Tried this place for the first time with family from out of town. We started with “signature” cocktails, which were great but not exceptional. We ordered the guacamole, which was a small but fresh portion, accompanied with some tortilla chips and pork skins. We asked for salsa, but they didn’t have any. As we enjoyed our cocktails, we noticed it seemed as if no one had food on their table. I think there was a problem in the kitchen, as an hour passed after we place our order. Everyone seemed to just be waiting, which was unfortunate. When our food finally arrived, it was good. We may go back again, but I think they have some problems to address before I would recommend this place. I wish them luck especially with other competitors in the neighborhood.
The food is decent but can you imagine we placed the order at 7:05PM, got our appetizer at 7:45 and our entree at 9:05PM? The water was not refilled even once, and we ran out of wine as well. We were checking with the server multiple times and what looks worse is that the restaurant is not even half full...
It seems as though this is a new venue. Although the servers were very friendly, there were issues with getting drinks and food- major delays. It took almost 30 minutes for two drinks. Our server was also very confused with where our drinks were, if we ordered and who ordered what. Everyone is very nice, but there is confusion in who is doing what. The food was excellent.
Horrible service, we waited 2 hrs for the food and the food was horrible, salty and raw. Not worth neither the money and time.
Food was beyond spectacular. Authentic and delightful flavors. Service not rushed and ambiance delightful. Website is an accurate reflection of reality. We’ll be back!
The food was excellent as was the service. We had the cocktails - both gorgeous to look at and delicious to drink. The watermelon drink with tequila was excellent and the lychee drink with the smoke was photographed and shared. All the dishes were good, but the ceviche, the pulpo and the guacamole were favorites.
Thank you so Much the great staff at Frida midtown for making my birthday so special. The hospitality, the food, the drinks the ambiance, everything was perfect. I will be coming again and I hope you guys continue to make customers as happy as you made me
This place is amazing! Decided to try it out since it was just steps away from the Hilton Garden Inn Midtown East. Everything we ordered was delicious. (Check out my photos.)
My favorite surprise was the dessert, Dulce Frida. It's tomatoes slow cooked with sugar, cinnamon, and citrus served with vanilla ice cream (if I remember correctly). I know it sounds weird, but they tasted nothing like tomatoes. They reminded me of a dessert version of my grandmother's stewed tomatoes.
I will definitely visit this restaurant again.
The food was excellent, we had a variety of main courses and all were outstanding. Everything was fresh and bright tasting. Portions were more than adequate. The servers were helpful, attentive and easy to interact with. I will be back!
Food was nothing special but the place was very aesthetically pleasing
