Gabriel's Bar & Restaurant
Roasted butternut squash stuffed ravioli, brown butter, sage
Veal, beef & pancetta bolognese, creamy tomato sauce, parmesan
Gabriel's famous tomato basil sauce, fresh mozzarella cheese
the warmth and importance that everyone gives plus the great food selection is a true bargain
Small potions fir the money. I will not return.
Super attentive service. Lovely ambience. We ate outdoors but walked indoors. The interior is really nice!
Excellent all around. Food was amazing.
Couldn’t wait to visit their new location! It’s is a beautiful art filled elegant space. Had my favorite dish and my guest had the tuna and loved it! Perfect evening out.
This was my second experience at Gabriels. I will be back!!
Newly reopened Gabriel’s is back with a bang. Hooray! We tasted nearly everything on the menu (in preview) and everything was delicious especially the Ravioli Zucca (butternut squash), the Tagliatelle Bolognese, the Tonno Grigliato, the special Risotto with Peas and Proscuitto, and the Rice Pudding. We didn’t get to try but heard rave reviews from other diners about the Cozze alle Gabriel’s (mussels), Gnocchi Sorrentina, Linguine alle Vongole, and the Costolette do Agnelo (lamb chops). The atmosphere is light and convivial with a little bit of stardust. Bravo Gabriel Aiello and team!
Very charming hosts! Outstanding service and ambience.
So glad Gabriel’s is back. NYC’s dining scene was much poorer without it!
Wonderful food! Nice atmosphere as well!
Gabriel’s is the same excellent food, drinks, service and atmosphere, but in a much better space. They did a truly excellent job bringing this necessary restaurant back. The very best, especially for a pré -theatre dinner. Thank goodness!
So glad Gabriel's is back, and still serving their reliably delicious Italian food. The service is solicitous w/o being intrusive, lovely fresh flowers adorned the table. The new 'room' is not quite as homey as that at the old location, and the bar is generic compared to the wood and dark lighting, old NYC style, in the prior spot — but all still good. And when we did get a drink at the table, an excellent gin & tonic arrived that was generously poured. Welcome back and so glad you are back! Great spot for foodies who want to talk to each other.
A spectacular return to form for Gabriel’s.
Delicious food, terrific/attentive service and an elegant environment make for a great dining experience.
Amazing to have this place back on the scene! Meal was excellent, Gabe was glowing, and Ill be back!
Congratulations to Gabriels for their new space (warm but elegant), their new menu (delicious preparation) and the friendly neighborhood service and ambience that made them popular!
So happy for CPS and NYC that they are open! Happy eating!
Absolutely wonderful evening out and the gnocchi was the best I ever had!
Gabriel is warm and generous and caring. That makes the dining experience very special. Great new location. Great staff. Great food. Great chef. Great dinner. Great restaurant. Bravo!
Food and service are fabulous. Can't wait until they re-open in their new location.
We came for a birthday dinner. 2 people sat 10 minutes before us. When the birthday boy and I joined it took 15/20 minutes for a server to come pour us water or take our drink order. Then I ordered Bolognese- my favorite. The noodles were not even close to al dente. Mush. And the sauce was NOT a traditional Bolognese sauce. It was creamy and too creamy at that. When I asked for more of meat sauce with pasta it came back with tomato sauce and NO meat. I ate my main when everyone else already finished and was NOT enjoyable. The best part was the celebrity star sightings. How disappointing to spend almost $400 and have a mediocre experience with sub par food :( not what I expected.
Wonderful evening... excellent food, great wine and warm, intelligent, and caring Service from Raoul & Eddie....
a most treasured place for memorable evenings in New York.
We enjoyed the restaurant very much good service ,food was very good. I would like to go again in the new location when it is ready.
Neighbourhood standby and survivor ! Totally reliable and satisfying re: food and attentive service. Also convenient for pre- performance at Lincoln Center.
Gonna miss this place when it moves😢
My husband and I are enormously grateful to Gabriel for accommodating us in what amounted to a private dining room, after the disastrous loss of a walker wheel. We could not have been happier or more appreciative. The food was fantastic, better than ever. We loved our salvaged evening. A thousand thanks.
Gabriel is the most gracious of hosts. Food is always so well prepared and delicious and the service is impeccable.
We are out of towners but have been coming here for well over 25 years on almost every trip to the city.
Wish Gabriel well in the new location and will visit again soon.
Sad to learn it will be closing soon. Hope they will find a new location.
LOVE this restaurant and hope it reopens in a new location in future. Didn't have a fabulous experience on Wednesday. Didn't love the tuna crudo, not flavorful enough and giant chunks of tuna. Not sure hummus is the best garnish. Pasta of the day with shrimp and scallops was just OK, pasta was mushy and full of onions, which were not mentioned in the description. It wasn't as great a pasta as I have expected at Gabriel's.
Ate yet another great $35 three course lunch - delicious filet mignon cooked to perfection - love the ambience, most attractive room. Restaurant is closing this month and will re-open in different location in October/November. Suggest you eat there soon - am sad to see it move.
We had a very unfortunate conversation with the Maitre d'. Tuna was ordered med/rare, and it came to the table looking grey/beige, was the size and shape of a thick filet of meat, and when my guest cut it, it was not med/rare. Our waitress was very nice, but unable to do anything about it and had to ask the manager to come to our table. He was surly and argumentative, but finally agreed to take it back to the kitchen, and my guest ordered the veal chop instead. This conversation never should have happened! When anything comes to a table, and it was not "as ordered", there should be NO argument about it, and should generate an apology instead of an argument. It was very uncomfortable moment, and I was tempted to return his rudeness but did not, because I have been dining at Gabriel's since the mid-80s, and it's my "go to" restaurant more than many others. I've never seen such terrible service, as we experienced that evening. It was shocking. My Octopus, the wine and the veal shop were very good, and so was dessert. That's why I gave the experience a much higher rating than a wanted to.
I would rather have peanut butter and crackers. Terrible food. Ordered the veal Milanese special. It was gross. The butternut squash pasta was disgraceful. The “homemade” gelato so sub par.
Great place, great food and drinks, quiet, very pleasant ambience
Attractive restaurant - good food - quiet - attentive service - great lunch special of 3 courses for $35 - I had the best filet mignon. Restaurant is closing 3rd week July and will reopen early November in Central Park South. I suggest you visit now - this is a special place.
Consistently excellent. We have been coming here for years, it is always great.
We have been going to Gabriel's for as long as it has been in this location--which was not a pretty address when it started--but is now pretty much in the center of the world. (Even longer a customer of Gabriel, himself, when he was downtown.) It was and is a glorious spot to dine, especially if you like the feeling of being in someone's excellent dining room, with friendly, reliable service from people you have grown to know over the years. It is a menu and a place sui generis. I doesn't look, feel or taste like any other place. And you can have a conversation, frequently, while sitting a few tables away from someone pretty famous. And oh, yes, the best Martinis in town.
Service was awful. For a restaurant that is as expensive as Gabriel’s, I expected much more. Won’t be back.
Excellent service and amazing food. Took our CEO there while in town. He is very discerning and loves good food. We requested quick service and they delivered! Thank you
Wonderful food. Veal milenqse, lamb, superb! Great service. Family owned and they care!!
The food is very good; we tried a wonderful starter which was some sort of cold cucumber soup and our mains of seabass and gnocchi were very tatsteful. The tiramasu was a delightful finale. We left happy and feeling we had paid top dollar for such happiness.
sure going to miss the location and the ambience of my home away from home but look forward to celebrating when they are in their new location!
