Food was delicious!
So exciting to find good vegan food. The buffalo cauliflower was excellent! Great spices, and a splash of dill scented sauce on the platter. Yum!
The kale Caesar salad-was huge! I loved the pickled onions and red peppers.
Fresh pressed juice and a warm apple desert rounder out our meal.
Everyone was friendly and helpful.
The vegan cheesesteak was amazing, the waiter was very friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant was decorated well
we went on NYE we sat down at 7:30, ordered drinks and apps. the server was nice and friendly. the food was not like it usually was. they were busy and not prepared... not only that but we hadn’t ordered our entrees and we were told that the kitchen was closing in 5 min. so we rushed to put our order in. i have been there many times and love it there but this time wasn’t the best. our cauliflower (my favorite) wasn’t crispy, it was still really crunchy, and not a lot of aioli. i got the pastrami and it was missing 2 things from the sandwich, sauce and the cheese. it was just mushrooms and cabbage. the “loaded fries” were just fries cheese and regular ketchup on the bottom, no chili or anything. i would much rather have been told they were out of the item and get something not done properly.
We've been here many times before for lunch and had a good experience, unfortunately dinner was not good. We were seated next to a noisy party of 10, even though there were multiple open tables when we left. We should have asked the hostess to sit us elsewhere because the noise was unbearable. They were out of certain drinks and they brought all the food at once (appetizers, salads, entrees). We had to send the steak back because it was cold. The chicken sandwich was dry and the fries were lukewarm. We ordered a mushroom soup (the presentation was...odd, it looked like a pig's trough , sorry to say!) and we asked to get the soup instead of fries. We asked for a cup, and the waitress said she would check, but never let us know, and then ended up charging us $11 for a bowl of soup, because it couldn't be changed on the bill. Wish that would have been communicated, because we wouldn't have gotten to soup. Overall, not a great experience :|
We love the buffalo cauliflower ! Everyone enjoyed their food. One hiccup was the grilled cheese sandwiches- they were too well done.
I brought my younger brother and his girlfriend out to lunch after christmas here. Upon arriving we were greeted by a friendly bartender quite promptly. The hostess arrived back at the podium after seating someone and brought us to a cute little booth next to the bar. Our server took some time to greet us so I ordered my bloody mary with her immediately. The drink arrived at the table about 15 minutes later. It probably would have been good had it not been sitting at the bar for so long slowly watering down. The food also took quite some time after we had ordered it. Our server never checked on us to see how our food was and when she happened to walk by we asked for boxes. After ten minutes of waiting the hostess who sat us walked by and when we asked her for boxes as we were trying to get out of there, she brought them with no problem along with our check. We again had to wait for our server to happen to be walking by to give her our payment which then took another ten minutes to get back. Overall the two things that saved this dining experience were the extremely attentive hostess and that the food happened to be extremely mouth watering. Slightly disappointed as the less than great service also discouraged me from ordering another drink.
Always a great time and good food!
We really had a wonderful lunch with my sister, brother-in-law, son, his girlfriend and myself. It was for my son's graduation. Everything was perfect that day and the visit to your restaurant was the finishing touch. Thank you.
Amazing options for both vegans and meat eaters! I had the vegan cheesecake for dessert and it was by far the best I’ve ever had!
The food is wonderful. The wait staff is attentive.
Tables are kind of close together if you are dining as two
but we have never had a problem with the diners next to us.
wish we were in a warmer climate year round as I love sitting outside.
Eggs & potatoes were served cold and tasteless. Disappointing.
Bday it was great!
Great time! They had something for everyone in our group.
Went for dinner, excellent service. Great food.
Could have more vegan menu options as it’s listed on Yelp as one of the top ten vegan spots in Philadelphia.
Perfect dinner get together spot. Food and service excellent.
Have had good experiences here previously, but last night was enough to convince us to change our neighborhood “go-to” to someplace else. Service was awful.
A nice mix of vegan, veg, and meat options.
Very nice ambiance. Seems like an excellent place to relax and have cocktails
Not a good day for the chef.
I would give this place a second try. had the eggplant which the server said was one of her favorites.
It was extremely tough and chewy. Beers were not that big to justify goblets.
The food is always delicious and it is a great atmosphere for brunch!
The food tasted off and we have been going there consistently for the past 3 years. The flavors and texture were not as high quality as it had been in the past. The food took a long time and we’re not sure why that was the case.
Hello and thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience as our number one goal is to make sure that every patron leaves our establishment happy and satisfied. Culinary diversity has meant it’s become considerably harder to satisfy today’s incredibly varied palates, unless you dine at the Front Street Cafe. Vegans, vegetarians and regular foodies can all happily dine together at this wonderful eatery and all be delightfully satisfied. Kick off your dining experience with the buffalo cauliflower and watch the magic begin.
Service was questionable. Actual service was nice however he forgot a few things. We put our appetizer in early and did not receive it. When we got our main meal the food was luke warm. The other staff members gave us weird vibes... we were two African American young woman. Food was so so would have been better if they food was actually hot. The atmosphere was nice/ restaurant was decorated nicely.
I would recommend to vegan friends (and have!) but despite having a wonderfully enjoyable first experience, was disappointed upon my second.
Some cons: It was extremely cold inside which made it difficult to enjoy the meal. Additionally, my friends and I were charged for random things that we didn’t order (ex. a side of Asiago) and a single Diet Pepsi was $3 and there were no complimentary refills. Seems very strange and off-putting to charge such prices given how expensive most items are on the menu, and reflects as a little stingy.
Some good things were the friendly service and the food was made and delivered quickly to the table. Taste was very average however. I don’t think I’ll be back soon :(
Front street cafe is always dependable and I really like the vibe here. The server was especially attentive and friendly. I am also a big fan of their burger! So good. Just a good solid neighborhood spot that is rather nice looking and comfortable.
Delicious food, lots of gluten free, very good beer list.... a really really solid place. Will definitely go back.
Great place to dine
The staff were great. Very accommodating when I was waiting for out of town visitors. The food came out fast, was plentiful and tasty.
My only complaint is about parking and that really isn’t their fault.
The turmeric ginger latte was perfect on a cool rainy day!
As a vegetarian (almost vegan), I found lots of interesting options and really enjoyed what we ordered! French onion soup, their “spaghetti and meatballs “ and the gnocchi were very good! I look forward to going back and trying ore things and sitting out in the garden!
They had good vegan options and kombucha on tap. God location, right by Girard Station.
Great brunch in a lovely restaurant. We had a large party upstairs and it was so enjoyable. Food was delicious and everyone was nice. Would def come back.
Terrific espresso. Nice place, mellow mood, very "branché" as the French would say. Hipsterville personified.
The General Tso's (or Buffalo) Cauliflower continues to be the the highlight of our meals there. And once it again, it was delicious. The Eggplant terrine, unfortunately was only mediocre. It didn't have much flavor and was slightly undercooked, which made the skin fairly chewy.
The cashew cheese cheesecake for dessert was mediocre as well. It's amazing that they were able to make cheesecake out of cashew cheese, but it didn't really hold up to a cheesecake. It was more like a pie.
Our service was slow - and I hate saying that, b/c I was a server for 10 years. I'm not sure if they were short-staffed or what the scenario was (but the restaurant wasn't fully booked). Unfortunately we waited 15 mins before anyone greeted us at our table. The positive about that was when she did finally greet our table we put in our drink and food menu all at that time.
After we ordered the food came out fairly fast, maybe too fast? B/c we got our first round of food (cauliflower) 1 minute before our drinks arrived to the table.
I generally have better experiences at FSC, so my hope is that this mediocre visit was a fluke. This won't keep me from visiting again. I just hope my next experience is as good as it had been before this visit.
Stella cocktail was great. Brussels awesome. Crab cake was a bit soft and had red peppers in it. I am a Maryland crab cake girl!
Not a great place for lunch meetings. T
I really enjoyed the atmosphere of front street cafe. The outdoor patio is amazing and really sets the mood for a good dining experience. Additionally, the round table for a party of 5 was perfect. I enjoy being able to talk to everyone at once and not being forced to talk to just the person across from me or next to me. We went for brunch and the food was great and reasonably priced. My lower rating is a result of the service. As a party of 5, 4 people ordered drinks (a mocha, tea, and two bottomless coffees). The mocha and tea came out at a reasonable time. After about 15 minutes we asked the waiter for the coffees. Then our food came out. I finished my meal and then the two coffees came out. Luckily, the people that ordered the coffees were still eating. However, they forgot the milk and sugar for another 5 minutes. By the time the coffees came out with the milk and sugar, almost all of us were finished with our food. We thought they might get rid of the coffees on the bill, but that didn't happen. It was even more painful because these were bottomless coffees, so there wasn't even any time for a refill! Slightly frustrating. Even with that incident, I would still recommend the restaurant for a friend for the food and atmosphere. Also, A+ for gluten free options.
