Nominated for Best New Restaurant and Best Chef in the James Beard Awards, Gado Gado is an Indonesian-focused restaurant in Portland’s Hollywood neighborhood serving an eclectic menu that derives flavors from owners Thomas and Mariah Pisha-Duffly’s cultural heritage, travels, and culinary backgrounds.

In addition to an extensive à la carte food and drink menu, groups are invited to indulge in a bountiful family-style, chef’s choice Rice Table dinner — Gado Gado’s interpretation of the Dutch-Indonesian “Rijsttafel” feast.

  • Singaporean Chili Crab

    Every Sunday and Monday come enjoy our special Singaporean Chili Crab dish. A jumbo Dungeness crab cooked in our sweet chili gravy is served over a bed of rice noodles with sweet rolls cooked in coconut herb butter. This dish is intended to serve 2-3 people and is $125 per dish. A $25 fee will incur for a no-show or a cancellation within 24 hours of your reservation. If you want more than one crab please utilize the add-on option to increase the amount.

    We enjoyed the Rice Table experience. There were four of us and there was plenty of food - we even took some home. The flavors are amazing and the craftsmanship of the food is impeccable. Drinks were delicious and staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The dining room is a bit noisy, but the food and beautiful ambiance help it fade. We look forward to going back.

    Everything is so good- not as intensely spicy as some similar venues in the area. Atmosphere is kitschy and casual but fun.

    We sat by the window & the bench was it great, comfort-wise. The people who sat in the chairs said that the chairs, on the other hand, were ultra-comfy. The food was great, & the service was smooth & cordial. We are definitely coming back.
