Gaido's Seafood Restaurant
How can frozen fish be called fresh? The answer for anyone with snap is simple: it can’t. That’s why Gaido’s is the classic choice for fresh Gulf seafood. Patrons know Gaido’s is real, when others are clearly not. From red snapper and blue crab to white tablecloths crumbed with panache, there’s no denying Gaido’s is one-of-a-kind in a world of imitation. Now, after four generations of filleting, frying, grilling and baking, Gaido’s has grown into the picture perfect place of traditions– birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, reunions. As the largest fresh fish house on the coast, Gaido’s can serve up to 2,500 happy diners a day. Plus, with the Pelican Club, private dining, catering, a new food truck and parking galore…it’s easy to see why Gaido’s -– for over 100 years – is truly the coastal classic.

Great. There was a wait for tables, but we sat down immediately at the bar and Joe provided great all around service while we ate a delicious meal.
Gaido's may have the best seafood in Galveston--we certainly haven't found anyplace better. We always eat here whenever we're in town and it's consistently superb at every level, the food, the service and the atmosphere all make for a sublime experience. This trip was a birthday dinner and Gaido's went out of its way to make us feel special. But, to tell the truth, Gaido's is always like that, birthday or no birthday. Our waiter this time was Sam and he was extremely helpful, telling us about the day's freshest offerings, suggesting toppings for the dishes we ordered, and recommending wonderful yet not pricey wines to complement our meal. None of that" It's all good" nonsense you get from a lot of waiters and waitresses. If you're a party of 4 or fewer, ask for a waterfront table when you make your reservation.
Great atmosphere, service & food, we will definitely return.
Not only was the food and wine unbelievable - but our Server, Alberto was Fabulous!!! The ambiance was superb. This is our new #1 place to eat when visiting Galveston!
Dinner with our best friends.
Excellent food, cooked just to perfection. My boyfriend and I had Red Snapper on the half-shell with asparagus, which was the special of the night and we finished every bite. We had the bread pudding for dessert and it was incredible (leave a lot of room, it's pretty dense). Our waiter, Vadam, was the exact right amount of attention and made excellent recommendations. Just a perfect end for our last night in Galveston. We will definitely come back next time!!
We love this restaurant! Our waiter, Armando, was the best waiter we have had here. He was very good and got our complicated orders just right, which is important because of all our food allergies and issues. The food was outstanding, as always. Every time we are in Galveston, we always try to eat here.
We went to Gaido's after hearing many good things about it from our online research. However, after our meal we felt underwhelmed and disappointed. The food was decent but nothing to rave about. We were told by local's that Nick's is better & a fraction of price. Wished we would have gone there instead!
They came highly recommended while we were visiting Galveston Island. We were celebrating my bff’s birthday. The food is was wonderful, our server Elena was quite efficient and knowledgeable, although she had a bit of an”edge” in her voice (perhaps it was cultural). Would be nice if they did not allow parking in front of the window—it blocks the view of the water. The pecan crunch desert is to die for! We had the redfish filleted and opened, calamari, wedge salad (big enough to share), and a grilled platter. All was delicious. Would definitely recommend.
Gaido is one of the seafood restaurants I like to visit in Galveston. It’s very conveniently located near the Seawall and food quality is very reliable. It has recently got renovated and added a lounge area where one can sip wine or beer while waiting in line for your table.
Delicious every time we go!!
Great food and service. We will definitely return.
Always a must stop for us when we visit Galveston! Gaido's never disappoints. I love it's charm.
Food is fresh and so delicious! Service excellent!
Great food. Kind of old building but cant wait to go back
The food was horrible and the value was way over priced Food was cooked in old butter and grease. The fried shrimp was not cooked, horrible food
Always OUTSTANDING food and service, a must stop when in Galveston.
Started with the wedge salad and was not disappointed. The lump crab was outstanding!!! The steak was cooked to perfection. When we visit Galveston again this will be a place we will visit again!
Always love this place. We got engaged here . Joe is always great with accommodating our new.
Consistent superior foood quality and service, but no lunch menu or prices variances making even a beer and two appetizers and a desert pricey at noon.
This has been one of my favorite restaurants, since I was A child. It is just as good today as I remember it 30+ years ago. The food is always delicious, the waitstaff is very professional, and though it is pricey it is worth the money.
Evan was our waiter, and everyone agreed he was the best waiter we’ve ever had. We loved his history of the restaurant as well as the island. He made us feel special by giving us a tour of the pelican room.
Good food and service. Knowledgeable staff.
Evan was our waiter and he was amazing. All of our food tasted amazing and we loved the experience.
Our server Alex was not very attentive, the waiter next to us helped get our drink refilled. That said we were disappointed in the service, not what we have had in the past.
Menus was just okay. There were choices and the sauces were wonderful. Doesn’t measure up to a Landry’s though. Service was not good but that was just our waiter. Seemed like other tables were getting good service. Given a choice I would recommend one of the many Landry’s brands available here.
Luis made my dinning for one the greatest experience. When I arrived he already knew what dish to suggest. I did let them know I didn’t eat fish of any kind. I had Crab Fingers and Grilled Scallops with Blue Lump Crap that was out of this world. Best place on the island and well worth the trip.

We have gone to Guido’s for 20 years, and have usually been very pleased. This time we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. There was a bad smell at our table, which I mentioned to our waiter right away. We had to repeat requests for utensils & butter, our waiter came back to clarify my order in a confusing way, a different waiter brought my side while we still had our salads, then my entree, both of which got cold while we waited for my husband’s entree, which was brought by yet another waiter & looked like an appetizer (scampi). The blue cheese grits were inedible, my shrimp was cold and not as good as usual, and overall we had a terrible meal. Our waiter said he spoke to the mgr several times, but the mgr never came to our table. I don’t think we’ll ever be back.
Perfect, as always!!
Food was excellent as was waiter. Had to wait 20 minutes past reservation time. Only negative in the entire evening.
It was as it should have been. We've been going to Gaido's for our anniversary for many years and they helped us celebrate our 18th with an enthusiastic A.J. as our server and it was everything we knew it would be. We'll be back soon.
We’ve been going to Gaidos for years. It’s the best seafood in Galveston, IMO. The fish is fresh caught, and the quality is always consistent. The menu has changed several times over the years, but you can always count on fresh quality seafood every visit. The desserts are amazing. You won’t be disappointed.
The food and service was top notch as it usually is.
We have had a condo or a bay or beach house in Galveston for 30 years. We love going to Gaido’s mainly because it is not a chain restaurant. The food is always fresh and excellently cooked. We always recommend it to all our friends who visit. We also recommend it to people we might meet while we are there in Galveston. It is a lovely tradition while visiting Galveston. We very much like that we can make reservations there now and have to wait a long time for a table.
Superb! Everyone was wonderful!
We went for our anniversary and couldn’t have picked a more perfect restaurant! The food was outstanding (especially the Spinach/Crab Dip), the service was great and the ambiance was so pleasant! It was one of the highlights of our trip and we can’t wait to come back!
Our reservation changed from 8 to 4 at the very last minute and they still managed to find us a table despite being pretty tightly booked. The cocktails were great, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent.
Marichka our waiter was super
Outstanding seafood. Service good. I highly recommend this establishment.
I went out with my family for my birthday. We had a variety of items. The wedge salad was presented beautifully, but could have used a bit more blue cheese dressing. I had the pan seared snapper which was delicious and paired it with a loaded baked potato, also delicious...salted skin and just the right amount of toppings. My husband had the crawfish pasta, which I would highly recommend. The alfredo sauce had a nutty smell and flavor, indicating that it was freshly made with parmesan cheese. The ribeye that my father-in-law had was beautiful. Grilled to medium rare perfection with the bone in. The pre-dinner bread with herbed olive oil was light and tasty. I loved the view from our table, right across from the Gulf. Our waiter was attentive, but a bit off. It almost felt like his fun facts about the restaurant was to the extent of bragging, such as "...having the second largest kitchen in Texas is a blessing and a curse". He also said that the toppings for the potato would come out on a spinning wheel with cups for each individual topping. Then he came back to ask what I wanted on my potato. Then he delivered my potato with the toppings on the side in little cups.
I did love the historic items in the lobby area that were encased in glass, such as the ivory items and the mosaic work on the floors.
All in all, the food was good, but be ready to drop a heavy dime.
