Friar Tuck's Restaurant & Bar
We have been going here for years. now New management. Female bartender was extremely unfriendly and the waitstaff was rather rude. We ended up leaving and not getting dinner.
Definitely make a reservation if you're planning to have dinner on a Friday or Saturday night, we were seated next to the hostess booth and they were turning away people every couple of minutes throughout our dinner.
Pro tip: you can eat the entire menu at the bar (with the exception of the hot peanut oil fondue). My 10 year old and I had the fondue, both of us thought it was heavy-handed on the wine. Otherwise, great experience, perfect place for a winter night with friends and family.
Their Tuckhattan is the best drink in town, the service is excellent and the food wonderful.
I always leave happy when I visit Friar Tuck’s. Great food, great ambiance, great service!
Our food and drinks were delicious! The service level was not what we expected it. There was little interaction with the service staff and we felt rushed to pay our bill and leave.
Great service and excellent food. Loved Dream & the Dreamers
The food and service was great.
We will come back.
Consistently nice evening. Appreciate the fondue and friendly service.
Great little place in a cute little town. Good food, the fondue is great. Perfect place for a friday date night.
Food was good, and great ambiance. Service was very slow.
Love the chocolate fondue!
Awesome as always. Love Julie. Always takes care of us. Food was great too.
Four of m girlfriends came up from Las Vegas over Labor day weekend. I wanted to take them somewhere special. They loved Friar Tucks, food & drinks were fantastic. Our waitress Tina was absolutley fabulous. She joined right in with the craziness with us. Then surprised us with the funniest dessert. My friends are already talking about going back for our next annual get together.
Thank you to Friar Tucks & especially Tina for helping me make a memorable time for them in Nevada City.
My family and I have been going to Friar Tuck's in December for the last seven years as a tradition. We recently went there in the summer. Friar Tuck's has been a family favorite place to go for a special evening. The food has always been very good. The service has always been outstanding. Ambiance is charming. We would highly recommend Friar Tuck's to anyone who is looking for a special dinner.
Drinks were wonderful and had cheese fondue as always.
They swapped extra vegetables for the bread. Steak was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing!
We enjoyed our evening from the moment we walked in. We were greeted by the Hostess and seated in the room we had requested. Started out with one of their creative cocktails and the most delicious Mushroom appetizer. Relaxed at our table listening to the live music coming in from the bar. Our entrees ( Bleu Champagne Steak and Rack of Lamb) were both well prepared and we enjoyed our wine with our meal. The staff was excellent!
Unfortunately we didn’t have room for dessert.
Love this restaurant and Julie. It was great to meet the owner as well.
Julie was the best waitress that we have had in a while :)
Friar Tucks has always been our go-to place for special occasions. Our server Julie was, as always, very friendly and attentive. We look forward to seeing her every time we dine there.
Well prepared meal.. Great service. Meet the owner who was acting as the sommelier! Good folks. Well worth the time to visit.
Our usual go-to place for our anniversary is closed on Monday, so we decided to give Friar Tuck's a try--hadn't been there in many years. We enjoyed the experience. The food was more bountiful than necessary; we both left some on our plate. It was also a little rich for our tastes. But the wine was good, the service was excellent, and the dessert was fabulous. We'll go back.
Absolutely love Tucks, been going for decades, always the best place for fondue and great company. Service is fantastic and feel so lucky to have this in my backyard.
Two nights ago my wife and i had dinner there for the third time.we met the new owner, who was really cool.the food is awsome, drinks are great really nice experiance.we will come back again and again.
Everything was great! We stopped in on our way home from Tahoe.
Great ambiance, great service, delicious food and the owner was very attentive to guests. An overall great experience. We will be back.
My wife’s favorite spot for her birthday dinner. They never disappoint.
Friar Tuck's is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is superb and I enjoy the live entertainment in the bar.
It was a real treat to come to FT's after not being in for several years. We brought friends who were there for the first time. Our service from Julie was awesome, the food terrific, and the new owner even came and visited with us after dinner. A super Nevada City experience, and we will be back.
Friendly staff, quick service. Owner dropped by to check in with us. Overall we had a great experience
Excellent evening! We brought out of town guest and the food and service was outstanding! We will definitely be back.
As always, we were extremely happy with our visit. Server was friendly and knew about choices, brought drinks and bread with olive oil and vinegar. (Think our server was named Melissa - she was GREAT!!)
Our food came out in perfect timing and was BEYOND amazing! We left unexpectedly early and the staff was great about boxing up our food and getting our check right away.
The setting is beautiful and I am so glad this place is still in business. You would never know it changed ownership this year, the quality is just the same!
We have been going to Friar Tuck's for 26 years. It recently changed ownership and remains just as good as it has always been. The food is excellent and very well priced for the quantity and quality. The bar is excellent. It has a great atmosphere and an overall excellent dining experience.
The entertainment (Bias and Dunn) were A+. Service very good. My roast duck was not up to par; skin not crisp and meat a little dry. Perfect setting for acoustic music.
My date and I had a fabulous time. Good food and great wine selection.
Wife’s birthday. Been coming here 20 years, mostly special or romantic occasions, always for the fondue. Before and after the fire and rebuild. Definitely disappointed in the service this time. Waitress tried hard but was unfamiliar with trimmed-down menu. The bar server was terrible, first told the birthday girl that Pinot Grigio and Pinot Gris were the same thing. Then brought ONE Bubble for a table of FOUR Bubble n Squeak and seemed very surprised when we asked for the other three. Sub-par for sure.
Very good food.ill be going back very soon with my wife .we love this place.
My wife and I shared the Bourbon Filet- well seared on the outside, rare on the inside. We have never had better. We were seated in the "Sherwood Forest Room". Very nice. A large party next to us was a bit "energetic" at times but it was a quiet room after that (except for us). Others in our party had the duck, another a shrimp pasta. Everyone was happy with their meal. The service was excellent. The new owner came by our table to see how we enjoyed the meal.
Great all around experience. The owner walks around greeting guests. Great vibe.
Eating at Friar Tucks is more of an, overall, experience than just a great meal.
The ambient lighting mixed with a lovely setting makes for a nice backdrop for nothing less than a gourmet meal.
Matched with the delicious food, and lovely environment is the equally impressive kind and attentive waitstaff. I loved my time at Friar Tucks and will be returning there soon.
