Our server Brad was great. The food was outstanding,we all had something different and each were presented nicely and tasted wonderful.
Just all around a great place to brunch!! Its our go to place to bring our out of town guests.
Second visit to Fresko - just as great as the first visit! Will be back. Staff has been so wonderful and accommodating. Atmosphere is super fun and hip. Love suggesting this place to friends!
Awesome adult beverages and a yummy, diverse menu. Great at accommodating larger groups. You should probably go, just saying.
Have been for brunch and dinner. Fun energy! Service was awesome and super knowledgeable about menu— offered great suggestions!
I've been there a few times now and love that they are Gluten Free conscience. Good food and love the Lavender Lemonade.
Great food. The waitress was phenomenal. It was a little loud but there were multiple large groups that night. Reserved online.
The food was awesome and we definitely will be going back. We were super excited about happy hour, but when we sat down and ordered our drinks we then found out that happy hour was only offered on the bar side. We definitely would have been sitting on the bar side and we would have not had a reservation if we knew this was the case. I'm not sure the reasoning behind not having happy hour through the whole restaurant, but we ordered a lot less than we originally intended to do so because of this. Other than that, the food was great and it was an awesome atmosphere.
Food good, service excellent, but the noise level was intolerable. You could not even converse with the people at your table or for that matter the waitress had to bend down to the table to hear, will not return for that reason.
Excellent addition to downtown. Drinks were good too.
I really wanted to like this place, because they have so many gluten-free options. My husband and I went for dinner on Tuesday night. We were sat in the adjacent side room, which really feels like an afterthought. I would actually ask never to be sat there again. It was incredibly loud. And the view into the lobby of the building next-door made it seem like I was sitting in the lobby, not inside of a nice restaurant. Our service was fantastic. But the food itself was just not good overall. Whenever we go to a new restaurant, we like to try lots of menu items. So we had the tempura shrimp, the Mediterranean skewers, fish tacos, short rib tacos, beet & goat cheese salad with salmon, roasted potatoes, and cauliflower au gratin. The tempura shrimp & salmon on the salad was delicious. The short rib tacos were OK. But everything else was just not good. We eat at lots of different ethnic restaurants, and while I understand a lot of items on this menu are Mediterranean, they do not have the spice mixes down right. The potatoes were covered in smoked paprika, and it was completely overwhelming. The seasoning on the Mediterranean skewers was almost unbearable, like they had rolled the skewers in the dry spice before cooking. We will never be returning. It was incredibly expensive, even with half-price tacos on a Tuesday.
Menu has a great selection....literally choices for everyone. We had an out of town group who absolutely loved it. I would highly recommend this for any size group. Service is absolutely fantastic!
I would recommend this restaurant for both locals and out of towners. Great flavors and options from appetizers to desserts and drinks.
We really enjoyed our experience at Fresko. First of all, we appreciate the gluten free options. My husband is severely allergic and finding great restaurants that respect that has been hard to do since we moved from Southern California. Everything we ordered was delicious and seasoned to perfection. We went during the lunch menu. I ordered tuna tartare for my app and my husband ordered the wings. Both apps were really good, the tuna tasted fresh and the wings had a really great subtle yummy sauce. We had the chicken and short rib tacos. We were surprised to get 4 larger tacos for a great price. They were super tasty as well, and the salsa was also really good with a roasted flavor that was unique and so good. We had desert as well, we went all out. The crime brûlée was really good, except it was more like pudding due to the jar used. There seemed to be less burnt topping it was more creamy but still yummy. The gluten free chocolate cake was really good too, not too rich. We had 4 drinks as well and they were all good too. Two cocktails had unique flavors that really came together and a mule. At first the mule wasn’t as flavorful as we were used to. We added lime and stirred and it got better. Overall everything we had was outstanding. It reminded us of the food and dining we were used to in Southern California. We will definitely be back and look forward to trying the dinner menu items.
Sat is in the party room area with a very loud, large party. Hard to have a conversation among our party of four.
Very nice place and great service but the noise level was high enough for us that it made visiting with table mates a little difficult. Age in the 60's so that might have something to do with it. Strange selection of music.
Absolutely amazing food! Fresh food...fresh vibe. I ordered a salad 'to go' early in the week for lunch. Decided we needed to try dinner. It did not disappoint. One of the nightly specials was halibut with a faro risotto. Amazing. We shared a sushi roll as an appetizer. It was just delicious. We split a fresko salad and my husband enjoyed the skirt steak. While skirt steak can sometimes be tough, this was super tender. Portions were large enough that we each took home half after our sushi roll and salads. We will be back!
Loved everything! Our waiter was extremely good....food and drinks were delicious... great atmosphere..... The only negative I would say is that we had reservations for our anniversary and we were kind of stuck back in a corner by where the waiters come in and out....we will definitely be back!
A wonderful way to spend an Easter afternoon. Wonderful food and great service!
Waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable. Food was very good.
The food was incredibly good. The menu had a lot of variety both in options and pricing so it is a place where everyone can feel comfortable.
We had a great time.
Really great food in a cool location. We had a great time
The Fresko Burger was Excellent- One of the best in the area for burgers. Nice spin on the potatoes, not your average fries. Reason food was not a 5 was my wife food was luke warm and the steak sandwich would of been much better with the bread warmed or toasted. Service was great and it's a great atmosphere. Will go here again.- Good drink menu.
Our group had appetizers and mains. Everything was excellent. Short Ribs and Chicken were both excellent. Great veggies with all the meals. Creme Brullee was a big hit with the group.
Food was very good, ambiance is nice, service was great, booth was spacious, lavender lemonade martini a bit sour.
First time eating here. Brunch was fantastic. Tables are spread out well. All staff was masked. The good was excellent. Mixed cocktail Lavender Lemonade was great. Parking was easy on Sunday morning.
Absolutely loved Fresko! My daughters and I ate brunch there on a girls weekend. We loved it so much we went back the next day for brunch again. The staff is excellent. Friendly and attentive (but not overbearing) and very knowledgeable of all the menu items. Everything we had was absolutely delicious and unique. We can personally recommend the Paris Eggs Benedict, Crab Cakes Benedict, Short Rib Skillet, Texas b & g, Hippie, Bonito, Raspberry Mascarpone french toast, mimosas and bloody marys. We will definitely go back. Looking forward to eating dinner there sometime.
We had an excellent meal with attentive service. The atmosphere was energetic and full without feeling overly crowded or unsafe.
We loved this place. Arrived in Des Moines mid afternoon with no plans for dinner. A suggestion from our hotel got us to a 4:45 p.m. reservation . The earliest we have ever had a dinner table! Worth the early dining time was worth the hassle. Wonderful diverse menu, good wine selection , and good staff. Call them several days ahead and get a table. You won't regret it!
First time there! Server explained her favorites and we took her advice. Food was excellent and the service was outstanding. She let us look at the menus for brunch and the food sounds awesome. We will definitely be back!
Overall a nice place to eat for a special occasion. I was excited to try the Wagu and wasn’t disappointed but wasn’t what I expected for the price.
Very good food, very good service. They have a good variety of cocktails and gluten free options. It can get expensive, but if that is what you are looking for, it's worth the money.
Fresko burger was small for $17. Also we were told thta the bowl of fruit wasn't full of cantaloupe when we ordered it. When the bowl arrived, over half of it had cantaloupe.
Such a great menu! We will go over and over again!
We love the food and the menu at Fresko. This was my third time dining there and I have to keep going back until I’ve tried everything on the menu! I split the Temoura Shrimp starter
with my wife and ordered the Seafood Stew for my entree. It was all delicious. The waitstaff has always been super friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend Fresko!
Fresko feels more like the breakfast/lunch counter at a truck stop than a restaurant in a downtown location.
If it weren’t for our server, we would have left.
The design, dysfunction and processed food promoted as farm-to-table summarizes our experience.
Would highly recommend Fresko to anyone wanting a great night out! The service was awesome and the food was even better... We had the Seared Sea Scallops and they were fantastic, but the Sushi Roll we had as an appetizer was unreal!
