Frog & the Hen
This was my and my sister’s first time at Frog and the Hen. I heard people at work talking about it and thought it would be a good place to take her for her Birthday lunch. I was right. We had a great experience! The food was good and the service was great. We will definitely be going back. As a matter of fact, I have already made reservations to return.
Was hoping for a nice weekday dinner with my husband. Waitress was a bit cold and odd. Entrees arrived three minutes after our dinner salads. Restaurant does not serve name brand beer—only artisan that is a bit weird. Seems out if place for an establishment that serves primarily homecooked roast chicken, mashed potatoes, and meatloaf. Please offer some real honey mustard salad dressing as that honey dijon dressing is bitter. Restaurant doe not offer too many gluten-free options other than salad, chicken or salmon—and no gluten-free dessert to speak of—so disappointing after that terrible salad dressing and the weird wine and beer offerings. This place has potential but it needs some tweaking!
Server was great.
Chicken Schnitzel was very tasty to my husband and I in the beginning. But as we were finishing the other end of the meat was way over cooked Then I turned mine over and it was almost black.
Tasted wonderful until that. We did not complain to our server. Since we didn’t see that until we were almost finished eating.
I just regretted that the meat was turned over so we didn’t see it right away. If we had we could have asked for a recook.
We will still dine again.
It wasn’t the entire piece of chicken that was over cooked just one end of it.
We are so thankful to find a restaurant where we can comfortably eat gluten free without worry. Both my husband and myself have Celiac Disease. We felt well taken care of. Thank you for a wonderful meal!
Fresh, unique, & tasty food, friendly service, charming atmosphere.
The interior of the restaurant was not as romantic or personal as I expected it to be and there wasn't many options for dinner. The roasted chicken was pretty good but the Mac n cheese was not hot and the collard greens was sweet and spicy, which is not how I usually like it but our waitress was great and attentive. I would give it another try
Husband had salmon and it was perfect! I had chicken schnitzel dish and was surprised it was served as a salad In a bowl. Chicken on bottom and salad and potatoes on top! Because of this, it was cold. Meat could not be hot or it would wilt the salad and potatoes were cold mixed in the salad! I would have enjoyed more if food was served as side salad and potatoes and meat alone. Then it would have been served hot! The dish had a good flavor but I like my chicken and potatoes to be served warm! Dessert was delish! Hope they consider this as an option!
The food was delicious, and the service was incredible.
Awesome service and meals!
Great experience as usually. Our date night!
It was awesome.
This was our 1st visit to the Frog and Hen. We ordered the salmon and roasted chicken. Portions were plentiful and large enough to share. We loved the side items of collards, mac and cheese and broccoli cassserole. The only criticism would be that the salmon was too dry. We love the salmon on top of the asian salad at Village Deli and were hoping this would be as good...but it wasn't.
Service was excellent!
We all had a great time catching up and the food was fabulous!
The salmon was very good. Also had the prime rib special with mashed potatoes also very good! We enjoyed the dining experience and look forward to returning again.
Amazing flavors. Great experience. Staff very friendly and attentive. Definitely going back.
First time at Frog & the Hen. I’ve been hearing about this restaurant since they’ve opened and the comments were always good. The experience lived up to my expectations. I will return!
As I don not eat meat, the menu is limited for me. However, there are several choices. I do like their salmon dish. This being said....three times I have asked for it to be cooked medium-rare; three times the waitstaff says that is how the chef prepares it, and three times it has come out well done. This last time, I specifically mentioned to the waitress to please tell the chef to make sure it is medium/rare. It came out again well done. As we were with another couple, I told her that I did not want to wait for them to cook it again...they would be through with their meals. I told her I would eat it, but it is very frustrating that this happens. The manager said the chef should know the difference between medium/rare and well done and he was going to take it off our bill even though I said I would eat it, which I thought was very nice. However, they did not take it off the bill and we were charged for it.
Deviled eggs were great...salmon was great and my mother enjoyed their cheddar biscuit. She got chicken and dumplings(special for Thursday evening)...way to spicy. She ended up sick at 3am. Sadly, not impressed.
Nice place for fresh food. Second time eating here. Would go back. I recommend.
My daughter wanted to go there for her birthday. I am vegan and there were virtually no options. I did make it work but for the cost to me it wasn’t worth it. Others seemed to enjoy the meat loaf....they did allow us to bring a cake. Our server seemed over booked....rarely refilled drinks....overall just was not that impressed. I know that this is a chicken place but in this day and age....higher end establishments should offer at least one decent vegan option that isn’t just a salad.
Cosy, farm to table restaraunt. Large portions for the price and a great addition to the area. I've now been for brunch and dinner, and both were excellent. Get the roasted chicken!
Great food. Especially the snacks. Excellent service. Wonderful experience.
Loved the aesthetic of this place! Menu was limited and what the menu online shows, may not actually be served. Service was great! Wish there were more options, roasted chicken was on the menu twice...out of 5-6 options???
Everything was great. Good, service, and ambiance is good. Food is a little over priced. Overall, good experience.
We enjoyed our visit. The prime rib was excellent and our waiter was excellent!
This was the first time my friends and I dined at this restaurant, and we definitely plan to go back. The food was unique and delicious, and the service was great.
The service was great. The food tasted ok. The portion size was small. We felt like for the price paid, the experience was not worth it.
Wonderful food! Great service! First time patrons. We will be back!!!
Not haute cuisine, but honest, fresh, tasty food served by very nice people.
We had a lovely dinner with friends. The cocktails we great, small and on the experience side, our service was impeccable and the food very good and reasonably priced. Overall great experience. We will be back!
wait staff is great , the restaurant was very clean and updated .. food rocked!
Compared to their sister restaurant, Frog Hollow, it just can’t compete. I was hoping for a great ‘every day dining’ place but I left feeling just mediocre. The service was great but the food just lacked for me. I’ve heard brunch is great so I’ll give it another try since we went at dinner.
I had the chicken pot pie. Honestly, it had absolutely no flavor. After having to take the bottom plug out of the salt shaker to get the wet, globbed together salt out and lots of pepper, it became somewhat edible but that's it. I DID ask the waitress for another salt shaker, she hit the bottom of the shaker on her palm, shook some out and said "there's some in there, it's coming out. Just barely! Haha". I could get two pot pies at KFC that would put yours to shame. (Sorry, I REALLY wanted to like your place!!). The side salad was good but rather small. For $20 (including tip and I drank water), I would have expected much better. My friend had the chicken schnitzel. She said it was over cooked and the chimichurri sauce was just OK. Another friend had a Greek salad and she said it was "fine".
The food was very good and the portions were generous.
This was our first visit. The food was great.
We would recommend F & H.
My only criticism is that we had a reservation (in which I indicated it was a birthday) and when we arrived we were seated near the activity of beverage bar in the back which also seemed to be near a speaker that was a bit too loud for us. There were a lot of open tables on the other side of the restaurant with more ambiance and I don’t understand why this occurred. I surely did not want a birthday meal in this location!
We were moved when I requested.
Good food; quite tasty, but rather small portions. Maybe it was just the entree I had( gnocchi) I would revisit and try something a little different. However, I’m glad we have a nice restaurant on this side of town.
Great ambiance, decor and awesome ladies-who-lunch spot!
Since its opening, I have been hearing many good things about the Frog and The Hen. Based on my experience last night, these reports were very accurate. While the menu is smaller than many other restaurants, the selection of appetizers, salads, and entrees were diverse and inviting. Our total experience was superb in every aspect. The Frog and The Hen has been added to my CSRA favorites list.
Great new local place. Fun menu, fresh ingredients, fast service ..love that breakfast lunch and dinner is served!!
This restaurant wants to be casual but in a fancy way which just gives it an identity crisis. I made a reservation thinking it would be busy on a Saturday, it wasn't. They sat us in the bar area, with a reservation I expect to be sat in the proper dining room. Server was fine, cheese biscuits were very good.
I got the roasted half chicken with green beans and mac and cheese. The chicken was fine nothing special, green beans were good, mac & cheese was dry and overly smokey. My boyfriend got the chicken pot pie and was really excited for it. He hated it, there was too much sauce and not enough crust to soak it up. He also said the sauce was kinda sweet and the cornbread topping was sweet as well which just made the whole thing unappetizing. He did say that without the crust it was much better. Oh and the water tasted really weird.
