A cool neighborhood boite: casual &; creative French cuisine with a twist. Steak, eggs & wine; a seemingly atypical combination of dinner and breakfast but pure deliciousness on the plate and in the glass. We seek out, transform and serve “naturel” ingredients. We serve meats, seafood and produce, wines, beers and ciders as natural as can be found. Our service, amiable and kind. We accept reservations and walk-ins are also welcome!
Hang your hat, pull up a stool, have a drink and taste true joie de vivre.
Dinner every night, Brunch every weekend.
Roof deck dining and outdoor café seating.
A Votre Sante, Cheers
This location had an interesting menu; however, the wait staff and hostess turned me off almost immediately upon walking into the location.
I liked the interior, it was funky which was nice; however, there was not great vibe in the space. Given that there was only one other table on the same level as us for dinner, we felt forgotten and when the servers did come back to the floor (despite there being people at the far end bar) it appeared to be a chore.
The food was OK - nothing really remarkable. They tried to sell some sort of "experience" with unlimited fries, but I still have no idea what that was.
I will not be returning to this location, and strongly recommend anyone else to critically think about eating here.
Quaint and stylish. Service was excellent. I had a Frenchy's cheeseburger deluxe with an order of the Beef fat fries. It was delicious! Well seasoned and tender enough. Especially, since I had it cooked well. Also loved the touch of Rosemary with the fries. I will definitely be back to try their brunch. Super excited.
I want to like this place so much but I can’t. Live nearby and used to frequent the Bird often. It did not surprise me they were making a shift as the quality went down. Today I went to Brunch. My second time in 2 months and sadly the service was not great. We waited about 10 minutes to get water. Our host was apologetic as we were missing a water glass but it still took another 10 minutes to get the glass filled. Everyone around us had no food on the table and the servers looked tired and sweaty. When my food arrived it was semi warm and the poached egg was hard on my friend chicken Benedict. I understand brunch can get busy and expediting gets off but you expect a 30 minute delay to give you a perfectly cooked poached egg. I really hope they fix their service issues because it used to be a neighborhood gem!
Great food, a little pricey, service was slow.
Manager was incredibly kind but the wait staff was fighting at our table and we didn’t get one of our plates.
The food was overpriced and not good. The steak was probably one of the worst I’ve ever had and the service was horrible. Never returning. The only thing going for this place is the decor and that it also has outdoor seating.
Charming ambiance, great food and cocktails, warm (but not intrusive!) service
Good selection of farm to table style food, very cute atmosphere.
Great good and awesome service. Didn’t know what to expect but I will def go back
Lots of problems. Google shows The Bird’s menu online, new staff and they need some major training our waitress in particular was pretty bad, salads are super salty, apple dessert was too caramelized, just a miss all around.
Winner. Winner. Chicken Breakfast! Delicious food, charming service, upbeat atmosphere, and many reasons to go back. Three of us enjoyed delightful meals including the apple beignets, the fried chicken eggs benedict, the hearty breakfast sandwich, and goat cheese omelette. Not for the fats fearful. Can’t wait to return!
Charming environment in a nice space. A D.C. row home with an artistic look gave the place a comfortable feel. As for the food it was great with a more modern french style. We had plates of eggs Benedict, deviled eggs and croque Madame. Drinks were good food was great.
If you were hoping for "bottomless fries" as we were, I think if it wasn't a packed Friday evening, we would have had more fries than desired. However, we were disappointing to only having a few individual bowls of fries sent to us towards the end of the evening. I would suggest if time was an issue, they could just send one large plate of fries for the table. Still, a great place to eat with a group!
Our server made the evening. She was outstanding!
Excellent service and food. Steaks cooked to perfection. Would definitely come back.
Good food, attentive service, and a funky French vibe. The poutine was excellent
Had a wonderful time with some out of town guests. The apple beignets were the perfect option to share and everyone was pleased with their meal. We sat in the enclosed upstairs patio which I didn't know existed, but was a great option due to the rain.
Overall, it was "ok". With so many good restaurants in DC, this isn't a place I'd recommend anytime soon. Brunch menu options were unimpressive. Service was fine. Food was pretty good. Very limited wine list.
Awesome birthday dinner with friends! Staff were friendly and attentive, honestly so appreciated in DC! Food hit the spot and cooked perfectly! Thank you Frenchys! Will definitely be back!
Frenchy's Naturel is trying to do two things at once: Fancy French Cuisine, and Steak Frites with salad a la Medium Rare. On the whole it does a decent job doing both. And I would recommend it, at least to try once. However, if you're specifically craving either of those things, I might suggest going elsewhere. There aren't too many classic French dishes (though that was fine for me since I wasn't looking to eat say Bouillabaisse). And while they have more choices of meats than Medium Rare, you do pay for the options.
Furthermore, one disappointment was that the "bottomless" French fries have to be reordered proactively. Even though my fiancee and I ordered the mixed grill for two (which truly was delicious), we only were given a single helping of fries to start. Also, maybe it truly was a coincidence, but as soon as our main course arrived it did seem like our waiter disappeared, as if they knew we'd want more fries. Maybe that's paranoid, but we did have to track down a waitress to reorder, and by the time it came we were completley done with our meats. So I would recommend reordering fries as soon as possible.
We did get the cheese plate for dessert, and that was quite delicious too. But that wasn't a surprise since everything to that point had been delicious.
Bottom line: Worth trying, though if it was 10% cheaper we'd like it 30% more.
We have been meaning to trying Frenchy's for some time and are really glad we went in. The food is made with very fresh ingredients and is not heavy hand-handed with sauces. The service was great, from the front door to the finish. Highly recommend!
Great neighborhood feel. Food was great. Loved sitting outside on warm early evening while sun went down. Very flexible as we added another person last minute. Service was just right, there when needed but not too much. Would definitely go back again. Onion rings with truffles-so good.
A great place with great food. Highly recommended!
Good French food, mediocre cocktails, much more expensive than it has any right to be.
Food was good. The special (beef stroganoff) was delicious. Def recommend that if it's on the menu. Steak was pretty good, burger was also good, really buttery. Service was really really slow. We had a round of drinks, split a bottle of wine, and each got a entree and overall the dinner lasted 2.5 hours. Prob should have been more like 90 mins. Wasn't that busy.
It was a quiet Sunday evening at Frenchy’s. Service was attentive. Food was delicious! We tried crispy artichoke, cheese fromage and shared (for two) the 12Oz Rib-eye steak. Also shared a glass of red wine. Had a little leftover to pack home, perhaps one appetizer would be enough for next time. Price was in a higher end, it was around $80 for two people. Will recommend for quality food.
Completely mediocre with premium prices. It won’t last.
Nice dining option for a family where a kids menu and some crayons go a long way. Server was attentive, but the kitchen seemed really slow despite it being a quiet weeknight. Food was all delicious.
Definitely will be back! The staff was super attentive and helpful and the food was great! Just wish the weather was nicer so we could have enjoyed the patio...
Great food. Very helpful staff were willing to make some substitutions for members of our party who were avoiding some ingredients. Reasonably priced. Not too crowded.
We started with the onion rings which were delish! Then my boyfriend, Dylan, got the cheeseburger and I got the salmon. Dylan said the cheeseburger was one of the best burgers he's ever had! The salmon was good but not the best I have ever had; it was a small portion of salmon, the skin was still on, and not a lot of flavor. The entrees come with bottomless fries but we were never asked if we wanted more fries so I just opted for a single serving since I finished my small portion of salmon within a few bites. Our server then brings out the dessert menu and lets us know that they are in stock of everything except the apple pie dessert so we ordered the chocolate de crème...10 minutes later we learn that they sold out of that too so they offered us creme brulee on the house...we'll take it! :) I'm glad I tried Frenchy's Naturel and I would return but I wouldn't make this a regular spot because it is too expensive.
The kitchen and bar couldn’t keep up with the volume of the restaurant. Our server was very gracious, but getting a cocktail took 30 minutes and it came after we finished our apps.
Great change from The Bird. Overall the food prices are much higher than one would expect for french bistro food. Hopefully that levels out since it is a more casual place.
Excellent food, friendly service. I had the apple beignets and fried chicken benedict, and everything was very good.
Haran and Edward gave us excellent service at the bar, guiding us through the new menu and “natural wine” selection to a delicious and relaxing meal.
Wednesday evening dinner with friends. Food is great. The steaks are to die for (we ordered the mixed grill for two). Appetizers are decent, but not worth discussing here in any detail. Service is friendly and prompt. My only gripe is with the wine list. It is extremely limited, and the choice of reds in particular is not very appealing.
My daughter and I had a Mommy daughter date and we both loved it. The Fromage was amazing, especially the pickled spicy green grapes, which my daughter hogged because she loved them that much with the chees and bread. The decor and ambience was super cute and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. I will be back the next time I am in DC.
Business dinner for three. Comfortable seating upstairs and easy to carry on a conversation. The service was friendly, attentive, unobtrusive and complete. The French-American bistro menu does not overwhelm with choices yet has a good selection of traditional bistro dishes. There is nothing “fancy” about the food except for the high quality ingredients, excellence of preparation, and overall simplicity. If I lived in this neighborhood I know I would return frequently and find several comfortable favorite dishes. Our drinks were excellent as well. Good value as well. Truly excellent pommes frites in endless supply. I will be back.
Pros: service was very good
Cons: limited wine list, food wasn't prepared as ordered by most everyone in the large party and at least one dish had to be sent back.
This was a weird space as the The Bird and is likewise now.
