We visited during restaurant week, which may have been a factor. Our first two courses came out very quickly and were delicious — great! We also very much enjoyed the cocktails we ordered. The problem was with our main course. Between our second course and main we sat for 40 minutes. Seems especially odd given that it was restaurant week and there's a fairly rigid menu. Finally, our server reappeared looking confused and asked us if we were missing a course (she was somehow missing during this period despite it being early in the evening and fairly empty). We had to rush through our entree and dessert as we were already about 30 min late for my husband's surprise 35th birthday party. Was a very stressful, disappointing factor in an otherwise fun night.
I had birthday dinner with 10 people there. It was nice that the restaurant managed to add two seats for us with short notice. Our waitress looked angry though through the night. Service was slow. Our reservation was at 8:15 and we didn't get our entries until around 9:45. We missed our reservation at 10:30 for next stop that night.
The "Feed Me Chef..." option has to be the best value in Chicago. For $65 per person, the amount of food and quality of food you receive is outstanding. The artist series and focus on an artistic environment is great as well.
Really enjoyed our server. He was knowledgable and made good recommendations. The ambiance is really cool but our table was odd for the two of us. Backs against the bar are facing out into an aisle. The food was pretty good. We enjoyed the experience overall.
Great service fabulous menu.
We live in the middle of Indiana and come to Chicago for birthdays and family events as well as to visit the Art Institute. We always make reservations to Fulton Market Kitchen for dinner before we head back home. The food is consistently well seasoned, cooked perfectly, and plated beautifully. The service is also excellent. This time when we visited my husband had developed a food allergy to dairy. So he requested a special dish be prepared to meet his needs. The chief was very happy to do so. He prepared my husband a deliciously moist and perfectly seasoned chicken dish with roasted red potatoes. We also ordered a very tasty rum Autumn Cobbler cocktail. My daughter was not drinking alcohol so the bar chief made her a citrusy tasty non alcoholic beverage. For dinner we ordered sourdough ciabatta, cornmeal fried oysters, roasted halibut, pan seared walleye, and my husband’s chicken dish. Everything was delicious!!! It was my birthday. Our waiter brought me my favorite dessert they make .....the smoky campfire s’more. When you open the top of the mason jar a wonderful whiff of smoke comes out and teases your nose before you bite into the melted chocolate, graham cracker crust and melted marshmallow. Hats off to the wait staff, to the bar and to the chief. The decor is chic and stimulating to the eyes. We had a wonderful evening. Thank you Fulton Market Kitchen.
The BEST restaurant in Chicago to partake in the “Chef’s Choice” meal. For $65, you get a 4 course meal with 4-6 entrees in each course. You will leave so satisfied and stuffed to the brim!
A really cool atmosphere with a delicious and inventive menu.
Had the prawns and lobster ravioli to start. Prawns were delicious. The past was hard on the edges. Lobster was good and the center of ravioli was good. Ordered halibut and filet Mignon. The halibut was overcooked, was very dry and disappointing. We had to send the filet back because we ordered medium rare came out well done. They got it right the second time and it was delicious. Brussel sprouts were the side and were good.
cocktails were good. Service was good.
Food menu is limited. Also, our chicken fricassee was swimming in butter and oil. While the chicken was okay the base of the dish was nearly inedible.
Service was horrible. Waited 30 min past my reservation time and didn’t have food until over an hour later. Food was good and waitress was nice but didn’t make up for how long we waited.
Very poor service, some food was served cold as well
Showed up early for our 8p reservation for two. Seated at 8:10p. Ordered by 8:35p. Drinks arrived, and one appetizer. Our entrees never came out as of 950p. We had to leave without eating our meal bc we had 10p movie tickets. Our server Adra (sp?) was excellent. She gave us a complimentary appetizer and drink for the long wait, but it was disappointing selecting this restaurant out of all the options in chicago to take my out of town guest, and we never got to eat an actual meal. There were multiple tables around us with more people that ordered after us, and we watched them get all of their appetizers and entrees while we sat hungry. Restaurant comped our drink and appetizer as we had to leave before getting our meal, but had no valid explanation for why we never received our food after 1.5 hrs. Will def not be coming back. Shame since I was looking for a nice restaurant to host my companies leadership team dinner, but it’s now officially off my list of options :(
Food was okay but staff was unmotivated and one was even unfriendly.
The food was good however they were out of a few items on menu and bar-like chicken and wine. Found that odd and the menu is small so that limited you to one of 3 fish dishes, a steak or pork
This place is fantastic the food was good the service was excellent the food has soul
It's rare to find a restaurant that is both creative in presentation and solid in taste - the perfect combo of adventurous and on-the-ball flavor. If you're in Chicago, this is the place you can't miss!
And my servers recommendations for drink pairings were spot on, adding another layer to the quality.
Yes, our server was incredible. I forget his name but he was very helpful with wine and dish selection. We will definitely be coming back again.
Wonderful experience. The food was excellent and the service was exceptional. We ordered steaks. They took a while to come out. We were not upset about it but they were. They brought out homemade bread and butter and said they were sorry it was taking so long. When the steaks arrived they brought us potatoes, but we had ordered the Brussel sprouts. Again they apologized and 5 minutes later they appeared. They didn’t charge us for either. This is a restaurant that cares about its customers and reputation. Great food, great service and a very attractive space. What more could you want.
El pollo estaba muy rico pero tenía partes rojas ( con sangre ) en las uniones. No deberían servir el ala.
El ambiente es agradable. Tiene una mezcla de bar, restaurante y galería de arte.
Beautiful ambiance, the food tasted good but was cold. I liked the drinks we ordered. I was disappointed they were out of a few things we tried to order, and felt the service was lacking.
Food was very good, best halibut I think I’ve ever had. Not very busy for a Friday and very nice overall
The Fulton Market Kitchen has excellent food in a hip, semi-funky space. However, unless you wish to spend the whole evening texting on your iPhone, check to find out if a D.J. is spinning that night. If so, expect to either be unable to converse at the table or be be prepared to shout at your table mates and bring some aspirin.
The Kitchen was backed up so it took a while to get our meals, but overall the food was really good! The pasta portions varied quite a bit but they were delicious.
We had a 6:15 pm reservation and arrived at 6:07 to a 1/4 filled dining room. We were told we were early and to go to the bar for a drink until our reservation time. That would be 8 minutes. I told the hostess I did not want a drink and turned and started to walk to the door. She immediately approached me to say she could now seat me. We sat, ordered a drink and our dinner, which was mediocre at best. The music was so loud, we were literally shouting at each other to be heard. The one good thing was dessert, S’mores, very delicious and clever! Would never recommend.
They were out of several items on the menu and we weren’t told that before we ordered a bottle of wine. We wouldn’t have stayed there. But because we ordered the bottle we felt obligated to stay to drink it and ordered food. It was very expensive for the portion and mediocre
We just didn’t expect EVERY bite of food to be so yummy and thoughtful. We’ll be back.
Wonderful. Our waitress was perfect, food was delicious. Amazing dining experience.
Very good food, portions could be bigger but it was the perfect date night ambiance and menu.
It was not good.
I love FMK! My favorite restaurant.
It was a Monday so it wasn’t very full so, I think that took away from the experience. The decor is very cool and I bet the atmosphere feels a lot more alive later in the week. We both had fish and I would say both were very overdone, kind of charred but flavorless. The service was good but, I’ve had so many good meals in Chicago I don’t know if I’d return when the food was really not impressive. I realize that I may have just hit the kitchen on an off night but again, so many other options.
We arrived for our reservation on a Friday night. The dining area had a great vibe. Our server arrived and took our drink order, returned with our drinks and asked if we would like to order. We'd just gotten settled in and really hadn't studied the menu. We asked the server to give us a few minutes. 2 minutes later the server was back and inviting us to place our entire dinner order with the traditional caveat "we will take our time bringing courses out to you, but it helps the kitchen." We said we'd like to start with a couple of appetizers. Period. The server brought the appetizers out and then asked for our order. I said we were in no hurry and we would signal when ready to continue. The food was only "okay." The bolognese was too salty. We had heard about the carmelized cauliflower, we ordered it but sent it back because it tasted burnt, not caramelized. We also tried the beef fat french fries. They were cold and mushy. We won't be back.
I liked the vibe. Servers were wonderful. The food was so disappointing.
Stu the manager greeted us at the door, knew it was our reservation and that we were celebrating a birthday. Happily accommodated us pushing back our reservation multiple times. Upon arrival he gifted us each a glass of bubbles to celebrate and confidently made suggestions for our meal- he was right. The fried green tomatoes were our favorite pick, something I never would’ve ordered without his encouragement. We also had their take on a wedge salad that was beyond delicious. Two starters and a few drinks later we ordered a Bolognese and the roasted chicken, the chicken came in this sauce/spatzle /gravy that was moms fav. Stu gave me a tour of the space, we discussed the artists on display and the various possibilities of the venue. Truly was impressed with the space, the food and most of all Stu- funny, charming, knowledgeable, and spot on with his recommendations. I’m a jerk- never write reviews but this experience was worth the time. Go. -MM
WOW - we were impressed with everything!!!
Whole Fish , Pork Cutlet, Gem Salad & Gruyere Toast were delicious. Oh, & save room for the Apple dessert !!! Wonderful, attentive service topped it all off
This exceeded my expectations! From the excellent service , the outstanding hospitality, to the fantastic food... Nick our bartender went as far as walking a list of must eats to our table & our server Matt was so attentive & his recommendations were on point. The pork Milanese is a def must try , but everything was just perfect. My congrats to the gentlemen who put this establishment together & the Chef.
Just really excellent food in a hip venue with friendly service. This place is becoming a favorite.
Very artsy and dark, but the food and the drinks (strong) are amazing. Very creative place!
