About Gaido's Seafood Restaurant

The toast of the Texas coast.
How can frozen fish be called fresh? The answer for anyone with snap is simple: it can’t. That’s why Gaido’s is the classic choice for fresh Gulf seafood. Patrons know Gaido’s is real, when others are clearly not. From red snapper and blue crab to white tablecloths crumbed with panache, there’s no denying Gaido’s is one-of-a-kind in a world of imitation. Now, after four generations of filleting, frying, grilling and baking, Gaido’s has grown into the picture perfect place of traditions– birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, reunions. As the largest fresh fish house on the coast, Gaido’s can serve up to 2,500 happy diners a day. Plus, with the Pelican Club, private dining, catering, a new food truck and parking galore…it’s easy to see why Gaido’s -– for over 100 years – is truly the coastal classic.

Calamari and the Pesto Fettuccini were good.

Steak salad, Greek salad and Caesar salad were not so great.

Gaido's was wonderful. Our wait staff was Elena and she was exceptional. She knew the art of waiting a table by not hoverings but was there when we needed her! She gave very helpful suggestions and guidance on the menu items. We will most definitely return. My husband and I ordered different items off the menu (red fish on the half shell and the other was a combination of broiled scallops, shrimp and catfish tenderloins) and both were fabulous. Looking forward to returning soon,

The highlight of our dining experience was our server, Vince. He was extremely attentive, friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. He definitely knew his fish and described each dish to us, making us want to try everything! Great restaurant. Delicious food. We'll definitely be back.

Used to eat here as a young girl and this was the first time back in at least 20 years. Was very pleased with my return visit and looking forward to another visit now that my family lives North of Houston.

I have been eating at Gaido's since 1988 and make a point of going there for great seafood when I visit Galveston. The service is always excellent and the quality of the food is outstanding. I recommend Gaido's to everyone.

Staff was very professional and making reservations was a breeze using Open Table. Food was really good, and if I might add try the stuffed flounder. It was delicious! Also, the old fashioned was very good too.

Travelled to Galveston to experience The Dickens on the Strand event and booked a table at Gaido’s for the evening we arrived. Both my wife and I have eaten here as kids with our families years ago but neither as adults. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and remembered many old stories about Galveston vacations and dining at Gaido’s! The shrimp (both grilled and fried) were excellent and the baked potatos were perfect too. Our server was pleasant and attentive but not intrusive. A simple meal that was prepared correctly in a fun and for us a nostalgic setting made this a very enjoyable evening.

Food was fresh and delicious! I ordered the fried shrimp. It was so fresh and I love how it was battered. Portion size was large and wait staff was friendly and helpful.

Gaido's consistently delivers great seafood, in a setting suitable for the elegant or casual diner. Portions are generous and service is consistently excellent. The pace of a meal is a bit leisurely, so for a quick run-of-mill fried seafood platter you might try somewhere else.

Excellent as always. The Red Snapper was light and delicate. The filet mignon was tender and juicy. Perfect!!! And, of course, service was 5 star. A standard we have learned to expect always at Gaidos.

I only took off a point on ambiance because the ceilings are low giving a dated feel. HOWEVER, these guys have been serving quality fresh fish for 100 years. They have stuck to their "core principles." They know what they do and they do it every time.

This was our second year to enjoy the Thanksgiving buffet and once again the food was delicious. From all the traditional favorites to the amazingly fresh seafood it’s hard to beat plus going down to the island for the holiday is well worth the short trip.

My wife and I were in Galveston on vacation, and wanted seafood. I had been to Gaido’s before but it had been a while, and she had never been, so it was a pretty new experience for both of us. We were not disappointed. The food (the blackened combination platter for me, the red snapper for her) was on point and the service from Keenan was attentive but not obtrusive.

You’ll pay more than a lot of seafood restaurants in Galveston, but it’s very much a “you get what you pay for” situation.

While pricey for lunch, the Redfish and fried oysters more than met expectations. Both entrees were outstanding and perfectly prepared. You can't go wrong with either the grilled asparagus or the parmesan tomatoes as your side. Coffee was smooth and rich. The on-site prepared bread and herb oil presented when we sat down.....well, can I say that we were hard pressed to save room for the rest of our lunch? Oh my! Everything from start to finish, including the service by Brittani was outstanding. We eat early lunch on an off season Saturday and by the time we left, they were getting busy. Worth the drive from Houston!

Special destination for us from Austin! Well worth the trip! Gaido's is an institution and deservedly so. Extensive menu - and everything is so delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed the Famous Seafood Platter. Shrimp scampi is mouth watering and totally satisfying! Attentive and thoughtful service and you leave with a feeling that you want to come back very soon!
