Frigate's Waterfront Bar Grill Ratings and Reviews
Casual waterfront restaurant. Sitting outside is a must for the best ambiance. I loves the salad I had, I added chicken and it was a big meal. Sweet potato fries were excellent too. They have a great drink menu in case u r just going to drink and enjoy the view. You can pull up to the socks on your boat! Our server George was really attentive and friendly.
the food was delicious. everybody was very friendly. the waiter was great .there was only 1 busboy for the entire restaurant. the waiter was busy with so many table we knew that our entrees were coming soon, so we put appetizer dishes over on the bar counter to have room on our table.
Food was outstanding. Fish tacos among the best we've ever had. Macadamia-crusted yellowtail snapper fresh and plentiful. We sat outside to enjoy the view but unfortunately, smoking is still allowed and there were 2 smokers seated right beside us. The bar area was not far from our dining table so perhaps management should consider restricting smoking to the bar area. We all commented that the food was a "10" but the smoking brought it down to a "6". Hard to enjoy good food when all you smell is cigarette smoke.
With so many choices in the area I would not go back as they are a level below what I had expected. The food was fair to average, the soup was okay and the service was spotty. Its a nice location and we ate outside by the docks but in that area I would go elsewhere for better food as the ambiance can be matched at few different places.
This wasn't our first time dining at Frigate's, however, it was our worst experience. We made a reservation and still had to wait 40 minutes for a table and when we finally got out table it was another hour before our food was ready and served. I was very disappointed.
We made a reservation for 5 for my 50th birthday. The table was not ready so they pieced together a high top table which my mother was unable to sit at. The hostess said - "well this is all we have for 5 outside" I never asked to sit outside and asked if we could sit inside - the place was far from busy. We sat near the restrooms. Our waitress was new or just slow - she spoke little English and everytime we asked about something she said 'I have to talk to my manager" - this would include a simple request of "can I have avocado?" (they were out of avocado) She messed up our drinks order, never asked if we needed refills (we had to ask the busboy) and we had to flag her down for the bill. We didn't stay for a birthday dessert. terrible!
Visited in Feb. for an outdoor dinner. Outdoor area is on a canal, large tiki sort of bar was hopping at 5 pm. We enjoyed sitting outside while it was still light and enjoying a drink. Several boats went by in the canal, lively atmosphere at the bar, it was fun.
At dinner, things went downhill. Stayed outdoors for dinner, several of the heat lamps stopped working. The manager had to keep coming by to relight/adjust the one near us (he was trying to be helpful, but it was annoying as we had to keep getting up). It was not well lit, hard to see/eat the food. My daughter's chicken fingers from the kids menu were fine. My husband and I had fish dishes, they were ok, seemed fresh but nothing out of the ordinary. Pricey for the quality.
Another example of mediocrity that the locals accept. From the mojitos with seltzer but berift of liquor, to the Cuban salad with rock hard tomatoes and unripe avocado, to the lack of bread and butter (except for the supermarket roll slathered with garlic oil), it was disappointing. It's supposed to be a fish place, but there were only four relatively expensive fish dishes. Shockingly, the steamers from Long Island were first-rate. The outdoors tables are on a canal that probably leads to the Intercoastal, so the setting was OK. We canceled a second reservation.
Given the price, the food was terrible. Without considering price, it was fair. The food was very salty, everything arrived all at once (salad arrived with the hot meal), and we never received the glasses of water we asked for twice. The server was friendly, but when asked what the vegetable of the day was, she said it was "a medley." A medley of what, exactly? She wasn't sure. When asked what the fish of the day was, she recited exactly the type of fish that was printed on the board, but did not describe how it was seasoned or prepared. I wouldn't expect much from a place that has a drink menu that's the same size as the menu, but at prices that are on the very high end of moderate, very disappointing. Would not return.
Beautiful restaurant and dock side atmosphere. The food is very good, there is a nice mix of unique drinks. This is definitely a choice if you have never been. The Sunday Brunch is unbelievable. It is a good alternative to Guanabuanas, (actually the food is better).
Watched super bowl here while on vacation. Plenty of tvs around the bar. Loved the Asian chicken wings, lobster mac and cheese was great and shared a fried fish sandwich. All the food was very good. Indoor restaurant was quiet, so don't want to comment on that.
Found this gem of a place from Trip Advisor and Open Table...both are my go to place for great dining and travel info.
We are looking forward to dining here for dinner, but this rating is for Sunday Brunch. It was well worth the price. We sat outside by the water on a picture perfect morning. The food choice was amazing...pasta table...made to order omelets. That's only the beginning...from there you can find salads, fruit, breads, cheeses, prime rib and ham, eggs benedict, bacon, sausage, waffles, potato options,...etc... The list of food options is vast. You can pay a flat rate for unlimited bloody mary's and mimosa's. Coffee was delicious too. We had a great server and would recommend being seated at her station....just ask for Merida.
While searching for a Sunday brunch with a water view we came up Frigate's. While it's not an ocean or even an inter-coastal view, you are on a nice canal watching small boats enjoy the water. The buffet choices were terrific but the highlight was the make your own Bloody Mary Bar, complete with everything from blue cheese stuffed olives, to bacon, to hearts of palm, huge shrimp, cheese, etc. Great value as well. Don't miss it!
Wonderful waitress, great salads, very congenial atmosphere, plus one of the few "on the water "restaurants in the area. In nice weather, the outside dining area is multilevel. Good variety of choices on the menu. Booths are a great spot for being able to have a conversation, so we had a very enjoyable experience.
I went with 5 others for dinner and we had great food. Everyone had something different and all the entrees were tasty. While it was a cold evening all the heaters they had kept all of us warm. The server was friendly and the view along the canal was a good one.
My husband and I were at Frigate's 3 days in a row because we liked it so much. The bartenders and staff were very friendly, and we loved their Sunday Brunch! The food was delicious and the waitress was very attentive! I can't wait to visit them again on our next trip!!!!
We had reservations for Sunday brunch. This is not the first time we have been there for brunch, but this time it was very overcast and the forecast was for rain all day. We were shown to our table outdoors, closest to the water. It was a great table but it started to rain shortly after we arrived. We got soaking wet and the waitress never returned to ask us if we wanted to move inside. Food was great but eating in the pouring rain? Not so much...
My wife and I went here on New Years. This one was tough to rate. We got Calamari, which was rubbery (overcooked). I ordered a Caesar Salad which would have been spectacular if it did not have the croutons that were burnt. My hogfish with crab on top was UNBELIEVABLE(It could have been even better, but it had tons of lemon in the sauce)! The service was pretty good.
To sum it all up, ask them to cook the calamari on the lighter side if you want that, get a Caesar without croutons, and order the hogfish.
friends picked the restaurant...so I was very very surprised by the view as well as the food...I had read reviews on Yelp, so I had the lobster mac and cheese...I was hesitant to order as we live in maine so lobster is our native dish...however, the mac and cheese was loaded with sweet lobster and we took home a very large doggie bag. our service is good...friends had shrimp scampi and the tuna...everyone was very happy with the food, service and of course catching up with good friends. will definitely tell all my palm beach gardens friends of this new-ish restaurant.
For less than twenty dollars Frigates offers a great smorgasbord Sunday brunch in the North Palm Beach, Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens area.
The food is always good to excellent, service is good and the ambiance is great. Especially if you like dining outside overlooking boats, docks and the Intracoastal Waterway.
Oh, I almost forgot the very reasonable endless Champagne or Bloody Marys they offer.
We went by boat for brunch. They had a wide selection of food: pasta bar, waffle bar, omlette station. Carving station, salmon, shrimp, pastries and desserts, fruit, sausage and bacon. Their cheesy hash brown were amazing. Eggs Benedict a plus in my book. Mimosa and bloody Mary's all you can drink for $12. Will be back for more. Wait staff are fun and efficient.
Really enjoyed our outdoor Sunday brunch as the weather was about 30 degrees warmer than back home in Rhode Island. Surprisingly large selection of food in the buffet. Biggest surprise was the shrimp which was supposed to go on grits - sorry, we New Englanders don't do grits. Bottomless mimosas are a wonderful thing. Fun to watch the boats go by. Very impressed that the manager came and chatted with us. That really is a nice touch. Was amused by the TV screens that were labeled which football games would be televised so patrons could stake out their seats. Looks like a fun place to spend a Sunday NFL afternoon. Hope to come back again someday.
