Meraki(v)... to do something with soul, creativity, or love: to put something of yourself into your work
We have been there before and enjoyed it very much . However , when arriving this visit , we were told there were no seats available in the main dining room ( there were 2 tables for two available ) . They seated us on the ( chilly ) porch at a tiny table . Only upon complaining were we moved inside to an equally tiny table ( 2 foot square ) even though there were two larger ones ( for 2 ) available . We DID have reservations .
We were here last year and it was amazing. So we decided it would be our first stop when we arrived in Cape May. Wish I could say I had the same experience. I should have known something was up when we arrived at 7:00 and the place was empty.....unheard of on a Saturday night. My go to app was the watermelon and feta salad which was excellent! I ordered the filet mignon kabobs which where well, well done and tasteless. By the time we left they had only seated one other table. So sad! I'm hoping this was just a off night but with all the other great restaurants in the area I'm not sure I'll be back.
We have missed the Pier House and are so glad to have them back! ♡
The food was really good and the service was excellent
Dinner was very good. We were seated on the outdoor enclosed porch. Unfortunately, the weather outside was very cold and we needed to drape our coats over our shoulders to stay comfortably warm. In the summer, this seating would have been perfect. Wait staff very attentive but respectful.
Wonderful meal, fabulous atmosphere, great overall experience.
Wonderful as always. Thank you!
Outside of the desserts which were underwhelming (baklava not avaliable and sponge cake ok, cloying rice pudding and dense, not crispy phyllo on top, custard) our party of four was very pleased with out meal. We were warmly welcomed and our server, Ernie, was great. Lamb chops, octopus with lemony salad accompaniments, and calamari were all perfectly cooked and nicely presented. Bronzino was sweet with crispy skin, filet cooked to order was a beautiful piece of meat and shrimp were flavorful. Eh, rice.
Look forward to our return.
Went for Restaurant Week. The choices were amazing. The lamb chop appetizer was excellent. The waitress was helpful and very pleasant. Highly recommend it if you like Greek food.
After making a mistake on our online reservation, hostess Natalie went way out of her way to accommodate us for dinner with multiple calls to make sure we were set. Participating in Cape May's Restaurant Week they offered their entire menu as opposed to a couple selections and everything we had was spectacular!! The Octopus was exceptional along with the other seafood selections and my entrée was their specialty pork chop and it was among the best I have had. I look forward to returning and making this a priority amongst the great restaurants in town. Thanks again.
Good Greek food. Was in cape may went here during resturant week which was a good value. Menu prices are higher on the everyday menu. Overall was a good experience. BYOB
Mythos does not disappoint. Both the food and service are excellent. We just returned from our visit to Greece and Mythos can compete with their wonderful restaurants.
We went for Cape May’s restaurant weekend. Being able to choose any item off the menu was impressive. We enjoyed our evening and would definitely return.
The octopus is a favorite of ours. We enjoyed the whole fish grilled to perfection.
Went here for Restaurant Week with 3 others. I ordered the appetizer of the 4 different dips with the warm pita bread...very good. My entree was the Branzino which was the whole fish. It was tasty but dealing with all of the small bones in the dimly lit dining room was a little bit scary. Overall, I enjoyed it though. It came with sauteed spinach & rice.
Dessert was a Semolina cake soaked in a citrus liquor...very moist & tasty. Wanted the advertised Walnut Cake but our server said it wasn't available.
Would return again. The food was very good. The acoustics are not good & as the evening wore on & more large parties arrived, the sound level was very loud. Also the service suffered as there were not enough servers to handle all of the people in the packed restaurant by this time!
Authentic Greek food. Freshly made in friendly atmosphere. Going back next month.
Great food!! The Calamari and the Halibut were delicious!! The grilled Octopus was so good too! The bread and hummus was so fresh and must be homemade! Of course the Baklava sensational! Our waitress was so friendly and very helpful with answering menu questions! Can’t wait to go back!
My husband and I enjoyed the service and location for a special occasion. The olive oil on the table was wonderful. Nice ethnic food in cape May with relaxed atmosphere. Entree a tad overdone. Overall a wonderful experience.
Our food was excellent and our server Natalia was excellent at her job , gave us just enough time between courses to chat and anticipate our next course! Thank you Mythoe for a fine evening! We will be back
The hostessing could be much better. No one greeted us for 15 minutes and we had a reservation! Restaurant was not full-the hostess was eating! And continued to eat while we were dining. Not good ambience.
My favorite restaurant in cape May! Love this place!
Authentic Greek food, romaine salad with dill, lemon and feta outstanding as was the grilled salmon with spinach, mushrooms, asparagus in lemon sauce over Yukon gold mashed potatoes. Seared scallops appetizer also delicious!
We were big fans of Pier so have followed the family to Franseco's and now MythoE. I truly enjoy the atmosphere even though it is smaller than the original Pier. We had a great waiter-( sorry I forgot his name- tall- semi-long hair pulled back/beard) He was knowledgeable & showed great pride for the meal he was going to serve. My appetizer- grilled octopus was one I will never forget. I might order it as an entree next time, it was sooo good! There were 4 of us in the party & each person raved about the food.
My entree was a tender roasted pork chop adorned with roasted potatoes and spinach. I have a garlic allergy so they prepared my meal w/o to help with my request.
My friend had the veal or pork shank--not sure which one but it was tender and mouth watering. We all ordered the baklava, a different version that what I usually make but extremely delicious---stacked with crushed pistachio, walnuts and almonds---so moist and tasty.
This is a restaurant that never fails the taste buds----highly recommend it! Best Greek food in the area!
Perfect. Great menu and flavorings.
Had the sword fish. Very over cooked. Lousy for $26 dinner
Always a great evening at Mytho€! We love the atmosphere and the food is fresh and very Mediterranean! The watermelon and feta salad is so different and so delicious. We also enjoyed the Greek salad, spicy shrimp and my husband loves the grilled octopus. Staff is always friendly and service is great!
This was our first experience at Mythos and we will definitely be back. The food and service were excellent. The noise level is moderate but conversation is definitely possible.
We have loved this place in the past, but our dinner the other night was way below their standards. The appetizers were fine: I got the octopus and my wife got a basic salad with cukecumbers, feta and dill... delicious really. But then the mains were disappointing .... my wife's chicken kabob thingy was ok, but my lamb shank was the real downer. I've had it before, several times, and it was absolutely delicious. The waiter then had described it as having been marinated for days and it was fall off the bone wonderful. But this last one was dried out, a bit chewy, and basically tasteless... I really hope the kitchen can pull it together soon, because we love having this option of dining, and really miss The Pier House!!
Best watermelon salad ever!!!
We had a wonderful first meal at Mythos and will surely return. The only minor adjustment is that we would request a little less salt on the lamb meatballs which were otherwise very tasty. I had the swordfish which was very nicely seasoned and beautifuly presented.
Food was very good and our server was excellent. Wish I had known that the restaurant was byob because the food would have been even better with a little wine!
The chef is the key. Wherever he goes we go. The octopus is the best.
Our dinner was very enjoyable. Our server could have checked in more frequently but other than that the service was fine. We will definitely return to this restaurant.
Second visit during my brief visit in the neighborhood. The hummus with calamata olives is a wonderful prelude while reviewing the menu. Began with the romaine salad which was a generous opening portion with just the right amount of feta. My entree was the shrimp saganaki, a perfect use of just popped tiny tomatoes and wilted spinach. Completed my meal with coffee and a baklava. The attentive and pleasant waiter in the front room on a stormy night made for a charming dining experience.
First time there. The food and service were both outstanding! Would highly recommend!
We really enjoyed our meal here! Each dish we ordered was artfully prepared and delicious-we wiped all of our plates clean! Our only suggestion would be to have more vegetarian (no meat or fish) friendly options.
We love this place for solid, reliable and delicious Greek food. The apps are amazing, especially the calamari, octopus and watermelon salad.
Disappointing service, food not prepared correctly
We're love Mythos! Traditional Greek food that is absolutely delicious!
This restaurant was decent. The location and ambiance was nice and the service was average, nothing over the top. We got the 4 dips sampler for an appetizer and that was probably the best thing we ate all night. I split my meal with my sister, which was the greek style bolognese pasta with a pepper, and they were nice enough to split the entree into two dishes, however, my sisters dish was VERY spicy while mine wasn't spicy at all ... maybe her pepper just had more of a bite to it or they added spice and didn't mix it well enough, I'm not sure. My husband got the shrimp dish and the shrimp was over cooked and tasted like freezer burn. My mom got the lamb shank and it was very tender and delicious according to her. Overall this isn't a bad spot for dinner if no other places have availability and it's BYOB so that's a plus.
