   Our party of 7 had a late morning reservation for breakfast, celebrating a family event. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived (nor did it become busy during our meal). Our meals came our in pieces---those who ordered pancakes received them (and nothing else--accompanying sides not delivered at same time) 10 min ahead of those with egg meals. For one side of eggs, we had to remind 2 different waitstaff on 3 occasions, and they did not finally arrive until everyone had finished eating. Unfortunately, the unapologetically poor service and uncoordinated food delivery were a major frustration on what should have been a relaxing and festive occasion. When I reached out to the restaurant later, they said to drop them a line when we're in town so we can be shown the Lumen experience. When I mentioned we are in fact, local, not hotel guests, there was no further follow up. Disappointing service during and after the visit.

   We had a reservation at 6:00. We arrived (apparently by the back door) and waited for someone to approach us. After several minutes a patron asked if we needed help. She directed us to the front of the room. We were greeted, fro, behind the bar, and told we could sit anywhere. Sort of an odd experience. Our server was darling and our food was delicious. They had just transitioned to a new chef. Limited menu.

   I hadn’t been there for a long time and was shocked at the deterioration of this place. I recalled a farm to table menu with diverse and delicious options. The food was no better than something I guy ordwr at the Dallas Zoo or a water park. There were only 3 dinner options- a burger, a chicken club were 2 of them. The salads used nice greens at least. Sitting outside there were screaming toddlers running around taking very loudly with no parental oversight (not the restaurants fault but also not great). The tables were old outside with few options and I was facing north so that every car tha pulled in to valet was shining it’s light directly in my eyes (maybe have people turn off lights asap? In addition the seating was next to the road and a narrow driveway so that those same suvs pulled next to me as the left writhin a foot or so with almost no barrier. A little thought to detail would go a long way. Service was okay. Dinner and drinks were. It quick either time I came.

   The restaurant looked more like a diner than a tavern. There was no ambience. But the staff was very pleasant; the Bloody Marys were quite good, and the brunch items were tasty and generous. My Mexican style eggs over refried beans with cotija cheese and crema was real comfort food on a blustery January morning. Good coffee too.

   They don’t actually take reservations!!! Although I had a reservation for a party of 7, my group came and found there wasn’t even a hostess. We also had to get up and find a server to take our order. They need more help.

    The location is great but the food was unimpressive. We only had the charcuterie board but we were so disappointed that we decided to have dinner elsewhere. This place has so much potential but they need to up their culinary game.

    Great ambiance. We had a party of 6. I appreciated that the chef came out to ask about our meal. We didn't have the heart to say that 4 of us had the same egg dish that was very runny. The plates all came out with drastically different times between each. The server was very nice, but it didn't make up for the mediocre food and poor timing that made our meal disjointed. We've eaten here in the past and had a great experience, so maybe this was just a one-off.

    The service was awful and so was the food. Half of the order arrived cold. The food delivered did not have the sides described on the menu. Evidently the restaurant has new owners. Not nearly as good as it used to be.

    Made a reservation however told to just sit anywhere. Almost seemed as if it was a first come first serve atmosphere. I've visited FRT in the past and had a more personal welcome in line with what you expect when making reservations. The server was friendly, but the food did take a bit to come out. There was one other table aside from the 5 of us in the restaurant. Portion relative to pricing was a bit small, especially being in Preston Hollow area it doesn't align to what you would get at a similar restaurant. The decor was fantastic, clean, and a nice experience aside from this.

    Unfortunately the food was poor; both the chicken sandwich and the chicken in the pasta dish was tough and rubbery, the hanger steak had very little flavor but was quite tender actually, but on the hamburger the got the order wrong and did not hold the “special sauce” as requested. Our waiter however was very good and tried to be as accommodating as possible. The issues appear to be in the kitchen.

    Headed to Front Room Tavern following church today with my parents and 3 kids. We were not greeted upon arrival and it took an excessive amount of time, maybe 15-20 minutes, to get the attention of the staff - who told us to self-seat our party of 7. We pulled our own tables together and then sat another 20ish minutes before anyone approached our table. It was comical how long we were there for breakfast. We arrived at 10:40am and did not depart until 1:25pm - with 3 kids under 10. Our food arrived at approximately 12:55pm with my personal meal arriving around 1:20pm. The food was not good. The wait staff was very sweet and kind, not their fault. This place should shut down until management can come up with a better plan for taking care of its guests.

    We were told to seat ourselves despite having an Open Table Reservation. The restaurant was very quiet with an atmosphere that is low key and inviting. Unfortunately, the food was very mediocre that night. We started off with the artichoke and spinach dip which was nice. Of the four of us, two were very disappointed by our meals. The Chimichurri Chicken was cut very thin and it was overcooked making the chicken very dry with roasted veggies that were also cooked far too long. The Flatbread Basil Pesto Pizza was also extremely dry with an strong cilantro flavor - not basil at all. It had a dry soapy flavor that was unsatisfying - almost like holding a thin piece of soap in your mouth as punishment for saying a naughty word. Despite telling our server that the flatbread wasn't good (not eating it) and reordering a different meal instead - we were charged for that meal along with everything else. This may have been an off-night. The cocktails were made well. The vibe of Front Room Tavern is super cool and could have only improved with some mellow music to go with the candlelight and mod furnishings. I hope the chef takes the food off the grill a bit quicker and distinguishes herbs better when prepping food for future patrons.

    The worst service I’ve had at a restaurant in SO long. Eaten here several times but this poor waiter must have been new. He forgot to put in our entree order. Food was taking forever so he brought out Mac and cheese which we didn’t order and neither of us could eat. After complaining, they said it was due to slow kitchen. But when food finally came, my short rib wasn’t even warm. We tried to be as nice as we could but it was beyond ridiculous.

    Horrible experience. They were short handed, the food was sorely undercooked (grits and pasta) and cold, and the service was slow. They were clearly not prepared for a busy night with a popular performance going on across the street at SMU. We even had an early reservation (5:00 pm). Sadly disappointed with the evening.

    Great location to campus for SMU graduation. Small but nice wine list. Our server,Amy, was excellent. Catch of the day and burgers were excellent. The spaghetti and flank steak were fair. Flank steak very tough. 3 pp ordered and all felt the same.

    So glad John (waiter) is back. All of waitstaff is terrific. Wish menu had some more basics/classics because I feel the chef tries too hard to make the menu too upscale. Customers in this neighborhood just want good food and drinks. Doesn’t need to be too exciting.

    We’ve been to this restaurant before, so we are hoping that they were just having a bad night. The food was actually good, but they seemed short staffed. We waited to be seated. We waited to place an order. They forgot our appetizers and got our order wrong— unapologetically. Dinner took twice as long as it should have simply out of neglect. Even picking up our car proved difficult as the valet was doubling as the hotel check-in and bellhop. The cars were so backed up in the drive up that we were just given our keys and pointed in the direction of where they parked our car. That being said, the food was good and it is certainly close and easy. Again just hoping they were having on off night.

    Amazing food! We had brunch...omelet with all the fixings except tomatoes, and biscuits biscuit gravy was quite yummy, and liked the biscuit prep. Scrambled eggs were a surprise under the gravy, I might have asked on the side had I known, but were good. The hash browns were a revelation - crispy yet creamy. Fantastic cheesey grits on the side, along with good quality bacon. Nice cocktails and great coffee. Service was very friendly but a bit sporadic...drinks showed up long after food, and a requested cappuccino was completely forgotten (though comped once discovered. We'll be back!

    An associate and I had a very fine lunch/meeting at the Front Room Tavern. The food and service were very good, we could hear each other without being overheard, and the space was quite contusive to a relaxed interchange of information.
