A cool neighborhood boite: casual &; creative French cuisine with a twist. Steak, eggs & wine; a seemingly atypical combination of dinner and breakfast but pure deliciousness on the plate and in the glass. We seek out, transform and serve “naturel” ingredients. We serve meats, seafood and produce, wines, beers and ciders as natural as can be found. Our service, amiable and kind. We accept reservations and walk-ins are also welcome!
Hang your hat, pull up a stool, have a drink and taste true joie de vivre.
Dinner every night, Brunch every weekend.
Roof deck dining and outdoor café seating.
A Votre Sante, Cheers
Burger was great!
That was the weirdest dining experience I've had in a long time. The food came out at random times; the cheese plate did not have the cheese that our waitress said it would; the drinks took 40 minutes to arrive; the servers kept trying to take away our plates when they still had food on them. Oh - and they had no idea how to make a Kir Royale. A Kir Royale! A drink that originated in FRANCE, and is made with just two ingredients! What?! Just odd, odd, odd. The food itself was fine, but after waiting for forever for anything to arrive, we just wanted to get out of there. Ugh. Would not recommend, and will not go back.
I absolutely love coming here. Amazing happy hour that is every day of the week and includes the patio. Bonus they allow dogs on their patio and were so nice - even gave my bb a big bowl of water and a treat. Food is also great - the steaks are always cooked to perfection and the deviled eggs are a good app/happy hour small plate. If you get the burger on happy hour it is an awesome deal. My only complaint is that it was a bit busy and so our drinks came a little late but that said the drinks are great - the rose sangria, eldeflower old fashioned, and frenchie's sparkling drinks are some of my favorites. My new go to place any day of the week this summer.
Everything thing was great the bartender who was also the waiter did great
The back/upper patio has a gorgeous view of the neighborhood and nice evening light. The happy hour options are delicious (and cheap) and the cocktails were delectable.
Such an amazing neighborhood vibe! The food is great and the service is superb!
Our service was spectacular and we loved the atmosphere, but everyone in our group was disappointed in the food. The waffles were soggy and flavorless , and the burger was burnt. Even when I asked for it to be cooked medium rare, I received it burnt on the outer side. I had to scrap it away.
The staff were great and so were the food (esp. brunch) and drinks. Definitely recommend dining upstairs and on the terrace.
Brunch was delicious and very friendly staff! Would go back!
The steak was mediocre and a rat ran under our table as well as other tables and into a bush. Service was not great with not a lot of check-ins. Fries are tasty!
Just over all, not a great experience. Makes me miss The Bird!
Waited for 30 mins past our reservation time to be seated. Then once we were seated we were not greeted or even provided water for almost 10 mins. After waiting that long we were frustrated and no one seemed to care or even apologize for any delays or anything.
My friends and I had never been here and don't really venture out of our quadrant. We loved this place, the food, and the ambience was great for a birthday brunch. We will all be back!
I’ll never come back here. The food is unbelievably overpriced, the service was terrible (it took us 45 minutes to get drinks and another hour to get our entrees) and the food was just okay. Not worth the time or money
It's a very low key fun place. Good food and great, attentive service.
Plenty of outdoor seating. Enjoyed rooftop patio very much. Service great except hosting seemed frazzled and reported me a no show to open table! Maybe just short staffed.
Been a few times under the new ownership and absolutely love the menu, ambiance, and overall vibe. I invited my book club to the restaurant and they said they were ready to return the next day for brunch (that's how awesome the experience was).
The bartender, Eddie, provided exceptional service and tasty drinks for our table.
Loved the mimosa bar and the food was excellent. Omelette was perfectly cooked and the beignets were to die for.
Nice cocktails, great burgers and steaks, and amazing veggies (artichokes, peas). The rooftop setup is lovely, and we had great service. We'll definitely be back.
We could not have had a better time for happy hour and then stayed for dinner! Our patio server Christina was gregarious and helpful and then when we moved inside the dream team of Ed and Tony worked there magic and gave us one of the nicest dinner experiences. Would highly recommend !!
The meat was quite tough to cut and to chew. When you are a French Bistro with steak frites, the steak should be better.
This location had an interesting menu; however, the wait staff and hostess turned me off almost immediately upon walking into the location.
I liked the interior, it was funky which was nice; however, there was not great vibe in the space. Given that there was only one other table on the same level as us for dinner, we felt forgotten and when the servers did come back to the floor (despite there being people at the far end bar) it appeared to be a chore.
The food was OK - nothing really remarkable. They tried to sell some sort of "experience" with unlimited fries, but I still have no idea what that was.
I will not be returning to this location, and strongly recommend anyone else to critically think about eating here.
Quaint and stylish. Service was excellent. I had a Frenchy's cheeseburger deluxe with an order of the Beef fat fries. It was delicious! Well seasoned and tender enough. Especially, since I had it cooked well. Also loved the touch of Rosemary with the fries. I will definitely be back to try their brunch. Super excited.
I want to like this place so much but I can’t. Live nearby and used to frequent the Bird often. It did not surprise me they were making a shift as the quality went down. Today I went to Brunch. My second time in 2 months and sadly the service was not great. We waited about 10 minutes to get water. Our host was apologetic as we were missing a water glass but it still took another 10 minutes to get the glass filled. Everyone around us had no food on the table and the servers looked tired and sweaty. When my food arrived it was semi warm and the poached egg was hard on my friend chicken Benedict. I understand brunch can get busy and expediting gets off but you expect a 30 minute delay to give you a perfectly cooked poached egg. I really hope they fix their service issues because it used to be a neighborhood gem!
Great food, a little pricey, service was slow.
Manager was incredibly kind but the wait staff was fighting at our table and we didn’t get one of our plates.
The food was overpriced and not good. The steak was probably one of the worst I’ve ever had and the service was horrible. Never returning. The only thing going for this place is the decor and that it also has outdoor seating.
Charming ambiance, great food and cocktails, warm (but not intrusive!) service
Good selection of farm to table style food, very cute atmosphere.
Great good and awesome service. Didn’t know what to expect but I will def go back
Lots of problems. Google shows The Bird’s menu online, new staff and they need some major training our waitress in particular was pretty bad, salads are super salty, apple dessert was too caramelized, just a miss all around.
Winner. Winner. Chicken Breakfast! Delicious food, charming service, upbeat atmosphere, and many reasons to go back. Three of us enjoyed delightful meals including the apple beignets, the fried chicken eggs benedict, the hearty breakfast sandwich, and goat cheese omelette. Not for the fats fearful. Can’t wait to return!
Charming environment in a nice space. A D.C. row home with an artistic look gave the place a comfortable feel. As for the food it was great with a more modern french style. We had plates of eggs Benedict, deviled eggs and croque Madame. Drinks were good food was great.
If you were hoping for "bottomless fries" as we were, I think if it wasn't a packed Friday evening, we would have had more fries than desired. However, we were disappointing to only having a few individual bowls of fries sent to us towards the end of the evening. I would suggest if time was an issue, they could just send one large plate of fries for the table. Still, a great place to eat with a group!
Our server made the evening. She was outstanding!
Excellent service and food. Steaks cooked to perfection. Would definitely come back.
Good food, attentive service, and a funky French vibe. The poutine was excellent
Had a wonderful time with some out of town guests. The apple beignets were the perfect option to share and everyone was pleased with their meal. We sat in the enclosed upstairs patio which I didn't know existed, but was a great option due to the rain.
Overall, it was "ok". With so many good restaurants in DC, this isn't a place I'd recommend anytime soon. Brunch menu options were unimpressive. Service was fine. Food was pretty good. Very limited wine list.
Awesome birthday dinner with friends! Staff were friendly and attentive, honestly so appreciated in DC! Food hit the spot and cooked perfectly! Thank you Frenchys! Will definitely be back!
Frenchy's Naturel is trying to do two things at once: Fancy French Cuisine, and Steak Frites with salad a la Medium Rare. On the whole it does a decent job doing both. And I would recommend it, at least to try once. However, if you're specifically craving either of those things, I might suggest going elsewhere. There aren't too many classic French dishes (though that was fine for me since I wasn't looking to eat say Bouillabaisse). And while they have more choices of meats than Medium Rare, you do pay for the options.
Furthermore, one disappointment was that the "bottomless" French fries have to be reordered proactively. Even though my fiancee and I ordered the mixed grill for two (which truly was delicious), we only were given a single helping of fries to start. Also, maybe it truly was a coincidence, but as soon as our main course arrived it did seem like our waiter disappeared, as if they knew we'd want more fries. Maybe that's paranoid, but we did have to track down a waitress to reorder, and by the time it came we were completley done with our meats. So I would recommend reordering fries as soon as possible.
We did get the cheese plate for dessert, and that was quite delicious too. But that wasn't a surprise since everything to that point had been delicious.
Bottom line: Worth trying, though if it was 10% cheaper we'd like it 30% more.
