   Was really looking forward to our meal and had heard good things about the restaurant. First impressions were great a stunning building very tastefully decorated. Room wasn’t full but we were greeted with “we are very busy tonight so we don’t have any Wagu or black rice” odd given that it was early and not busy. No explanation of menu, waitress don’t know anything about the food and had to be asked to go and find out Food was nice but not exceptional overall a very disappointing experience.

   food was outstanding, so clean, fresh and precise even with dietary requirement for Ceoliac. Staff were very attentive with this requirement. The right level of support from the staff to enjoy our evening to chit chat. My other 3 guest are all going to come back again they were so impressed with the place. This is my 3rd time and never been disspointed. Thankyou

   I first went to FUMI a few years ago when it first opened. At that time, it was a great service and great food- I recall comparing it to some of my top London sushi restaurants. However, I was utterly disappointed to the point of being embarrassed to take my partner there for his birthday. The service was terrible. Food took 1.5 hours to arrive and was of poor quality. Some parts of the descriptions were missing, sushi arrived without any sides such as soy. Raman came out with no consideration of a spoon for two children. Taste was bland. Sadly, I will not be returning. Such a shame.

   Every mouthful was absolutely delicious. As veggies we found it easy to choose a varied and exciting dinner. The sushi was crisp, fresh and very tasty, the aubergine was the best I’ve had (genius to have it cut up: melt-in-the-mouth tender and much easier to approach with chopsticks!). We also had the cauliflower ‘steak’ and veggie donburi, both of which were rich with complex flavours, nuanced and delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. It was very quiet when we were there.

   Service was brilliant as was the food and overall aesthetic. The space was large but quiet, it is definitely a find that needs to be discovered more. Being in a newly developed part of the city it may slip under the radar, but I would really recommend.

   In short the experience at Fumi was flawless. I would highly recommend to anyone who is staying in Brighton or passing through. The staff were exceptional and very experienced, our waitress was able to offer suggestion for both food and drink which is always a key thing for me. ( We were lucky enough to try an off menu wine and cocktail which felt special as this didn’t need to be offered ) We chose from the ala carte menu and the food was incredible: we had a nice split of both hot and cold dish along with some sushi. I wouldn’t be able to say my favourite as it was all stand out! Me and my partner will definitely be returning next time we are in the area✨

    Amazing place, incredible food and service We went for lunch mid-week and it was very quiet - perhaps it is more of an evening place. Highly recommend and will definitely return :)
