Gabrielle Charleston in Hotel Bennett
What a perfect location for lunch! The food is fantastic and the staff is world class. Great value too!
We had brunch here the last time we were in town. That experience was flawless. We took our daughter and son-in-law today. When they arrived, the hostess was on her phone texting causing them to wait until she was finished. My daughter had to ask for syrup for her Belgian waffle. Two of our group had coffee but never received refills. For a hotel of this caliber, we were surprised to say the least.
Horrible service. Took over an hour to order food.
Beautiful new venue, the property seems to be a very good addition to Charleston but after living here for more than twenty years I have always said that its difficult to get a bad meal in CHS. Can't say that anymore. Went with a party of six and without exception dinner was the worst I have ever experience in town. Starting with the Oysters Rockefeller - they looked like they were topped with baby food spinach and no taste at all. Main courses ranged from fish (tiny tail end and dry) to beef (very over cooked) to Quail (which was an embarrassment to our fine State). Very disappointing as I can not remember the last time I sent something back. They only positives were the lobby bar, beautiful and good service, and the valet parking. May go back for a drink, but from my point of view, they don't have a restaurant.
Overall, the experience was fine. Service was very good but not excellent. As a table of four we ordered an array of items and there was not a single moment of excitement about the creativity or deliciousness of the meal. Cocktails were delightful which helped the experience but did not mask the par cuisine.
Excellent food and great ambiance. Service was excellent until the entrees came and then the service crawled to a near halt. Several large tables arrived but it surely was not a surprise they were coming?
Just lovely! We loved having drinks at Camellias before our dinner. The presentation was outstanding a day everything was exquisite and delicious. The severs made us feel very special. We even had a lovely, romantic spot next to the window. We will definitely dine again. Beautiful!
The day I ate lunch there it was practically empty. Not a good sign. I had the mixed salad with tuna. I expected sushi grade fresh tuna, but what I got instead was pale, dry tuna that seemed to come from a can. I will give the kitchen the benefit of the doubt and assume they poached it. But the result still looked and tasted like canned tuna. Either way, for $19 it wasn't what I expected. The place is beautiful, the service was attentive, but I doubt I will be back any time soon. I hope things get better.
Beautiful ambiance with piano music playing softly in the background. Our dinner was excellent as was the exceptional service from Colin. This is our new favorite restaurant when we visit Charleston.
Wonderful high class atmosphere in a beautiful new hotel on Marion Squareheart of CHS. We enjoyed the grilled octopus app. The wedge was classic and warm sliced bacon on top was a treat. All of the entrees for party of 5 were top notch. Seafood dishes stand out. October wonderful time to visit with moderate weather and minimal crowds
It was our first time dining at the Gabrielle. We enjoyed the experience, and look forward to dining there in the near future.
The food was amazing. The Duck was incredible. Our service was superb. To top it off the chef came out and visited our table to see how our dinner was and to talk for a little bit. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food, atmosphere and service at a fine dinning establishment!
Steak overcooked but everything else was good
The big negative was a $12 valet parking fee to dine at their restaurant.
Had such a wonderful time celebrating my friend’s birthday here! The food and service was unmatched.
It was a birthday gathering for a beautiful young lady named Gabrielle! From beginning to end, everyone we encountered was courteous, kind and well spoken! Our waiter was impeccable!!! Anything we asked for he graciously got for us!
To say that we are impressed whenever we dine at The Gabrielle, would be a drastic understatement! The Gabrielle IS the best of the best in restaurants in Charleston, SC!
We stayed at Hotel Bennett and enjoyed virtually all the Hotel’s amenities except the SPA.... what an awesome place to stay....Gabrielle’s was incredible... The oysters casino were absolutely superb. The best. My wife had the crab cake....100% crab and very tasty. Her entree was the eggs Bennett...wow ! What an answer choice. I had the NY Strip with green peppercorn cream sauce and brown butter mushrooms. Off the hook, good! Two days earlier, we had dinner at Hall chophouse....Gabrielle’s was better food at a better price point....excellent service and ambiance....a must when visiting Charleston....
First time there. Food and service were excellent. Celebrated with a special treat.
Outstanding service, food, atmosphere can’t wait to return
Eggs Bennett are amazing
Amazing staff, extremely attentive and polite, truly a 5 star + experience I would recommend to anyone. Food was amazing, fresh, presented lovely.
My daughters 24th Birthday!
We decided to try the Gabrielle during restaurant week and made reservations for a 7pm seating.
There were only a few customers in the restaurant at this time and so I thought my husband and I would be able to have a quiet dinner. There was only one other couple sitting nearby. After we placed our order, another couple was seated right next to us even though there were many other open tables.
The food was excellent and the service good. The seating arrangements were awkward and made serving difficult - tables for 2 placed very close together. What could have been a most memorable dinner was just a fairly good experience.
Excellent!! Great Prices for resturant week!!
We were out with friends for lunch after a tour at the Aquarium. They had never dined at Gabrielle, (we had) and so it was new to them. We all had a wonderful lunch and great service. We will come again, and have told many friends about this great new restaurant!!
Wonderful food and service. Love the decor.
We all ordered from the restaurant week menu. Food was excellent, service was outstanding!
Everyone from the moment we arrived was extremely professional and courteous.
The service was excellent and our dinner was fantastic! All four of us will return
We dined at Gabrielle after a matinee Chamber Music Performance with friends. We thought this would be a perfect opportunity to try Gabrielle. It was quiet when we arrived at 5:00, so we could hear the conversation, the service was wonderful with our attentive, friendly, waiter (Colin), and the food was excellent! We will definitely tell our friends about this restaurant, and we will return.
We were a little disappointed in the Sunday menu but enjoyed the food. The beef grillades were a little tough, but everything else was good.
The special restaurant week menu was not good... and the drink prices were outrageous
We once again ventured to a new restaurant during Charleston's restaurant week. We're so glad we chose Gabrielle. The food was excellent and the service was exceptional. Before our meal we were presented with fresh vichyssoise along with some warm bread and creamy butter.
I started with the end of summer zucchini soup while my wife went with the ceasar salad. Both were excellent (I ate half the salad). For the main course my wife had the fried flounder almondine with fresh spinach and I had the eggs Bennett; basically eggs benedict with a filet mignon medallion. The flounder was crisp and flavorful and my wife typically doesn't like spinach actually liked this preparation (I also ate half of the spinach to help Jerry out). The eggs Bennett was outstanding, a very different dish. We finished with thre chocolate tort and poached pear. Delicious, and yes I had some of my wife's. Claire, our server was wonderful. Checking in on us at various stages but not intruding. She was a delight, very personable as was all thre wait staff. It's not inexpensive but I think worth the price.
We chose from the Restaurant Week luncheon menu and were pleased by the variety of choices. The curried chicken dish was savory and delicious, the salad large and very tasty. The deviled egg appetizer was flavorful and the pickled onion on top a good addition. Dessert was a vanilla bean macaron. Good, but not enough. So, we ordered the Camellia Cake. Wow!! Very special- no details, as I don't want to ruin the diners' surprise. We will definitely return to Gabrielle.
This was our first visit to Gabrielle, but it won't be our last. Excellent and attentive service. The food was quite good (as at so many restaurants in Charleston). The noise level was unacceptable.
Excellent food service a little slow. We only saw our waiter twice and had at least four others take care of us, which is fine, but it took time to get drink refills.
Beautiful setting and excellent service! One meal had a very salty sauce.
The service was excellent but the filet of beef with my delicious eggs Bennett was tough and very disappointing.
Excellent experience for our 41st wedding anniversary. Thank you for making it special! Service and food was excellent!
In one word impeccable. Thank you for the excellent experience.
