private parties Come FRENCHY'S what the buzz is all about !
Great food in a friendly quiet atmosphere . Our second time there and both were superb. It was half off wine night so that was a real treat . Foie Gras terrine and escargots were fantastic! Excellent filet of beef and red snapper.
We are looking forward to our next dinner there !
It’s a small, but elegant place with a lovely owner/chef who is very attentive to the guests. Food was excellent, wine list has something good for everyone. We’ve enjoyed it a lot and will return when we’re back in the neighborhood. Best wishes to Edith to get through this unfortunate period of necessary closures.
Great food and wine...we enjoyed our “date” night, including meeting our chef and host.
A gem and a find! All wonderful!
Food was too salty and menu pretty limited
This is our go to restaurant. It is romantic quiet and unique. The service and the food is exceptional.
Very good food even if there were with few choices.Very nice ambience and service
Surprisingly expensive for the location. Need a better location for a $200 dinner. They were out of many menu items. Duck was amazing. Coq au vin good. Soup delicious as was fois gras.
We liked it. Wanted to love it but didn’t.
Thank you for your visit. You didn't eat for $200. You ate $149,80 worth which included a bottle of Pinot Noir for $45. You chose a 2 course menu with soup and coq vin $30 your guest chose soup, foie gras en terrine, and duck magret $58. Total food $88, we are far from $200. When you came at 9pm we ran out of onion soup and beef bourguignon. No frozen food here. I don t know why you talk about the location for the price? Some restaurants are further west, and are more expensive then Frenchy's T.
We had a lovely server and the owner came over multiple times to check on us! Simply amazing food!
Amazing food cooked by the very interesting owner. Most interesting to us was her escargot Provencal but everything else was wonderful as well. Tuesday half price wine!
Frenchys was amazing. The food was super flavorful, the restaurant was very cozy and intimate. And our server was great. I didn't catch her name but she just started a week ago a believe. In addition to her, Alex was great. He was very attentive and sweet. The entire wait staff was great. I will definitely be back and I'd absolutely recommend you visiting.
The food was delicious, although the pricing on the menu was rather confusing! Think they need to re-think this. The restaurant is small and feels more like a cafe. The service was slow, but overall we enjoyed it.
Thank you for coming at Frenchys' and your good review.Actually all guests like the menu because they understood is flexible with 3 choices of price. a bientot et merci Englisrose
Wow! A little slice of France in Lauderdale by the sea!
Merci frank, hope I see you soon at Frenchys!!!
This review is not 5 stars but I definitely recommend Frenchy's and we will return. Edith, Owner and Chef, is really outstanding. She personally attends each table making sure things are as you like them to be. I start by saying this is a very small restaurant with some 10-12, 4 and 2 chair tables inside plus 3 more outside. We reserved for 8pm on a Sat night and had a very short wait outside with a complimentary glass of Champagne. There is a small staff of four (4) including Edith and (1) cook in the kitchen, so a waitress and a bus boy. Our waitress was very nice (sorry but I cant recall her name) and the bus boy was, well inexperienced. I know it is hard to find good help. We did have to wait quite a bit to get our order placed but we weren't in a hurry and the place was full, we were about the second to last to enter. My wife and I ordered the 3 course Duck Meal and we enjoyed it very much, along with a very nice French Pinot Noir. The appetizers were a shared green salad and Farmers basket with duck pate, assorted meats, brie, pickles and grain mustard. Very nice. Portions were ample. The main course of roasted duck breast came sliced with a sweet grape topping, some potatoes au gratin, and steamed green beans. The duck was tender and the sauce not overbearing. For desert we shared a trio of chocolate mousse, crème brulee, and a panna cotta. Everything was made fresh in house.
So why not 5 stars? The service was slow but to be expected given the size and small staff on a busy Sat Night. It is a bit like eating in a private home. While very pleased with the food quality my wife and I agreed the duck was missing a bit of flavor, could be something as simple as a bit of salt and pepper, but I resist adding more salt to my food, but again, easily resolved with a shaker.
We will return and would like to try some other offers that Edith has. Fish Dishes, rack of lamb, boeuf bourguignon, and of course the deserts! Bon Appetit
Thank you for you good and detail review! We prepared fresh food every day even during the service, sometimes take more time...and also the french tradition is" take your time"!!!! A BIENTOT Flyingman
Let me start by saying it was Valentines Day. I know this is generally a pretty busy day with big crowds, which is why we chose this cute, quaint, and limited seating restaurant, not to mention that the menu looked fabulous, it received great reviews and every day we walk by it on our way to the beach we say we’re going to try it. Perfect, right? Nothing could be farther from the truth. They completely overextended themselves by setting up 10 additional tables outside and charged $95 a person plus tax and tip, for a fixed menu, which we didn’t know about until we were seated. As a result, they couldn’t handle the crowd. It took for ever to get seated with a reservation, the wait staff was so inexperienced and the chef/owner was running around like crazy. The water glasses smelled, we had lipstick markings on our plastic champagne glasses from the previous patrons and people all around us were complaining, some foregoing their dessert because they couldn’t take it any more, the table next to us called out the chef because of how long it was taking to get their food. The employees and the chef actually blamed everything on Open Table and said they couldn’t stop the reservations from coming in. Not buying it. Had they stayed true to themselves and not tried to take advantage of couples going out for a nice date night we know we would have enjoyed it better because even with a very long wait, poor service, and a pricey fixed menu, overall we were very pleased with the quality of the food. Bottom line, don’t get greedy (profit over customer experience). And, the chef needs to stay in the kitchen and find a person who can run the restaurant for her. She clearly can’t do both.
People say don’t go out on Valentine’s Day for dinner and we should have listened. They over booked, over charged for one of the worst dining experiences to date,
Total chaos. We arrived and were seated and our order was taken. 20 mins one of our appetizers was served. We waited another 10 minutes and multiple requests for the second appetizer before it arrived. No ability to order wine as the food runner couldn’t take an order. Finally the waiter shows back up after we were done with our appetizers and collects plates. We ask to order wine and we wait. Our steaks were served with the wine and the steaks were so over cooked they were barely edible. To top it off they were cold and smattered in some sauce so we couldn’t tell they they had been precooked. I get it was Valentine’s Day but we were the first seating at the restaurant. Owner was too unorganized to handle a mediocre crowd. Not even on a slow day would I want their poor service and sub par food.
Consistently excellent food and personal service. Not to be missed
French? Not the decor or ambiance. I made 8:15 pm reservations, got there 30 minutes earlier. So I sat outside in the car till 8:10 pm, because there is no place to wait and have a drink or sit. At about 8:30 pm, I asked for an update on my table, and they said they still didn't have one avaliable. They asked if I could eat outside. My reservations were specifically for an "indoor" table, since it was a cold and rainy day early February. I waited till about 8:45pm, and asked again. They said I needed to wait because there were still no tables. At this point, I asked what was the purpose of reservations, if they were not going to honor them (they blamed opentable) I even had to ask for water (which they later charged me for), yes, after waiting in the cold for over 1 hrs 30 minutes, they charged me the water. I was finally brought in, well after 9pm. If it wasn't because it would have been too late to go anywhere else decent around there, I would have left. Ruined our date night.
The food was bland at best. Rack of lamb quality was supermarket bought quality and my homemade grilled lamb tastes better. The fish was tasteless, the only thing that was a bit tasteful was the potatoes au gratin (I think that's what they were). The deserts were, again, just ok. They gave me a free cappuccino, which was basically, coffee with some milk and watery. I don't mind paying for food and service that is good, but for the busboy, the service was not good either. I had to refill the water glasses every single time on our own, and the waiter kept forgetting things (it was only 2 of us). The poor busboy was more attentive and communicated how sorry he was several times. I am not sure how others can compare this to a cafe or restaurant in France. The decor is as bland as the food. I do not recommend. I hope others have better luck than I did.
First time to the restaurant and it could be our new favorite
Food and service were excellent
I will recommend this to our friends who enjoy good food.
The best French food I've have ever eaten, and I lived in Paris France.
Friendly server. Foos and value terrific! Will be back
Our favorite restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale, and always cause for celebration. This time we enjoyed duck and Beef Bourguignon. Beautiful spot. Special when Frenchy herself is there.
What a pleasant surprise...a perfect combination of very good food, great friendly service and good value in one neighborhood gem! Classic onion soup and chicken liver pate as appetizers were both delicious. Beef bourguignon was also very good but portion was rather small for an entree. The trout almandine was scrumptious even if the creamy sauce was a tad heavy. Will definitely be back.
Really enjoyed this delightful small quiet restaurant!
Would definitely recommend and return.
Wonderful surprise. Found a treasure.
Thank you Marty, I m glad you enjoyed the new treasure ! a bientôt Edith
We had an amazing experience at FRENCHY’S! The food was delicious, the service impeccable, and the ambiance was perfect. We will definitely go back!
thank you very much for this excellent review!see you soon MERCI Edith
Excellent tout est fait maison et en quantité abondante une excellente table avec un service personnalisé
Back After about nine months and had an excellent meal started with French onion soup pear salad then on to beef bourguignon Trout Amandine .And .save room for dessert because the crème brûlée is out of this world a great place great food for and We will be back really enjoyed it
Merci Mentzie for coming back at Frenchys and share your good experience a bientôt Edith
The escargot appetizer was the best my family ever had and they were in rapture over the sauce. The entrees unfortunately left a lot to be desired. The sea bass was small but adequate but with way too much thick oil on top. The steak poivre was a horrible cut that was tough and terrible. The duck was not good either with the sauce a bad taste. It's a shame as it is a very sympathetic and quaint place.
Diane Did you think is fair?First you come in complain about the music/ light/ cold /door open. You order Seabass with veg you knew this fish is fat by is texture? We didn't cook with oil.You ate everything 2 gentlemen with you did the same .I didn't have port wine I offered nicely a little shot of Madeira, you never mention anything like the food was a shame! you have to think about your description when you wrote, sometimes is not appropriate. 2 ** between 5***** before and after you....Weirde!
Consitently fabulous. Service was was excellent, and the variety of dishes was very nice.
Thank you very much to share your good experience at Frenchys!A bientôt Edith
What a find. We'll be back soon. The escargot was scrumptious! I had the whole fish branzino and it was delicious, but I saw that others had different fish and I'll try that next time for sure. The service was wonderful. We had the most delightful server.... she was a dear and so personable. Edith (the owner) was very welcoming also.
finally a restaurant that has a table d'hôte (3 services ) For 45 $ you have an appetizer, the main meal and the dessert. I didn’t expect such high quality. Worthy of a French restaurant ... My husband had the shrimp salad which had a good quantity and I the Provencal snails which was more than exquisite! for the main meal I had the scallop puff pastry and my husband the duck breast.
The desserts were just as delicious. My only regret is that I forgot to take photos! I didn’t expect to see such great quality ... and what about the friendliness of the server and the owner ... such great friendliness that unfortunately this kind of person is on the verge of extinction in Florida. I highly recommend this restaurant
A wonderful small perfect restaurant. More restaurants could take their clues from frenchys
My husband and I love this cute little restaurant. The owner is very hands on and friendly. The food is great as well. It’s always a treat coming here.
The food was outstanding and employees made you feel at home.
Excellent as always! Edith’s duck is to die for, and here potatoes are fabulous.
Best little gem in the area. Really fresh exquisite food. Everything was fantastic. Sorry it took us so long to try it. We will become regulars now.
