Contemporary Southern
Gabrielle Charleston marries Old-World allure with the character of the South within an elegant and inviting atmosphere overlooking Charleston’s historic Marion Square. Drawing from his culinary background working extensively in both Europe and New Orleans, Executive Chef Michael Sichel has developed a menu that is inspired by the bounty of Coastal Carolina. Featuring the city’s finest outdoor dining terrace, the refined and lively restaurant is classically Charlestonian, serving guests daily with quintessential hospitality, warmth and grace. Arched floor-to-ceiling windows ascend over the restaurant’s exquisite bar, serving craft cocktails, shimmering oysters, Belgian frites and more. Beyond, the enchanting two-story dining room delivers intimate spaces, fine wines and premium cuts of steaks and sustainable seafood – creating an experience exclusive to The Holy City.

We were in for lunch and loved it all. The setting is absolutely stunning and we were treated to first class service. The crab bisque was the best we have had and the chefs grain mustard vinaigrette on the salads was amazing. Definitely will be back!

Much of what we ordered was overly salted , one mushroom side dish in particular was so salty it was inedible.
It is shame as the space is pretty and the service good. The Chef needs to work on the food, it was just not as good as it should be and dial the salt WAY back!!

Thank you for taking the time to tell us that you found the food to be overly salted. We want everyone to enjoy every element of their experience with us and if we were made aware that you did not enjoy any part of your meal, we would have loved to prepare you a new plate. Although we pride ourselves in consistent, high quality food, sometimes we make mistakes and just ask to be given an opportunity to make it right. Thank you again, and we do hope you give us the chance to host you again.

I found my breakfast out with friends a little disappointing. I had higher expectations for both food and service at Gabrielle’s.

Had to navigate our way to table until finally seated. No hostess to greet as you enter restaurant area. A couple of managers were walking about as servers were attempting to be attentive. It was like a free for all.

I speak English rather well I think and believed I had communicated to our server that I wanted to order a cup of oatmeal with fresh berries on the side. I believed I was being heard and repeated my order a couple of times expecting that this request would be honored as the Oatmeal item was not listed on the menu. The server responded that “ this can be done.”

When food arrived nothing looked like what I had
ordered; I received a half filled mixed berries side and no oatmeal- instead it was granola. Didn’t want to make a fuss so asked for at least yogurt to go with, but not great that they didn’t comp me or discover that I had not received the oatmeal ~ at this point the dining experience was heading downhill. Had to ask for coffee refills and at one point another server poured coffee into a tea cup!

I think a review and training of staff would be appropriate here as this was not a professional/efficient approach to serving diners and especially at such a higher end hotel that has a historical reputation, local owner and is brand new on the Charleston hotels scene.

Will not return until service becomes more up to speed and the staff and management irons things out in the food and beverage area.

Too bad, Hotel is in a great location and interior is luxurious—I would have liked to make Gabrielle’s my go to dining destination for breakfast when I’m in town.

Good day Klee, I'm sorry to hear about your service at Gabrielle. The experience you received is not our standard and it appears we had several opportunities to try to turn this around and were not able to catch our mistakes. I want to assure you that this is not typical and we would love the opportunity to host you again and deliver the service you deserved on your maiden visit.

Old friends visiting together ! The Eggs Bennett were pedestrian.
Meat was over cooked and dried out - - possibly prepared in advance. Awful l. Eggs were not poached correctly .. Also mushed & dried out. The Toast underneath was soggy. The smoked salmon was excellent. Breakfast rolls were excellent.
Bellini tasted funny - - not typical. Coffee was excellent. Server was excellent. Price was high considering no obvious valet parking assistance. Not coming back considering this place was SOOOOO incondistent. Exec Chef’s menu was mediocre .. He is likely overpaid. Needs to go to culinary school to learn how to manage. Yuck !

Beautiful spaces and outstanding service. But to be 5 stars the small touches are lacking. Camilla’s(the champagne bar) needs some munchies to pair with the cocktails. As we were having a drink prior to our dinner reservations we didn’t want to order an appetizer but would have liked something to munch on with our drinks. Bar tender said others had this same comment so why had it not been addressed?

Menu in Gabrielle’s not as extensive as other Charleston restaurants appealing to same customers(Grill 225, Charleston Place or Peninsula Grill) My husbands grouper was extremely small(maybe 4 oz at most) and menu needs to reflect seasonality( most things were on the heavy side) I loved the chicken but the rich brown sauce and grits made it seem more of a heavy winter offering. The Caesar salad was wonderful but was so large sharing would be recommended.

As locals, we dine out in Charleston several times a week. I hope Gabrielle’s improves their menu as the dining space is beautiful.

Service was top notch. Brandon was very knowledgeable. Unfortunately the evening ended with another flaw in their operations, the valet parking. You had to pay at the front hotel desk to retrieve your car. With only one staff member and a quirky computer system we had to wait a very long time behind hotel guests just to pay to get our car, then wait again out front for the valet to retrieve it( probably 25 minutes total to get our car). We had been to Grill 225 two nights before and not only is their valet less expensive but our car was waiting for us when we finished our meal!

For a hotel and restaurant that wants to be top tier and charges prices accordingly the Hotel Bennett has some work to do.

Very upscale in all the right ways. Attention to detail from start to finish and incredible food. Best steak and Lamp chops that we have had in Charleston. It was a 30th wedding anniversary dinner and we could not have been more satisfied. Beautiful, and relaxed ambiance. Don't miss the the very impressive rooftop bar up on top either before or after your meal.

Our Easter dinner was served by a very friendly and efficient staff. The food was delicious. Our salad was split between us--luckily--since the serving would have been huge, even by Charleston standards. The gnocci with shellfish was perfectly cooked, as was the lamb, although the portion was too large. We had a glass each of the Burgundian chardonnay, a barbera, and a Duckhorn merlot, all excellent. The only negative aspect of the experience was the $12 dollar (validated at the front desk!) charge for valet parking. When we return we won't be using the valet service.

Our family met at Gabrielle for dinner recently to celebrate a birthday. Everything from the spacious table in the beautiful dining room to the cocktails and delicious food was top notch! The Duck Gumbo did not disappoint and won rave reviews (which is high praise considering one of us is NOLA born & bred.) The Funfetti Birthday Cake was the perfect finishing touch complete with a candle for the birthday boy. Thank you, Marty and all the attentive folks who helped ensure our evening was perfect. We will be back again and again!

Chef Michael wrote a message on my menu for my birthday! Benjamin did an amazing job keeping the team serving on point. He even started us with complimentary champagne for my birthday. I had the Filet Oscar with a Soft Shell Crab on top (only available in season).

The food and service are second to none. They are truly an elite operation and their attention to detail shows.

This meal was an incredibly disappointing. I went in with very high hopes but they were all crushed. The space is beautiful, but that’s where the positives end. The service was average at best and the food was a colossal failure. Between two of us, we had 6 dishes and there was nothing we ate that we had any interest in eating again. Given the range of options in Charleston for fine dining, there’s no need to waste time or money on Gabrielle. The only reason I’m not giving them one star in because the space is stunning - and yet even in that regard, the two top tables are so unnecessarily long that you find yourself so far away from your dinner companion that any conversation becomes an unintended shouting match.

Superb. Decor and architecture is unmatched in Charleston. Service is outstanding! The Caesar Salad is quite possibly the best I’ve ever tasted and the French Onion Soup could serve as a meal on its own because of its heartiness...perfection!!! The true gem of the experience was the staff. Impeccable service and individuals that make you feel at home even in the most luxurious surroundings. Whether a special occasion, or just a dinner on the town, the only thing you will regret is if you do not dine here!

This was my second time visiting Gabrielle. both times for lunch and both time absolutely delicious
I want more!! First time I have the Eggs "Bennett" . We started with the mushroom bisque the fried sage topping just made it incredibly good. My poached eggs cooked perfectly as well as the
tenderloin. So tender I cut it with fork.
Second visit I had the local catch with slaw on a brioche bun. The comeback sauce mixed with the cabbage is just enough heat but not overdone at all. The fish was a perfectly grilled piece of groups. Delicious.
Our first visit we sat upstairs but it was such a beautiful day we say outside Monday.
Give it a try, bet you will go back

Well overpriced for the quality of food when you compare to many other downtown Charleston restaurants. However the hotel in general is beautiful. Not planning to return to the restaurant but may go back to the rooftop bar for the view. The rooftop bar was very overpriced and the service was very slow but had a great view of the Charleston Harbor.

Hotel Bennett and Gabrielle’s fine dining have set a new standard of dining excellence not to only in Charleston but in the entire United States, in our opinion. We frequently dine at. Restaurants on the Peninsula and have experienced delicious food and great service; however, our experience at the Bennett was unexcelled. From valet parking to our pre-dinner drink in the luxurious bar, to the glorious soft shell crab, we were simply delighted!
The original art collection throughout the Common areas of the property is extensive and Southern. We will return for a visit to the champagne and caviar bar, which was quite popular during our visit to Gabrielles as was the beautiful rooftop bar. Be advised: this luxurious experience was pricey— but well worth every dollar we spen.’

Two of us ordered the eggs Bennett and both English muffin bottoms were so hard they wouldn’t cut with a knife. The filet on the eggs as well as the filet entree were over salted. Tried to order the Camellias cake dessert but were told it could only be ordered in the Camellias bar. Went to the bar to order the cake - they were out!
