First time at this NEW place in Chapel Hill. 5 stars all the way. Great everything. Probably best fish in Chapel Hill. Chef Yung is very cool. Very creative. Our out of town foodie guest also very impressed! Ee'll be back soon with more guests.
Nice looking restaurant. Warm welcome at the door by the host. Service staff seemed a bit off. Food was good. Desserts were beautifully presented and delicious.
Very good sushi. Clay pot dish could have used more flavor. A bit pricey, but worth it.
Fusion Fish is amazing! The food is delicious and beautifully presented. And the restaurant (located in the old "One" space at Meadowmont) is beautiful. The owner went out of his way to make our experience special and even let some of our party tour the kitchen and watch him create gorgeous desserts! All in all, an exceptional dining experience.
My family and I went for Mother's Day dinner. It was our first visit. Everything was great. We got the pork belly, tuna tartar and a sushi roll for appetizers. Perfect! Everything was seasoned well. Our dinner plates arrived shortly after and were delicious. Great atmosphere. We will be back!
Fantastic Mother’s Day!! Food was great, atmosphere great as well!
This was our second visit here and it was just as great the second time around. Superb caring waitstaff understanding to the needs of the little one with us. Delicious food. Yung came by and introduced himself. Wonderful experience!
The incorrect wine was delivered to my husband, after our waitress took the order then came back and asked again what he wanted. Yet still didn’t deliver the proper type.
Our waitress was hardly available so at each disappointment, we couldn’t share the problems.
We ordered 3 sushi rolls. 1 was not what we ordered and one was warm😩! Horrible overall. The 3rd was average...
Will not be returning.
This was our first time at FF and we hoped to find a new favorite Asian restaurant. The decor was simple but pleasant. The service started off a little slow, but we did not mind as we were not in a hurry. The food, though, was fairly bland in flavor. We ordered the potstickers which were cooked perfectly, but the pork inside lacked flavor. I ordered the hot pot and found the broth to be bland. My husband had the tuna and he said it was fine, but also bland. I would recommend that the chef add some ginger to these dishes.
This was our third visit in as many weeks. Never disappoints. Can’t wait to go again.
Excellent food and great service! Seafood was fantastic and great ambiance.
This was our fifth meal at Fish Fusion. Looking forward to many more.
I'm pleased to see a new occupant at a former favorite spot (One) with the same fresh outlook on different cuisine. Sushi was fresh, food was creative and servers were knowledgable; offered local options for drinks. It's the same decor, with a large space. We were there at lunchtime so it was still easy to get a seat.
Sushi excellent..entree menu reads great, tastes good.
Love Fusion Fish - food is excellent, service is excellent - everyone from the Chef to the bartender to the wait staff are friendly and attentive!!! The bartender, Jacob, makes super good drinks! Make a reservation soon! You will be happy!!!
Excellent addition to the Chapel Hill area. Our dinners (sashimi special, tuna dinner, seafood soup) were all excellent. The carrot cake dessert was too light on cake, too heavy on icing., and therefore too sweet. The service and the attention from the owner made us feel very special. We'll be back.
Great new Restaurant!
The food was great - sauces complimented the dishes well and were creative. Service was excellent.
The service from Foster was outstanding, attentive without being obvious and funny. All four of us enjoyed the different mains, especially the Tuna. My appetizer of Calamari was very good but took a long time to arrive, only complaint of the evening.
Filet mignonette was way too thin and tough. Baked potato not cooked enough. waitress couldn’t tell me what the vegetable dish was. Won’t be back.
I met two good friends for dinner the other night and we all enjoyed our food, excellent service along with a festive atmosphere! They also offer a number of good wines by the glass. Located in Meadowmont Village, Chapel Hill, you’ll find Fusion Fish where One Restaurant once was. The decor has remained pretty much the same, which I always thought was attractive. There is a nice sized bar with tables as a dining option. Parking is good. No problem there. Overall a great experience!!!
Great food and service. The owner was also around talking to all of the tables and you could see how excited he was to there. We’ll definitely be back.
This is the third time there. Everything is always wonderful I recommend them highly
We had a reservation at 7:30 but were not seated until 8:15. We were given a free appetizer for our inconvenience but not until we asked for something in return for our wait. Even after we were seated, the service was very poor. The food was okay, not bad but nothing special. Definitely have had better sushi elsewhere in Chapel Hill. We will definitely not be back, which is unfortunate because I had such high hopes for this new restaurant.
Only negative was that things weren’t operating as smoothly as should have been. Seemed as if they were still getting the kinks out.
Well, I had pretty high expectations for going to Fusion Fish, based on reviews I've previously read. For one thing, I am glad there's a restaurant in the space that "One" once occupied, which was a favorite. While I think Fusion Fish was okay, as far as the dinner menu goes, it was pretty average and a bit disappointing. I ordered the duck breast entree. The fat of the breast was not properly rendered, and the skin was not crispy, as it should have been. The sauce was good, but the mango salsa was just okay, and the green beans were just plain green beans. While the cocktails sounded interesting, the ones my wife and I ordered seemed overly sweet and not all that great. My wife's scallop entry was likewise okay, but not memorable. The service was competent. On the bright side, we did have sushi for appitizers, which was quite good. In summary, we will return when we're in the mood for good sushi, however, there are other Asian Fusion type restaurants nearby which we believe are better for dinner and cocktails.
Eh...food was okay. Reading the reviews, I thought it would be above average. Decor nice, food so so.
Generally our food was very good but my vegetables were ice cold. I should have sent them back. The owner did come and get us to apologize for a light bulb that was going on and off repeatedly and he generously made us a beautiful and free dessert. My kids did enjoy the sushi. We will try it again.
We had s delicious dinner. We liked the appetizers, the tuna tartare, the edamame and the dumplings. We had salmon, the Kobe burger, some sushi, the peppered tuna and the vegetable bowl. All of them were delicious. Our waiter was friendly and efficient.
Excellent takeover of ONE restaurant. Clay pot was delish and salmon good. I would have preferred salmon a bit less cooked. Nina our waitress was excellent.
Nice variety of options on the menu that had something for everyone
Still in soft open, but developing a following by offering a dining experience that is worthy of return visits. Not everything is perfect, but they are rapidly working out the missteps that go with starting an operation in a new place with new people and supply chain. Wife's omikase was fantastic and it's clear that the kitchen has access to very fresh seafood. I opted for a ramen special--it was well built around a chicken stock broth, but lacked anything green (later we learned that this was an oversight), so the red color (chili oil, pork belly) was jarring. Desserts were also creative and satisfying. I expect this place to be a worthy followup to One, which formerly occupied this plot.
We sat at the bar which we found to be have more ambiance than the dining room. The dining room is quite large and open and we find it has little atmosphere.
attention to the details needs to be improved. I will definitely go back, but hope things will get better as they work things out for service, and food consistentcy
A definite "keeper" of a "go to" place. Loved the service and the food - also the very best martini I have ever had!!! We will go soon and often!!
Very good food and service. Portion size is a bit small but on par with other high end restaurants.
We previously new the location from another hot spot and we had hoped the new restaurant would meet our needs. We couldn't be more pleased. The menu had a lot of variety; the food was excellent; and the location is just around the corner for us. We plan to frequent often.
Great service, great food, extremely clean, pleasing environment, best-fresh sushi in the triangle... can't say enough positives about this new eating gem in Chapel Hill. Yes, it is worth the drive from Raleigh.
The sushi and drinks were fantastic! Very fresh and unique!
