At G2B in Durham, patrons can enjoy a combination of contemporary American cuisine with a wide selection of quality craft beers. In addition to offering numerous craft beers on tap from all over the world, G2B also maintains an in-house nano-brewery and serves its own rotating list of creations.
Executive Chef Travis Robinson has a passion for craft beers and a background in fine dining. Before G2B, he worked in such celebrated restaurants as The Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta’s Bacchanalia and others. Working with talented sous-chef Bill Harrison, Travis offers a delicious selection of creative American fare that pairs well with G2B’s craft beer menu.

The food here is always fantastic. It's a pleasant, relaxed dining experience. The service was not as great as usual on this visit but the manager addressed our concerns and our group was happy with our dining experience. It was a first time visit for our friends and they said they would come back again.
3 years since we last visited G2B and we were as impressed as we were the first time. Ambiance is very urban/cosmopolitan. Service was excellent, just the right amount of attention and not pushy or intrusive. Food was well prepared and interesting. May be a little heavy on the salt, but might just be our palate. Will definitely return in the future.
We have dined at G2B from its start, and stayed with it, enjoyed it, and sometimes suffered through its multiple iterations of cuisine changes and chefs. We were happier when recently, in addition to the more exotic options, they also offered more pedestrian items on the menu that were done very, very well.
We loved the clams with chitarra pasta, the flatbreads, and really liked the scallops with parsnips, etc. These are gone, for now anyway. We are glad they brought back the burger and other items when sometimes you just want to have a simple dinner.
We are hoping they will bring back the flatbreads and kale salad. We are happy all the other items are on the menu, just miss some of the basics. And please keep making the best bread and rolls in town!
An upscale experience of down home food. Really liked the fact of locally sourced products to include the spirits. G2B turned foods from my childhood, like head cheese, into delicacies. A very cool experience all around.
I reserved seating for 4 over a day in advance to see the Mint Julep Jazz Band. When I arrived, the only table the maitre d would offer was one off to the side in the back almost out of view and quite a distance from the band I came to see. I specifically asked for seating near and in full view of the band and received a follow up confirmation...only to be told that my reservation needed to be made with more advance notice when I arrived. The food quality was decent though the pirces were a bit high for what was received. The waitress was very friendly and helpful but the manager was not - as she was supposed to help provide us a better table and chose to ignore us all night. The band was and is the only reason I would return as they are a very talented group and their music is very enjoyable.
Great evening at G2B.. they had a jazz band that night.. nice vibe.. The place was pretty packed from the beginning.. My wife wasn't totally happy with table we got in front of all of the TV screens, so given they were packed out, was a little tough to move, but we eventually end dup at the bar.. which turned out well.. Food was very good, beer selection very god as well, between good selection on draught as well as bottles.. can't say that their cocktail specials hit home w/ us, but then again, they are more of a beer venue/brewery.. ! We would definately go back.. even though a bit of a drive from Raleigh..
We ended up here for our dinner during a long trip and it was delicious food. We got the ribeye for two. The beet that came with it in a cheesy shell of some sort brought it over the top. The soup with truffle oil and brussel sprouts was amazing. Wished there was room for dessert because they sounded awesome, too.
I made dinner reservations for my wife and I here for Valentines day, I was more than satisfied.
I made a special request to have a table near the wall where it would be more quiet and I also requested to have a dozen roses in a glass vase on the table when we arrived.
Everything turned out perfect and we had a lovely dinner date. The steak was the best we have had in the area so far and everything was priced very well. The beer selection is CRAZY they have a ton of local beers to choose from. We WILL be back.
I discovered G2B on Open Table and was looking to try someplace new. We went on Valentine's weekend and had a great evening. The chicken live mousse and pork belly starters were delectable, and not too much to ruin the main course.
I had tilefish and my husband enjoyed homemade tagliatelle. The meal was well-paced and the ambiance allowed us to have a great conversation while enjoying the energy of the place. I also love the modern decor.
The only negatives were that when we requested to moved to a seat away from the door, because it was very cold that night, it was kind of a big deal even though the rest of the tables were open (and never did fill). And the wine we were looking forward to enjoying because we knew the winery was unavailable, even though it was on the menu.
It's now one of my favorite local spots and I look forward to returning again soon.
Another awesome dinner at G2B. Go here at least 1 - 2 times a month. Brought 3 people and had a great dinner. They had a jazz band this particular night and we enjoyed the music, food and the wine.
They have some great values on the wine list. Katie, the GM, and the staff always take good care of us.
What I really like about G2B is its consistency. It's nice to know that the food will be good every time we go
We have never been disappointed in this restaurant. Every meal either lunch or dinner has been prepared and served with distinction.
We have been going to G2B throughout its many changes. Most recently we had the best meal yet and am compelled to write about it. The scallops with pureed parsnips and boo choy was perfectly cooked and the dishes blended beautifully. The flounder with an asian preparation was equally lovely. The only downside was that they were slammed with patrons and they had recently reduced their wait staff so they were scurrying around trying to help everyone. The servers were very polite, and even the hostess and others chipped in to help. But the lack of sufficient wait staff showed. Maybe add one more back if you are going to cook so well and be so busy as a result!

The location of this restaurant is very hidden from street view. It's contemporary and very clean inside. The menu is a mixture of eclectic foodie items and fancy'd-up comfort foods. We shared an app, salad and 4 entrees. Everything was delicious however the burger was ordered medium and was definitely rare. The person eating the burger said it was fine and ate it all,so it must have been good! Spaghetti, pork, and cassoulet were all cooked perfectly!
Our waitress was fabulous. Prix fixe menu was great. Loved the wine pairings. Dessert better this time than last. A bit noisy. Would've loved it if they'd had live music for the holiday. Really good experience. We'll return.
We've been eating at G2B since it opened a few years back, probably 2 or 3 times a year. It's changed little since then, and the food is more hit or miss on our last 2 visits. Some items remain excellent, like the soups, but some, like my wife's steak on our last visit, are actually a bit below average for this price range. They also took out the seats and video game area that used to be there, I guess to make more room for tables, but it was a nice feature since we often bring .
On the plus side, Tea Cup Gin played while we ate, and having live music was awesome.
A little hard to find off the road but nice decor. Food was excellent. We started with some cheeses that were delicious and my wife an I both had the burger which was one of the best I have had in a long time almost melts in your mouth. Beer selection was quite good and we enjoyed some of there house brews. We were seated right away and had a server over quickly to serve us but once our food came it was a long while till server ever came back to ask about more drinks. After we finished we sat for a good bit until we flagged someone down to bring our check, then 5 minutes later our server came over with a dessert menu. Finally got the check but you could see the service slowly decline in attentiveness as the meal went on. Overall a nice experience and due to the excellent food and solid wine and beer selections I would go back.
I have been to G2B several times. Took 3 friends tonight. Everyone was pleased with their dinners. I had the fried chicken, on a whim. It was a little undercooked and I'd have to say was just "okay".
Went on a Friday night. Reservation was for 6, we got there early and were seated promptly. Nice greeter and server and the service was accurate and prompt. Very few patrons, some at the bar and ours and one other table occupied. We wondered whether it should be so quiet on a Friday, maybe we were there too early for a crowd. Enjoyed the flounder and we were out by 6:45.
We had a great time listening to the live jazz and enjoying fabulous food. However the atmosphere was difficult - a very unpleasant cold draft coming through the restaurant and making our seating uncomfortable. I did speak to management but they said it was not fixable - was caused by the sudden drop in temperature outside. Except for this we had a pleasant evening and I would recommend this restaurant for a fun evening out.
So I made a reservation for lunch at G2B but apparently this was not necessary. We were the only ones there at 1pm. They food was good and the flight of their 6 beers was excellent but I'm afraid they may not be around for long or open for lunch for long if their business doesn't pick up.
We have been to G2B many times, but it had been a while. Menus has changed and the food was still good, not spectacular but good. Unfortunately however, the service was horrendous- and I do not use that descriptor often. Essentially our waiter took our order and disappeared for the remainder of the evening. (Someone else delivered our food to our table.) We caught his attention once to beg for refills on our drinks (about 45 minutes after we received our first round) and he actually did not return with drinks, so we then had to again ask another waiter for refills. Another 30 minutes passed without any attention from our waiter. Finally, fed up we just asked for the bill at which time our waiter then asked if we were sure we weren't interested in ordering dessert. Wow, just wow.
Food fantastic. Ambiance fun and trendy. Service was great, but we were there very early-- when it started picking up, our server was busy getting orders for another 6-top and 2-top that we felt a little neglected. We sat with empty plates in front of us for about 15 minutes. We really just wanted the check at that point as we were headed to DPAC. That's my only complaint-- the great service needs to continue from beginning to end.
I thought my visit last spring was perfect. But, G2B has now passed perfection as if it was standing still. It's akin to watching a grand ballet. Chef Robinson has again created a masterful menu. He and his staff dance through their culinary production with obvious skill, Katie conducts the floor with the grace of a prima ballerina, and G2B has also discovered a rising mixologist in Nicole. Our latest wait star, Gene, continues this establishments awesome tradition of total service. Well worth the 4 hours it takes us to get to their door. Try G2B! It will be obvious to you that they deserve a standing ovation with multiple curtain calls.
It is such a refreshing change to give a location a top rating in all areas. We travel a lot and have found that the service aspect of dining and lodging has declined dramatically; exponentially over the past five years regardless of the high prices paid. It is actually much easier to deal with poor food and great service – which is rarely the case.
G2B pub had excellent service and excellent food and we will definitely return .
Excellent beer selection. We were very pleased with their beer. Oyster selection was delicious. Scallop entree was perfectly prepared. Pasta was mediocre. Dessert was tasty but very small. Seemed very pricey.
I wasn't expecting too much. I had been here before, but not with my husband. Once when it was G2B a long time ago, and a few times when it was Seasons 52, and another place and I don't remember being that impressed. We knew they had some TV's and we were hoping the Carolina game was on (it wasn't). Instead they had on Betty Boop and To Kill a Mockingbird in black and white and some other old cartoons in black and white. They did have one football game on one little tv but it was way too far away from where we were sitting. Oh well, not the reason we were there. We got some drinks (lots to choose from) and some Oysters (they were $1.00 each that night and very tasty). Our waiter Tom brought us some warm Rosemary bread with butter. We always ask for suggestions and Tom gave us some good ones. My husband got the Fried Chicken with Honey, watermelon and Chile Coconut Corn and I got the San Marzano Pizza (both were good), although I thought his chicken was a little salty and next time I'm getting the house burger Tom recommended.
All in all, a great experience and a wonderful date night with my husband. Also, good for groups and I saw people with babies there too. We'll be back. (=
the goat cheese pizza was very good. my friend had the hamburger too and it was good.
the service was not good at all. we asked questions and the waiter wouldn't simply answer and ignore us. it was not pleasant at all and the only time he was good was when he delivered our cards to see if he could get a better tip.
We have been going to G2B since it first opened its doors. We would go frequently, more than once a month and were always pleased. Then they changed chefs and menu quite drastically, leaving no food for the weekly visit to a neighborhood restaurant. Instead, the offerings were very creative, mostly organ meat which is not healthy for those of us who care about healthy eating. So we gave up and stopped going.
We recently took a look at the menu again online, having missed it. To our pleasant surprise, they brought back some of the more common fare (great burgers, pizza, pasta) that one might want weekly, keeping some of their more sophisticated (and more expensive) offerings.
We are happy to report that G2B is back! The food was excellent. The homemade pasta with clams was the best we have eaten anywhere regionally. The pizza was competitive with the best also. My daughter enjoyed her burger and the wine and beer were great, the latter coming from their microbrewery.
Go back. We will. We need them to stay in the neighborhood.
G2B now my favorite place to dine. My friend and I shared an entree -flat iron steak melted in my mouth and the buttermilk friend chicken - OMG!!! To top it off, service was outstanding. I can't wait for an encore.
Our server was great. The food was delicious. The beer selection was impressive.
My husband and I went for an early dinner on a Sunday evening. Found food to be excellent (especially the scallops and fish and chips). and service efficient, friendly and helpful. Good selection of beers and neutral environment. We look forward to returning and trying other dishes.
Food is important to us and G2B does not disappoint. In fact, we are really surprised that such a delicious dining option can be found in this attractive but unpretentious setting. The food is creative without being too ambitious, with wonderful flavors. We enjoyed the large, succulent scallop dish, which we both ordered. Also, there are few restaurants where we feel the dessert is anything really special, but G2B is one of them. The flavors are natural, fresh and exotic and the presentation is a work of art. We travel frequently to France, and we could easily imagine these desserts at a Micheline starred restaurant. We have been to this restaurant numerous times, and the quality is consistently excellent.
Food has been excellent every time we've dined here. Great presentation of local food choices. Scallops were great as were then Heads-on NC shrimp.
We've been to G2B three times and have never been disappointed in the food or the choices on the menu. There are always more temptimg choices than we can handle, and the little textras like the homemade pretzel rools are delicious too. The service is more variable--some of the wait staff goes beyond "attentive," all the way to "intrusive"--but gnerally okay. The ambiance is lively and urban rather than cozy or romantic, but that makes it a good place for informal gatherings or families with possibly noisy children. Keep this option in mind!
The food is fabulous and the service was great. I had the chicken with chili corn and it was perfect.
Arrived 1/2 hour before our reservation time very hungry, and they would not give us a table, eventhough it was empty, so we had to sit at the bar...I guess their way of pushing expensive drinks. When given our table (which was empty the whole time we waited), service was ok...had to wait when our drinks were empty. Food was ok. Will not return.

We dined in the jazz lounge. It was noticeably less impressive as far as ambiance than the rest of the restaurant. The jazz band was awesome and would only have been a better experience if the interior design of the lounge felt as swanky as the front room.
The food was amazing! The risotto was hands-down the best I've ever tasted. I do wish their menu was a bit more descriptive (the beer list was a bit confusing as to what size each offering was and, although everything was delicious, I don't feel that the menu description was an accurate depiction of what you are getting). Service was fantastic! Our server was friendly, genuine, and attentive. I will definitely go back for seconds.
