trout. Fun menu and good food selections.
Delicious Food, Drinks yo die for, and awesome casual ambiance!
Had the chilled corn soup, which has to be one of the best foods I've ever had. Asked for a half portion and it was provided without hesitation. And I love their guacamole. Lively but not overly loud since all dining spaces are open to the sea breeze on at least one side.
Over priced tacos. Small portions. Guacamole taco good. Fish taco hardly there with small off tasting grilled fish.
Good guacamole and churros.
Very noisy, like eating in a garage.
Happy hour only descent deal.
Cocktails were excellent and ambiance decor is fun and lively, but the menu options for the mains were uncreative (the starters were a bit better) and the food was workmanlike in quality. Overall what you get doesn't justify the price you pay. It's been awhile since my last visit but I recall the menu being a bit more creative in the past. I'm guessing they've decided to go the more traditional tacos and cheese enchiladas route to maximize appeal to the tourist crowds... which if true is disappointing.
Very nice location with most courteous staffing. The drinks are great. While the restaurant has “taco” in the name...the standout dishes are the starters. There were a great variety of flavors and textures. The corn soup with crab and huitlacoche was fantastic. We will definitely be back.
Way way wat way way wat way way way way overpriced
Everything was super fresh and hand made, including the cocktail juices, tortillas and salsas. Had the fish tacos, sweet potato quesadilla and chips n salsa (all to share). Watermelon marg and classic marg. Ended with amazing churros al a mode with warm Mexican chocolate sauce. Unreal. We’ll be back. 😋
The Brussels sprouts were AWFUL and my cocktail tasted like cleaning product. The chips guacamole and salsa were terrific. The menu was very dirty. You better up your game or you will soon become!
Rather expensive and somewhat bland Mexican food. Plus some bulls**t fee because they have to pay their employees. Guess what buddy, we all do.
Our server didn't crack a smile and seemed WAY fidgety and off (possibly on drugs?). There was no music. Food wasn't as good as it used to be.
The food was just ok. Service was friendly but I didn’t think it was anything special.
Clean and well decorated upscale taco place. I would say for the portions and overall flavor a bit pricey.
Friendly service- always amazing food-
