This is a fine restaurant, with excellent service and vert good food. The prices can be on the hight side.......the price for lamb chops is really ludicrous.....but overall, this is always a good stop prior to or after the opera.
The seating was jammed up next to other diners. The bread they served was like dried out toast so we asked if they had any fresh bread. They took our basket of bread and microwaved it to soften it. It tasted pathetic. We ordered salmon and when it came out, the poppy seed topping was all burnt so it was like eating burnt toast. We were very polite, but the manager asked us to leave rather than make our dinner right. He was very arrogant and rude. We left and got a great meal at The Landmark Restaurant right across the street. We also ordered salmon at The Dizzy Coca Cola Club. It was great also. I would never go back to Gabriel or recommend it to anyone. Don't waste you money at Gabriels. This restaurant is a pathetic excuse for a so called high-end restaurant. I suspect they stay in business by preying on unending tourists who frequent Lincoln Center and other venues at that location. Less than 1 star if we could!
Gabriels is my favorite restaurant in the Columbus Circle/Lincoln Center neighborhood and has been for many years. The food is meticulously prepared, the staff treats everyone like a "regular", and are warm and solicitous. These days many restaurants (Atlantic Grill's front room, The Smith Lincoln Center are two that come to mind) are horribly loud. This restaurant has the PERFECT noise level; just enough so that it feels vibrant and but not so you have to yell or can't hear what the server is saying. Tonight my husband had the special black sea bass with potatoes and vegetables and, as the weather was still chilly, I opted for the short ribs with polenta and mushrooms from the winter menu. They were both wonderful. Then we enjoyed chocolate cake for dessert. While it may be somewhat pricey, I believe it is totally worth it to have consistently well prepared seasonal food in a welcoming and comfortable environment. A perfect start to a perfect evening at the New York Philharmonic!
The food and service were excellent but the restaurant is extremely expensive. We had one appetizer, 2 pasta dishes, no alcohol and no dessert and the tab was $125.
So consistently flavorful through the years. Can’t be beat!
For years this has been avery commendable neighborhood gem. Convenient to Columbus Circle and all transportation. The food is always, fabulous, fresh and creative. There isn't a better Italian Place here or in Italy. The service is fabulous as well. It is the best.
Gabriel's - a fine host, beautiful setting and flowers, fabulous food, and the best waiters in NYC! What's not to love - always, always fabulous.
Great food, sound level excellent for talking, very attentive waiter, follow-up phone call after reservation by staff to check on what I would like them to write on the birthday dessert, quick and efficient handling of the check (when we needed to hurry to our show). Prices are not cheap but well worth it especially if you're celebrating a special occasion.
The restaurant has very good food. However, it was very noisy, the service was okay but not great, and the prices seemed very high for the resulting experience.
Great for quiet conversation, not overwhelmingly noisy, very classy.
Great food and great service .
Muy buen servicio. Eramos 7 personas. 5 personas nos encantó la comida. Las chuletas de cordero 100% recomendables!!!
I had made a reservation to meet a friend for his birthday and made a note that we were celebrating a birthday on the reservation. The host reminded me of the birthday celebration when we checked in. I reminded the waiter of it and nothing was done. Very disappointing. The risotto special was bland but my friend enjoyed the anchovies on the Caeser salad. Service was slow and we had to wait quite a while for the bill. I had been there previously and the food and service were better . Let’s hope this was just a bad night because the restaurant is close to where we stay in NYC
Delightful with great service. You won't be disappointed.
Outstanding in all regards. I will go back
FOOD WAS FABULOUS,SERVICE WAS FABULOUS,PRICEY BUT WORTH IT. GABRIEL'S NEVER
DISAPPOINTS. IT IS THE OLD STORY. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! I will vontinue to return as often as I can
I love Gabriels. The food is always good and it is elegant, quiet and the service is excellent
Consistently excellent food. The Poussin with garlic mashed potatoes was beautifully presented and delicious as was the Branzino. Great bartending as well. The drinks are expensive but generous pours
The food is very tasty and it's a quiet place for a productive business meal. I hadn't been there in a few years and found the food as good as ever.
The food and service don't get any better than at Gabriel's which justifies the slightly pricey tab.
Each time we dine there it's always superb!
Location, food, ambiance, price were all very good. The server in particular was excellent.
Menu was fairly basic and frankly surprisingly limited. One might observe that it's more appropriate for tourists going to a nearby show or event than even moderately experienced local diners. Bottom-line, service, ambiance, location exceeded food but it's okay as a package.
Gabriel's is reliably excellent. The food is always expertly prepared, though I wish the lunch menu included a few more small plate options.
Went here for a dinner with a close friend who was in town. Very impressed that we could sit and enjoy a nice dinner and talk. Sound level was very low. Service was great and food great. I will recommend and go there again.
We were going to Lincoln Center with a friend from out of town. It was expensive but worth it. Food was delicious. My friend had the Tortellini with
Lamb garlic filling, tomato porcini mushroom sauce, he loved it and I was surprised it was deliciousl. The service was attentive and knowledgeable. The decor, classy and not ostentatious. Waiter did not know something, so instead of making it up, he went and found out the answer. Only problem, on the pricey side. But worth every penny
One of the best places to eat in this area, and the food never disappoints. This was an special occasion and we really enjoyed ourselves.
Always, consistently good. Been going here for almost 20’years and were never disappointed. Gave and his entire staff make you feel like you’re just as important as all of the celebrities that eat there. And it’s like eating at an old friends place. Warm, and inviting and always so delicious. No airs, not stuffy, but understated class. Highly recommend without reservation!
Wonderful, creative food; one of the best waiters we’ve ever had anywhere! Can’t wait to go back!
An excellent meal with rather large portions. Efficient and friendly service. Close to Lincoln Center. The only drawback is that prices are a bit high.
Friendly. Reliable. Close to Lincoln Center for pre- or post- concerts.
Wonderful place to have great food. The menu choices are just right. The service was efficient.
We had not been back to Gabriel's in several years, but did so this weekend after the ballet. We were so happy we did. We were warmly welcomed personally by Gabriel who found us a quiet seat as requested. The food and service was outstanding. My tuna with fresh beets and spinach was perfectly cooked. All the desserts were delicious. We couldn't have been happier. To our delight, they brought us prosecco on the house along with an extra dessert. It was a fun evening and our waiter was entertaining and full of good information. This is a great place for pre or post theater meal. The bar is also very welcoming. This is a neighborhood find with a lot of personality and charm in a warm inviting environment.
it happens to be one of my favorites on the west side!!
Nice, neighborhood type restaurant (if your neighborhood is Columbus Circle). Good food, good service, quiet crowd.
The Bronzino main dish was very good, but the endive, apple and blue cheese salad and grilled calamari appetizer were outstanding!
Fantastic! From the moment we walked in, welcomed by one of the owners; to the superb service - which did not want for anything; to the delicious food...mmmm. Can’t wait to go back. This is definitely on the list for repeat.
We always enjoy our meal at this restaurant. The service is impeccable. There is always someone there to make sure you have everything you need without feeling as if you are constantly being interrupted. For me service and food quality is very important. Excellent location for Lincoln Center Jazz or for the Opera at Lincoln center. I don't feel it is too expensive for the experience. It is good value for the service and the quality of the food. There are always specials which keep the menu interesting.
Authentic Italian close to Columbus Circle. I love the ribs meat over soft polenta!
Very nice restaurant, friendly, excellent service, and a good restaurant week menu.
The short ribs were great.
