The food is always fine there. It doesnt blow you away, it is never bad. The service, however, is typically attentive and competent. The service last night was horrendous. The waiter couldnt answer simple questions about the dishes without going back to the kitchen, my wife's salad was supposed to have candied walnuts, and when they were not there she asked for some. It took 15 minutes, and when they finally arrived they brought crushed pistachios which were not candied. . By that time the salad was pretty much finished anyway. This is not the first time they changed a dish we ordered without letting us know. It was impossible to find a waiter when we needed water, and at the end of the evening we had to physically get up and find someone in order to get the check. I dont begrudge a restaurant charging a lot for meals, but if you are going to charge for an experience, you need to perform to the level of you pricing. I go here a lot. It's a block from my apartment. Taking it out of the regular rotation.

Well, unfortunately when i made the reservation for 3PM on Sunday i was not advised that the kitchen closes at 3:50 - my guests arrived late and we had to rush through the ordering - there was no rush to eat or to sit, just to the ordering. In addition, we were the only ones in the interior of the restaurant, probably because the kitchen was closing. It does that in between lunch and dinner. I love the restaurant - the food is superb. I got there early and had to wait 15 minutes and severl reminders before a waiter came over and took my drink order. Finally, the bus person took it. So that was bad form. I would most definitely go back but knowing the constraints, make a reservation for a different time.

Don't bother for restaurant week. The dining options are fairly lame. Caprese salad had one thin slice of tomato lol. Perhaps order from the regular menu.

What a beautiful venue! We went for dinner and everything was perfect. The hostess was accommodating and kind. The design of the space is stunning - tranquil and very comfortable. The service was attentive and the food was a 10! Hot items were served HOT and chilled items were cold. The timing between courses was consistent. and the menu options were broad, so there was something for every taste. A fantastic place! We will return.

The food was excellent, especially the Dover Sole…however the food was on the pricey side. There were six of us….we each had one cocktail. We ordered five appetizers and each had an entrée and dessert….also ordered one dessert for the table. Our bill came to a $1000. The food was delicious and portion sizes were more than adequate!

My husband and I love Gabriel's. The food is always great, with an interesting menu and lots of daily specials. The room is beautifully designed and decorated. But what really stands out are the people: Gabriel and his sons and the rest of the staff are always welcoming, friendly, and engaging. It feels like a family restaurant, which is rare in New York. We choose Gabriels for our special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries and also for daily dining. I recommend it to both locals and visitors.

The food was excellent and creatively presented. It was also authentic. I had risotto which was perfect. Ps I Iived in Italy for 3 years My guest was also impressed and that was important. Also the owner Gabriel made it personal and with a home feel.
