Overpriced for mediocre food
Great place in area for nice dinner! Good food, great service and wonderful atmosphere!
We are regular customers. Everything was very good, except my pork chops which I had ordered as medium. They came as medium well to well. Still was okay. Otherwise, food, service, etc was very good.
The food was fantastic, the service was great and you couldn't ask for a better view!
Loved our breakfast! Although the menu was understandably limited, everything was fantastic. We had wonderful service and the atmosphere cannot be beaten. Tables were well spaced out and we felt very safe. This was our first time eating in a restaurant in 9 months and it was well worth the wait!
We had reservations were sat by an ice cold blowing ac unit we asked to switch tables they called for a manager that NEVER came... my husband after 10 min of waiting went to front again to please be reseated... the young girl was upset and got in my husbands face claimed she didn’t think it was that cold and he was too aggressive. My husband has NEVER been aggressive if anything he’s super patient and kind! I came over and she yelled at me said we were hot headed out loud! I was in shock as I wasn’t that close to hear what was said by her to the other person there.. we sat had dinner! Their COVID rules all applied for our change of tables but when the couple seated across the way got up a person in a red shirt cleaned top of table that was covered and not the chairs! They sat an elder couple there right after... the other table behind us left and the person w a green shirt and jacket TOTALLY disinfected the table he did seats/table top/ corners/ seat backs! And YET was reprimanded by the RED SHIRT PERSON that he couldn’t supervise him all night! WHAT? This person was sloppy! The front hostess super rude didn’t have her mask on when we arrived and was disrespectful! Place needs new management that actually cares about customer needs/care .
We went to the Frontier while at Lake Lawn during Christmas. The menu was limited on Christmas Eve which was fine but all the sides included either mashed sweet potato or squash, neither of which my husband cares for. He asked if he could have a baked potato with his prime rib instead and was initially told no substitutions were allowed. Our waitress was sympathetic but said the chef had yelled at her earlier when another customer made the same request. We then asked for the check for our drinks and were prepared to eat elsewhere when the waitress said she would speak to a manager. They agreed to substitute regular mashed potatoes so we decided to stay. The prime rib did not come with any au jus or horseradish sauce and under cooked brussel sprouts were substituted for the broccolini without warning. I can understand having a limited menu but you would think they would stick with tried and true sides that would appeal to more people. I was equally dissatisfied with my stuffed pork chop which came under cooked (red in the middle). Overall our dinner was a disappointment and severely overpriced.
We waited 45 minutes for water and almost an hour for salad. We were still eating salads when table next to us was done with meal and dessert. My wife spilled her full martini everywhere on lump in the table and waited forever for napkins to clean up and never even offered a new martini but she bought another one at full price. I worked here in college and supervised the dining room and was really looking forward to coming. This was my families first time here and based on that experience (and so so food at a 5 star price) we cancelled our Christmas brunch for tomorrow (which makes me really sad). Hopefully a better experience next time we come whenever that will be.
This was a Christmas Eve dinner which was a limited menu, meal was just ok, felt a bit banquet style. Staff and server were awesome and did everything to make our time there pleasant. The ambiance had a lot to be desired, they were working on the fireplace as we ate, probably because the area was cold and dark. We turned the cold vents off ourselves to warm up. Would try again, after covid because it was our first time and want to see their complete menu.
Prime Rib was tough. Dining Manager informed. Stated “Sorry to hear that, I’ll let the chef know”.
Thanksgiving was Wonderful-perfect celebration!
The Frontier has an exceptional atmosphere overlooking Lake Delavan. The prime rib was outstanding. Chef Billings mud pie dessert was incredible. Noelle did an excellent job on the sidecar cocktail while our waitress Brenda provided wonderful service. We have been long time patrons and will continue to be!
We’ve had much better food for the same cost at other restaurants. It’s slightly overpriced.
We had the prime rib.... Delicious! Best I’ve ever had :)
My wife and I went to Lake Lawn for our anniversary, and we thought we would have a nice dinner while we were there. We were there on Friday evening, the place wasn’t too busy but there was a nice atmosphere.
My wife ordered the maple salmon and a salad. The salad never came out, and she was brought the chili salmon instead. The salmon tasted very good, it just wasn’t what she ordered.
I ordered the petite sirloin and shrimp. The two small shrimp I received were served lukewarm. Not hot, not cold, just barely above room temperature. Not very appetizing. The sirloin was a low quality cut of meat. Very tough and fatty. It was also cooked to barely rare when I had ordered it cooked to medium. I didn’t send it back as even cooking it to the right doneness would not have saved this steak. I left about half of it behind as it was in edible.
We had originally planned to come back the next night for the all you can eat prime rib special, but after our experience, we decided to drive into Lake Geneva and go to a diner instead.
The restaurant was beautiful, and the staff was friendly, but the food was just inadequate for a $100 plus meal.
Food was amazing and service was perfect can’t wait to go back
Great waiter, good food and atmosphere. Nice views of the lake and the fall colors.
very enjoyable comfortable setting
felt safe and clean
Enjoyed dinner there 3yrs ago and it was outstanding! This visit was a disappointment. Table not set, place settings all in the middle of the table...far from fine dining. Loud and obnoxious men that had been golfing and drinking all day. I did bring to the attention of the hostess that foul language was being used very loudly, and the hostess and staff corrected the situation immediately. The food was just ok and not the gourmet dinner we last enjoyed. Oh, it was my husbands 65th birthday, which I noted for them to celebrate...nothing was mention and nothing done. Very disappointed!
I reservation request was honored. We were seated at a table overlooking the lake! The food was delicious and our server ,Brenda C , was AWESOME!!!!! We will DEFINITELY be back!!!
We had a birthday dinner here for our 9year old boy. Overall it was a good experience for us. My wife had the prime rib dinner and that was very good, even our 9year old liked it. My son had chicken tenders and those were also very good. I had the southern yard bird chicken dinner but the chicken was really dry, I don't think I even finished it.
It was the service though that we had that was the issue. Me and my wife ordered Tito's and water, we got Tito's and club soda. Our salads came out with dinner, someone else's dinner came to our table and we asked for cream and sugar with our coffee at dessert but just got cream.
We've stayed here before and have had the same issue with the service. Other than the service issue at the Frontier the resort we think is an amazing place.
We had the salmon and halibut dishes and both were delicious. The employees are always friendly and professional. We had a wonderful time.
Our dining experience at frontier restaurant at lake lawn lodge was one of the best overall dining experiences coupled with the rich history of the lodge Itself. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes an overnight stay at this beautiful resort. It really was awesome. The prices are a little bit high but it didn’t matter the food was great along with everything I stated above. We will be back for sure.
Convenient if you are staying at Lake Lawn Resort but it is over priced for just mediocre food. Our server was awful, we were provided with our meal and had to track down another server as we did not have any silverware nor drinks. Our server was inattentive and not friendly.
The salmon was delicious and the service was awesome! I mentioned it was my birthday and asked for a good table, and they seated us right by the window with a perfect view of the lake.
Nice bar area, was able to get a table overlooking the lake. Food and service were good, will definitely be returning.
Brenda, our server was very attentive. Our steaks and pork chop were cooked just the way we wanted them. Sat by the window looking at lake. A special evening because we were celebrating birthday. Frontier did not disappoint. Would return.
I was absolutely disappointed in Lake Lawn Lodge in this experience, especially because it was my Lady and myself’s first anniversary. We met there exactly one year ago and wanted to celebrate where we met the first time. We’ll start with the temperature, they could have hung meat in there and I heard others complain! Nothing was done for any one! Very disappointed as none of us had a coat.
The waitress messed up my order and then Tried to blamed me for her lack of listening. Our food after waiting was no where close to a serving temperature either. If I was the chef I’d of had a cow at the quality, he should be embarrassed as zero justice was payed to his quality as everything was overdone and cold when it arrived at our table. Even our free anniversary desert seemed like it was made days ago and was not good at all. I ended up not able to eat the next day as I was sick from what I ate there. It messed me up till late Wednesday when I finally ate something without discomfort.
Overall I have enjoyed lake lawn lodge in the past, our first meeting was great and so was the food, a year later? What a mistake, for a meal at such an excessive price such as this I could NOT have felt more taken or displeasure if I tried! I’ll not be going here again and I will call there to let the highest person I can to voice my and my Lady’s horrible meal, experience and, unexpected terrible experience. No one with any taste or wisdom would ever chance such a horrible costly meal with such bad wait staff and cooks. I’m angry at what has happened on such an important date for our lives we should have celebrated. Instead we were treated with disrespect, frozen, disappointed and suffered nasty ill prepared food all while being served poorly. What a waste of our special day, money and time all while getting sick. Don’t go!
I thought the restaurant was too expensive for the caliber of food... the restaurant needs to be updated.
They have significantly changed the menu, hopefully only temporary because of COVID. Entrees used to be on the higher end and now they are just extreme -- $28 for a vegetarian entrée of one small portabella cap and mashed cauliflower. $29 for a chicken breast. Beef and fish? Way higher. I think this is to make up for lost revenue, but the value is not there. The food was good and the service was good, but they have to change the menu, etc. Used to be much better, and while on the high end, not outrageously overpriced.
Absolutely terrible service. I love Lake Lawn so much and I was extremely disappointed. Server barely came to our table, we were left with empty drinks for 20+ minutes, I received the wrong entree, and overcharged on our bill. Manager was friendly and apologetic, but server was extremely rude when we approached her about our bill.
How can you loose an order for dinner when there were only 5 tables max in use? Drinks were bad, service bad, and the food bad. DONT GO
Fantastic food and atmosphere. Great upscale restaurant!
We appreciated the help of the staff with providing children’s coloring pages and kid friendly drink cups!
We ordered the "better platter" as our appetizer which was very nice. Gave all five of us a taste of all five offerings. The house salad was sufficient in size. The prime rib was excellent along with the loaded baked potato. It was the perfect ending to our long weekend.
Friendly efficient staff. Ease of making reservations. Covid precautions very good. Food was very good, but could use more variety.
We really enjoyed the dinner, all 2.5 hours of it. My wife and I had not been out together for a while, and this was perfect. Service was slow, and I'm sure not to normal standards. I am willing to give a benefit of the doubt, COVID has affected everything. All safety protocols were followed and we felt comfortable. I had perfect prime rib and my wife had perfect salmon. Our server was great, the wheels just turned slow. Would return in the future for the food!
Good food. Pleasant and accommodating service. NOTE: Open Table did not have correct hours for restaurant hence our reservation was made for after the restaurant had quit serving;. The restaurant, however, seated & served us.
We love the Frontier Restaurant at Lake Lawn. We have been here 2 years in a row for our anniversary celebrations since we got married at Lake Lawn. Delicious food, drinks and good ambiance.
