Gaijin Sushi is the creation of chef/director, Michal Kubiak.

Having opened in March 2018, and receiving excellent reviews, including the Guardian in our first month, we are proud to offer a unique experience. You can sit around our sushi bar, which sits 10 and watch our chefs creating the sushi right before your eyes! Or if you would like to enjoy with friends we have two tables that can seat up to 6 people.

Please feel free to ask questions, such are "Where is the fish from?" we love answering them!

This was a fabulous dining experience. We sat at the counter watching the chefs beautifully prepare the delicious dishes, whilst describing each one as it was served to us. The waitress was very friendly & knowledgeable about the menu. We cannot fault the place.

Absolutely unbelievable sushi. We sat at the chefs table and watched it being prepared-a lovely touch. The chef was able to explain each course of the Omakase, 10 in total. Each piece of sushi was crafted with a delicate balance of flavours. The depth was fantastic with some pieces having layer after layer of flavour. Truly wonderful food! We thought we would not be full but 10 courses was enough. We paired with Japanese beer and Sake..Support a great and amazing value restaurant, and do not miss out!

Amazing sushi. The owner was amazing. Without a doubt one of the best and most knowledgeable hosts I’ve seen in a long time with a real passion for the food. Food was outstanding and very high quality. Chefs just totally forgot one of the dishes we ordered but was addressed at the end and addressed with no fuss my the owner. Great atmosphere and great food.

What a gem. Atmosphere, calm and adult. Beautiful food. The name defining how , despite the exceptional Japanese food, it is all amazingly put together by a largely European and South Asian team. Such an incredible welcome. I loved it. Highly recommended, but don’t tell anyone so it doesn’t get too busy 😂

The best sushi in Birmingham and probably the UK Excellent fresh ingredients, really friendly and knowledgeable staff. We’ve been going to Gaijin for several years and have never been disappointed It was Easy to get a table, since apparently the summer tends to be a quiet season for them, but don’t be put off by this. Well worth a visit any day of the week

Excellent omakase experience with fantastic and attentive service. All the sushi dishes were well seasoned with a good variety, and the tea selection that they serve is good quality using whole leaves.

Cannot recommend this place highly enough. We had the omakase at the bar with some extra pieces after, all the food was prepared in front of us and every mouthful was delicious! The team are so friendly and helpful here, it really is a great restaurant with excellent quality food.
