Gabriel's Bar & Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I usually stop off at Gabriel's alone and sit at the bar. There usually is an interesting conversation or two going on that is often easy to join in. Scott the bartender is great and remembers your drink if you come in more than a couple of times. Their risotto al giorno is cooked the right way - to order - and is fantastic. One of my favorite spots in Manhattan.
Always a pleasure. Particularly like lunch before major holiday weekends when it is quieter. Mention to someone that you have been to Gabriel’s and the response almost always is “oh, I really like Gabriel’s.” Enjoyed chopped red endive with Gorgonzola dressing; carrot soup, special fish of the day with wonderful spinach and garlic, blood orange sorbet, Ridge Lytton Springs Zinfandel. Happy 2018 to excellent staff.
I had the Fettuccine and it was super hard and stiff. It was not soft and delicate like pasta is supposed to be. And they had my table right next to the door so whenever anyone walked in we would feel this freezing cold wind gust. Definitely will not be returning due to the thousands of other amazing Italian restaurants in NYC.
Not easy pleasing 4 teenage girls celebrating post high school exams but with 8-10 hand crafted pasta dishes on the menu, it was easy. I had the ahi tuna dish after an amazing grilled octopus appetizer. Three glasses of yummy Italian chardonnay made it all go down easy....service was outstanding by a hard working Albanian waiter who spoke very good italian.... truly a splendid meal and the girls all ordered take out desserts so they could feast while watching Friends reruns on Netflix until bedtime....
Everyone enjoyed their food except for one of the pasta dishes which was the mezzaluna. It was supposed to be filled with a pine nut ricotta with a yellow tomato mascarpone sauce. The pasta just had spinach inside without any ricotta and the sauce was extremely watery the mascarpone was missing! When I showed waitress she quickly told me that’s how it’s supposed to be!!?? Very disappointing part of the evening.
Welcome was lovely and we were ushered towards a cozy booth as I had mentioned we were celebrating our wedding anniversary..
Luciano our waiter was wonderful and fun -making helpful suggestions and attentive throughout our dinner - the chocolate “happy anniversary” note on the plate of our dessert was unexpected and very appreciated - the restaurant was welcoming - elegant - and the soft atmosphere was a welcome relief from the usual high sound level of other restaurants nearby — we definitely enjoyed
Having chosen Gabriel for our Anniversary !!
Thank you Luciano .. thank you all !
This is a first rate restaurant from start to finish. We were warmly greeted when we walked in and promptly taken to a table. Our server was attentive. Specials recited (sans prices) a personal bugaboo. We had shared a salad and burrata to start. Salad was lightly dressed and burrata was fresh. My wife had mussels appetizer for a main meal. It was a good portion in a tomato based broth. Not one dud. I had the spinach stuffed moon shaped ravioli which was superb and made freshly in house. We shared an excellent chocolate gelato for dessert. My only criticism is pricing but as in most instances you get what you pay for.
The menu looks simple, but the preparation exceeds expectations. Standouts this time included the tagliatelle with quail and mushrooms, mushroom lasagna, branzino. And because it is in the outer orbit of Lincoln Center, Gabriel's is less hectic than some of the other fine options on Broadway. An excellent choice pre or post concert / opera /theater.
