Fresco's Waterfront Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The main attraction here is the waterfront setting. The ambiance of being on the water with marina views makes for a pleasant experience. Our service was good—helpful and attentive. The spinach salad was very good. Fish tacos were average and the grilled grouper sandwich was just ok. The grouper was dry—portions were ample. They had no fresh catch of the day—I noticed complaints about this in other reviews. Makes one wonder about freshness of the seafood. Probably best for burgers and sandwiches while enjoying the ambiance.
Our first night in St . Petersburg and Frescoes Waterfront Bistro looked like a fun, casual place where we could relax and enjoy dinner. It did not disappoint. The fish tacos and mahi-mahi sandwich were good. They hit the spot. Side orders of pineapple coleslaw and mashed potatoes were good choices. Key lime pie was tart with a good texture. The chocolate cake was very good but even too big a slice for a chocolate lover.
There was nothing memorable or special about the meal but it was consistently good, service was excellent and I would recommend it. Great location and friendly place.
On this occasion the service was very slow, the food OK (crab cakes for one and a veggie wrap for the other), but the meal was impacted by a bad smell from the marina (clearly not the fault of the restaurant but still disappointing). Having been here previously this odor was not a problem before and service was also much faster.
The service was not good from the moment we got there. The host was nice but extremely slow and sat people way out of order. We had a reservation and we didn't get sat until 30 minutes later. The manager came to help the host and she was extremely rude. Once we finally got sat, we had a great table right on the water. The view was great. The server was nice and was pretty attentive but you could tell she was very busy. The food itself was incredible!! The calamari and lobster bisque were so delicious! If you're willing to wait (even with a reservation), it's worth going.
Worst place I’ve ever been to. I made reservations for my friends birthday we were super excited to eat here. We sat for almost 30 minutes and no one would attend us. People that got there after we did were getting served which made no sense. When we left and let them know all we got was a sorry. Rude people. Horrible service. Don’t plan to go again.
Very disappointed with the interior of the restaurant. In fact they were painting one of the bathrooms while we sat and watched the painter. Had we known the weather would have been good we would have chosen to eat outside. At least you have a view of the water and boats.
While we enjoyed our evening here, it wasn't our best experience at Fresco's. The wait for our food was over 45 minutes which left the majority of our party annoyed and hungry. Luckily all of our dishes came out at the same time unlike the table next to us who kept one guest without food for 15-20 minutes while everyone else at her table had theirs. Hopefully the kitchen can work on that and not get so backed up with tickets.
My martini came almost warm (both times)
They were out of fresh catch (seriously, in a coastal city)
They were out of a seasonal vegetable
They were out of rice so they sent mashed potatoes THAT WERE INSTANT..
music so loud we chose to sit by the noisy giant fan.
Nice looking place but the service was not good. Arrived to wait almost 5 minutes to just be sat down. Even when acknowledged by the staff, we waited awhile. While our food arrived, one of our meals was a mistake and taken back to be exchanged but there was no communication as we waited in silence, uncertain of what just happened. Nice looking staff, small minded staff. The food was not exceptional, just average.
Despite being not recommended by our Hotel and others in St. Pete Fresco proved to be a truly great experience for my wife and myself. Katy was our Server and was she excellent in every aspect of table service. Our food was tasty, properly prepared, and delivered in a timely manner. The drinks were fair, priced reasonably, and made you want a second one because the atmosphere was lovely. We watched numerous sailboats dock trying to escape impending storms and the backdrop of all that activity made the evening even more fun.
I was incredibly disappointed when I made a reservation for my family for before the St Pete Pride parade and the reservation was ignored. Upon arrival I was told they did not accept reservations for the weekend and we were out of luck. It would have been nice to be notified of this before making our plans around this reservation.
First time diners. Picked this restaurant because it is dog friendly. Great view of the boats and inlet. Our server Nick was great. He was friendly, accomodating and patient. Hostess Karen was also very nice. I point this out because a bunch of reviews I read commented on bad service. We almost ruled it out. Guess we got lucky. I had the Grouper sandwich and my wife had Shrimp Scampi. Both were well prepared and tasty. The fish and shrimp seemed fresh and good portions. We added a half house and spinach salad respectively. The salads were an awesome value. My wife commented her spinach salad was one of ths best she's had! Considering we had 2 adult beverages each, we thought $96 with tax and 20% gratuity was a fair deal for a great night out with waterfront dining.
