Great food staff great but they need more people. The pastas and pizzas are phenomenal and the branzino with a side of spinach was amazing !!
Excellen meal and service every time. Try the fried artichokes and eggplant parmigiana. Delicious and owner is wonderful.
First time visit and I'll definitely go back. Great depth of flavor in the rigatoni with sausage. Waiter was pleasant and helpful. Were there on half price wine night, but the first two bottles we ordered were out of stock. Had a very good Rioja, though, so not disappointed. I'm interested to go back and try the pizza. Definitely on the list now for solid dining on the Upper West Side.
Great addition to the neighborhood. Nice atmosphere. Fun place to dine. Excellent food and good value.
The food at FUMO Is straightforward--but expertly done. I had marinated chicken with sautéed vegetables, nothing complicated, but it was done perfectly. Well-seasoned, plentiful, exactly what I wanted. The pizzas are great too, and they actually have a gluten-free and dairy-free pizza that is first-class. The place can get boisterous in the front room; I've taken to eating in the back area which is quieter. It has become a go-to place, especially for lunch. Nice ambiance; great service; excellent, healthy food.
noise level was intolerable for anyone not a millenial. And this was on a weeknight at 9pm. NOthing to absorb sound anywhere - no tableclothes, only hard surfaces, the Maitre D' was talking to me from 12" away and I couldn't hear him. We'll try once more, because the food was excellent, but WHY are all restaurants like this now?
This was my second time at Fumo in a week and the people I was with and I all loved it both times. The atmosphere is lovely and the pasta excellent. There was also a great happy hour deal at the table and we had a very nice wine for a low price. Excellent, friendly service. We will be going back!
The food is excellent and a great value. The service is friendly and attentive. The only drawback is the noise level. My guess is that that it’s a simple issue of acoustics in the main dining area. The ceiling just seems to reflect noise even though people weren’t being particularly noisy. This didn’t however ruin a great meal at a great restaurant. Just a caveat.
We had a 6:15 res and it was quite busy. The only complaint we had was the noise level — quite high, but everything else was good. Happy to have them in the ‘hood
Had a wonderful experience with Regina for my boyfriend’s birthday. The food was excellent, everyone left happy and buzzed because of the bottomless mimosas. Our table was ready as soon as we got there. The ambiance was great... several times we found ourselves saying that we wished our apartment had the same aesthetic.
Consistent neighborhood Gem We love coming here! Food is fresh and feels homemade
This is my 5th time going with my girlfriend, the food is great and so is the service.
We did not have pasta or pizza and were trying to eat a healthy meal. With this in mind it is a hard menu to order from and I should have read the menu better. What we did order was fair to good.
The Romaine salad was cut up romaine with dressing and cheese, too plain in composition and flavors. The shrimp, we ordered as an optional extra for the salad was perfectly cooked and seemed to have a light coating of sauce which was not mentioned and had a bbq type flavor that did not match my expectations for the salad.
The pork chop special was delicious as were the veggies it was served with - a good neighborhood fallback for when you don’t feel like cooking.
Our server was attentive and had warmth and playful flair.
I am visiting after relocating to Ireland. A friend recommended Fumo. Both food and service were outstanding!! Nothing was rushed, yet our server was brilliantly attentive.
My only complaint would be the noise level. Not the place for an intimate conversation. However, the quality of the dining makes up for it. My advice, talk before and after Fumo. While there, enjoy the food!!!!
Great place for a date or to bring the family. The food is great and the owner is a gracious host.
Good food and service. Much too noisy and crowded!
I want to rate the food higher because it was excellent for most of the table. I ordered my entree specifically with “Super Light Cream” instruction s and it was swimming in cream and way too much butter. I got home with a very upset stomach. By then it had been an hour since we’d ordered so I was tired and as I was dining with my elderly father I couldn’t wait for the food to be redone. It ruined my evening.
Great addition to the neighborhood, food was great and they make awesome cocktails.
We always enjoyed the food here-service slower and restaurant noisier than usual (probably due to crowd fir Mother’s Day)
Service was great especially considering the Mother's Day rush. Food was really excellent and I like the creative take on traditional Italian food. Servers were really nice and handled our party of 7. My family like it and we will probably return.
Favorite place in UWS
The service was properly brilliant. They treated my family with respect and with an attentiveness I wasn’t expecting. (Attended with a special needs family member in a wheelchair.) The food was fresh, timely, and delicious.
The staff promptly took ownership of any oversight and ensured our needs were met and expectations overpassed. We were escorted to our table by the manager, and like his staff, his body language and friendly demeanour made what could have been a stressful begging the start of a wonderful night.
If a business ever deserved your pratonage, this is the one. Thanks Fumo UWS— our Mother’s Day dinner was very lovely.
Great food and friendly environment is what I love this restaurant.
Noise Level: Energetic...and annoyingly loud.
Service is fine, just that. Pet peeve, don't clear the plates until everyone at the table is finished. Service 101.
Food was okay but seems to have slipped already in the short life of this restaurant. The Osso Buco was a blob of stuff and salty. Rigatoni Bolognese was way too salty. Chicken Parmigiana...salty.
The interior is very nice and I'm glad the restaurant is there but don't take your patrons for granted. Be a real restaurant or don't, your choice.
I was hoping for a much better experience after hearing raves from co-workers. While the restaurant wasn't full it was very hard to hear the others at my table. The food was meh...and some dishes were way too salty. Overall it was not worth the price.
Everyone was extremely pleasant and helpful in serving large portions of great food.
Yes but with much reservation : the noise level is extreme. There was an event going on in the back room that had spilled out into the main restaurant and it was impossible to hear anything said across the table. We brought our friends back home for cookies and coffee so the 4 of us could talk instead of staying there for dessert. As an architect I noted that there are too many hard surfaces in the space and no sound absorbing materials.
Probably won't go back for an evening dinner
Excellent in every way as always. Great food and terrific service. Lovely people running the show. Highly recommend.
Love this place!
This is a new restaurant in our neighbourhood.
Love it. They have the exact atmosphere and service attitude that makes you feel part of the city. Too many of the restaurants near us are dated or have an inexperienced service offering.
This restaurant is amazing. The menu is simple and not overloaded with heavy boring dishes, everything is fresh and flavors are always consistent. I have been here multiple times and enjoy everything on the menu. The chicken and waffles on the brunch menu are AMAZING! The steak is perfectly marinated and grilled just right. Deserts are authentic we love the tiramisu and panna cotta. I love this place.
With a friend
Food and service were great!! We loved it and had a great dining experience!!
Yes this is very good and clean place, since it open about 30 of my friends and family have been. 2 of my sister and husband were there last night and I’ll be back tonight
Having been at the original FUMO, which i really liked, i was really disappointed in the new FUMO. I ordered chicken, which came out raw inside and drowning in sauce, even though i asked for it plain. my friend ordered the GRILLED chicken parm and instead got the fried chicken parm. Pasta was average at best. also, the restaurant lacked the charm of the original and it was so super loud that we could barely hear each other speak. will not return.
I love Fumo uptown and this location is as consistent!
All was great, nice addition to the upper west side!
Install ceiling sound buffers, particularly in back room
very noisy; music is totally unnecessary. So much glass makes this restaurant noisy so why have the music on top of it ?
LOVE THIS PLACE!
