Great brunch in a lovely restaurant. We had a large party upstairs and it was so enjoyable. Food was delicious and everyone was nice. Would def come back.
Terrific espresso. Nice place, mellow mood, very "branché" as the French would say. Hipsterville personified.
The General Tso's (or Buffalo) Cauliflower continues to be the the highlight of our meals there. And once it again, it was delicious. The Eggplant terrine, unfortunately was only mediocre. It didn't have much flavor and was slightly undercooked, which made the skin fairly chewy.
The cashew cheese cheesecake for dessert was mediocre as well. It's amazing that they were able to make cheesecake out of cashew cheese, but it didn't really hold up to a cheesecake. It was more like a pie.
Our service was slow - and I hate saying that, b/c I was a server for 10 years. I'm not sure if they were short-staffed or what the scenario was (but the restaurant wasn't fully booked). Unfortunately we waited 15 mins before anyone greeted us at our table. The positive about that was when she did finally greet our table we put in our drink and food menu all at that time.
After we ordered the food came out fairly fast, maybe too fast? B/c we got our first round of food (cauliflower) 1 minute before our drinks arrived to the table.
I generally have better experiences at FSC, so my hope is that this mediocre visit was a fluke. This won't keep me from visiting again. I just hope my next experience is as good as it had been before this visit.
Stella cocktail was great. Brussels awesome. Crab cake was a bit soft and had red peppers in it. I am a Maryland crab cake girl!
Not a great place for lunch meetings. T
I really enjoyed the atmosphere of front street cafe. The outdoor patio is amazing and really sets the mood for a good dining experience. Additionally, the round table for a party of 5 was perfect. I enjoy being able to talk to everyone at once and not being forced to talk to just the person across from me or next to me. We went for brunch and the food was great and reasonably priced. My lower rating is a result of the service. As a party of 5, 4 people ordered drinks (a mocha, tea, and two bottomless coffees). The mocha and tea came out at a reasonable time. After about 15 minutes we asked the waiter for the coffees. Then our food came out. I finished my meal and then the two coffees came out. Luckily, the people that ordered the coffees were still eating. However, they forgot the milk and sugar for another 5 minutes. By the time the coffees came out with the milk and sugar, almost all of us were finished with our food. We thought they might get rid of the coffees on the bill, but that didn't happen. It was even more painful because these were bottomless coffees, so there wasn't even any time for a refill! Slightly frustrating. Even with that incident, I would still recommend the restaurant for a friend for the food and atmosphere. Also, A+ for gluten free options.
The food was good but I did not think it was worth the price
If a friend were looking for a bar with mediocre food, Front Street Cafe is fine. I was looking for a place with interesting and decent food. Front Street Cafe is not that place. And service was uneven. After waiting, I had to get my first drink by getting up and going to the bar (and paying a separate tab). When my guest arrived, we waited a painfully long few minutes for anyone to take her bar order - trying to eyeball the several service people who passed our table but studiously avoided eye contact. Maybe I misjudged. It's a bar with mediocre food and service. I'd envisioned it as more.
Great vegan options. The tortillas were clearly homemade. The service was kind of friendly although they did forget part of our order. I love the outdoor seating! Well worth a visit.
Great food and service
Sat outside, very cool atmosphere for brunch. Brunch was delicious!
Excellent fresh food in a fun atmosphere. Enjoyed sitting in the courtyard our back. Delicious mimosas!
Love it there!! This is our second time there and we've had an excellent lunch both times.
Rustic and friendly with a welcoming atmosphere. Great burger and natural fries and my companion had the chicken fingers from the afternoon menu. Our server was lovely and attentive. The cranberry mojitos were outstanding and tasty. Good sized cocktail not stingy with the liquor. Clean bathroom.
always out of everything loud unorganized never going here again
Great Food.. Accommodated my food allergies and all went smoothly..
This is a lovely place with nice, healthy options.
Amazing hidden gem in Fishtown especially for vegetarian and vegan friendly options. I would highly recommend the garden patio which is open in warmer months. The portions are slightly small for the price though and drinks are somewhat expensive. But I go back again and again!
The waitress was horrible. Which made our experience below average.
Good food. Plenty of options for vegan and gluten free eaters.
The service was very poor. Waited a ridiculously long time for our order to be taken. The food was not good. Turkey burger was too salty, over fried, with a not great flavor.
Potatoes are overly greasy and not good, eggs didn’t even come with toast. Surprising!
Beautiful building, ambiance with gorgeous original architectural features but the the food was not good, like bad diner food and too expensive on top of that for such subpar food. Very disappointed because I loved the ambiance but won’t return because of the food and service. Two out of three, not so good
I love this place! They have such yummy food that is also healthy and all reasonably priced!
Great vegan food!
Waited almost a half an hour for our server to come to our table. Our food came out fairly quick but was very underwhelming. This is the 2nd time in a row have this experience.. won't be dining there ever again.
Brunch was very good. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options.
The food was so average. Pretty disappointed given the hype around this spot.
The predominantly vegan / vegetarian menu has remarkable variety, and contains delicious dishes that even meat eaters will love.
We went there while visiting family because we are vegan and they have such wide variety of Vegan options!! However, the vegan cheesesteak was not good. Otherwise, the experience and wait staff was very good!! We had an enjoyable evening!!!
Always awesome food- love all the vegan choices but also things for meat/fish eaters! Service us always attentive and spot on.
Even were Front Street Cafe NOT only blocks from my house, I'd still go a lot. It's become my go-to place to meet friends for lunch (highly recommend the harvest salad) and a staple for breakfast (great mushroom bacon). Never had a bad meal here.
We have been to the Front Street Cafe a number of times. If it’s just two of us, or the family, it’s always good. I usually make a reservation for weekends, because it’s busy, but worth the wait if you just walk in
Very good food. Family friendly. Vegan friendly. Service was slow.
Flew into Philly and grabbed lunch at Front Street before hopping in the car to drive out to Scranton-boy did we make a great choice! Food was awesome, wait staff wonderful , and vibe was fun! Ok-and MAYBE they were filming a TV show outside while we sat there which just added to our sense of making the right choice. LOVED the Black Bean Burger...
My coworker and I went for a working lunch. We wound up sitting upstairs without table service so we could have space to write/work but it was perfect for what we needed. Everything was great and I’ll definitely keep it in mind for another lunch meeting.
Wasn’t my first time, wont be my last time, but it wasn’t my best time. FSC is one of my favorite spots. I can always count on a good meal, great selections and feeling more then satisfied when I leave. Unfortunately that wasn’t this time. I had reservations, and upon arriving we requested an outdoor seat and were accommodated with no issue. Upon seating our server stopped by brought us water and that’s where the first failure started. I asked for sparkling , gf asked for regular water. He only returned with the regular not the sparkling. No big deal. Really not an issue and had the rest of the meal been great I’d probably not even remember the water thing. Our server generally seemed to have an attitude and seemed annoyed that he has to serve us ? I’m not sure what was going on. We were more then polite and he just seemed to rather be elsewhere. He took our order and didn’t write it down. Some waiters do, some don’t. But if you mess up on an order you apparently aren’t the type that should go by memory. We ordered the Garlic Cauliflower as it’s relatively new and we hadn’t had it yet. I’ve had the other two flavors dozens of times and was excited to try the new one. A short time later after taking our order the cauliflower came out. It wasn’t long , only a couple minutes later and our food followed. Timing is key. Bringing someone’s food 2-3 mins after an appetizer was just dropped off is not standard practice. It felt rushed. On top of that, we realIzed that the cauliflower was the wrong type. We were given the buffalo instead of what we ordered. I asked the lady that brought our food out if she could send the waiter and she asked if something was wrong and could she help ... I said yes, we ordered garlic cauliflower not the buffalo she said ok no worries. The waiter stopped by a few seconds later and said “oh you wanted garlic cauliflower not buffalo”? I said yes, that what we ordered. He walked away with a smugness and later brought the correct item.
Amazing food, amazing people, wonderful atmosphere. The cauliflower small plates are AWESOME!
The food was delicious and the service was very good. The ambiance is so relaxed and the backyard seating area is really pretty. I will definitely be back.
The coffee is good, service is great, room upstairs is pretty and perfect if you need a quiet space to work. The food was disappointing. I ordered an açaí bowl which was served frozen with a muesli instead or a granola, and the raspberries were mushy. I sent it back and ordered hot cakes. The presentation was good, but when I took my first bite it was uncooked in the middle. I tried the second hot cake and same thing. All of them were doughy and uncooked in the middle.
I’ll go back for coffee if I am in the area, but I will not have food there again. Friends warned me the food was not great.
Fried chicken sandwich was really quite good and French fries cooked perfectly. Could have used more non-alcoholic drink options at lunch, like lemonade or low-sugar vitamin drinks. Service was very friendly and accommodating. Nice young neighborhood crowd. Cool vintage building with a warm “industrial” contemporary atmosphere.
