There’s a saying in Japan, ‘Ichi-go ichi-e,’ which means, every moment is one-of-a-kind and something to be treasured. This is the philosophy of our neighbourhood restaurant FUMI, located in the centre of Brighton.
A slow restaurant in a fast-moving city, FUMI is a place where flavours, service and interiors are harmonious.
A simple Japanese inspired menu driven by the seasons, our moods and by whatever is fresh and exciting in the moment.

At FUMI, we source all our produce, meats and fish from small, local suppliers. Nothing is mass-produced or served out of season, with everything we create coming directly from the farm to your table. Each meal at FUMI is a celebration of bountiful harvests, beloved community, and our favourite pairing of food and friends.

    I'm amazed that this venue is still undiscovered. It's truly in my best top five meals Ever! Outstanding food, service, ambience and hospitality. The time spent on the decor is amazing and the attention to detail is incredible. Cannot recommend this enough. Wow

    Wonderful food in a spacious restaurant. Staff were very helpful and attentive. Recommend the duck, aubergine in miso, gyozas and all the sushi.

    Was a really really nice place for date night, was fancy but not too fancy that you felt out of place, the service was brilliant, the food came out at a decent time not too quick not too long and was some of the tastiest food I have had in a long time, definitely recommend trying 1 of evertthing small and have a main to yourself. Don’t forget to have the cocktails too they’re brilliant.

    The restaurant is beautiful, food is great but there were no atmosphere, half empty, no ambient music, a bit soulless.
