FRENCH ROTISSERIE CAFE
Excellent service and delicious food! Very quaint inside. We will definitely go back and try other entries.
We are frequent dinners at French Rotisserie in La Quinta. We have not been to their new location in Palm Desert. They have never failed to impress. This trip I had the Vol-au-Vent aux Fruits de Mer and my wife had the Vol-au-Vent à la Forestière. I preferred my dish but I love seafood.
What a pleasant surprise. We went because of the high OpenTable rating, and it was a real find. This was a downtown quality restaurant located in a small suburban shopping center. Great food, service and nicely priced. We would definitely go again
We were disappointed in this visit. We've always had good experiences and great food before, but this week (with out of town guests) not so. The salmon came without rice and with a big ;pile of greasy, charred brussels sprouts leaves. The chicken was dry. It appeared that there wasn't enough kitchen help because each visit to our table seemed to be from a different server. We WILL come back..... maybe we just hit a bad night, but it wasn't an outstanding experience as it has been before.
Nice hidden gem ten minutes from our condo - what a fantastic find. The atmosphere was amazing - felt like we had been transported to a small French cafe. We had the escargot and french onion soup as starters followed by the halibut and scallops for our entres - everything was really good. The only negative was that the service was a little slow - but we were enjoying the wine and our surroundings so it wasn't a big deal. We will certainly be going back to this lovely spot.
Onion soup appears to have been microwaved rather than heated under a broiler which made the cheese on top gooey,
Scallops were tasteless. Service was disorganized.
Won’t be back.
The restaurant is pretty and the service was great. The food was a disappointment to me and my friends. It was pretty tasteless
Too bad
This has become one of our favorite restaurants in La Quinta. We eat there once a week now. The food is fabulous, true French cuisine. We have been to Paris numerous times. This little bistro takes us back to some very fond memories. I hope it’s a success.
Cute restaurant in a small space. The staff was friendly. The escargot appetizer was served in the shell and arrived at the table very hot and could not be handled in a timely manner. My spouse's chicken soup was average, our guest had the halibut entrée which was very good. I certainly will give the restaurant another try because the service was good.
Overall the starters and main courses were very good; the duck was ok. The sides (Brussels sprouts and potatoes) were delicious! Very attentive service. Reasonable wine list with good options.
Will definitely be back!
Excellently food and service. Owner very friendly; stopped by our table for a short visit.
We ordered the HobNob Chardonnay and the Red from this winery were from from France, but the Chardonnay was from California which seemed odd. On questioning the young assistant said she who get back to us and the senior waitress said the menu was wrong, that in fact it was from France. Upon tasting it and the fact it had a screw cap we knew the menu was right. It was aCalifornia Chardonnay. It was a great CA chardonnayfor the price. Other than this hiccup, this were above OK. We’ll return is the bottom line. I
We ate outside on a beautiful, warm evening. Our server was friendly and engaging. I am a sucker for salad dressing with tarragon, so the goat cheese salad was the ticket. Perfectly sized for us to share, and the greens, candied pecans, goat cheese and fresh chopped raw green beans made for a beautiful and interesting salad. The ahi tuna appetizer was tasty, and with 8 or 10 slices of tuna on the plate, the portion was larger than other restaurants. The large sea scallops were fresh and cooked perfectly - again the portion size was larger than we have had in other places (4 instead of 3), so it was good value for the money. My bouef bourgignon was perfect. Finished the meal with killer chocolate mousse. We brought our own wine (a normal $20 corkage fee) to round out a great experience for a reasonable price.
Both entrees, chicken and duck overcooked. Duck was ordered medium rare. Came well done. Chicken dry.
Wonder why $2.50 extra for anchovies on a Caesar salad when they are part of a Caesar salad.
When waitress asked how the food was I said the duck was overcooked. No comment from owner who was on premises.
Will not return and will not recommend.
What a find! Hiding in a strip mall in a tiny store front we found some of the best and most authentic country French food outside of France. All dishes with chicken are featured and rightly so. The appetizers are also delicious as was the chocolate mousse. Make a reservation- all tables occupied even in a Tuesday night.
They must have overbooked. Our evening started out great but then the jammed in a 6 top next to us so we had to move. The server became flustered and our service went south. We may try one more time but the bill far exceeded the quality this time.
Average food and restaurant. The steak frites ordered medium rare was well done. The fries were good. Beet salad was also good but really large. Staff all seemed new and were having trouble with the menu and service. Hope they hit their stride in the future.
This is our first year of being in the LaQuinta area and we are very happy to have found this little gem!
The food is consistently good and the service level from the staff (Seena in particular) is impeccable. We dined here this past Saturday night and the food was great as usual. I am doing Keto and it is a great place to do so-- I had the chicken soup first and then the Rotisserie Chicken with green beans. Everything was terrific!!
I highly recommend for a great meal with no pretentious atmosphere!!
We were there on Valentine's day, and the restaurant was packed to capacity. Inside seemed quite noisey, but we were seated outside, which was much quieter and very pleasant. Overall, the six course dinner was good--the scallops in one of the courses were overcooked. The other five courses were excellent. The decaf coffee also left something to be desired. The service was excellent, but yet unintrusive.
Absolutely the perfect place for a romantic and excellent dinner. We dined on the patio by candlelight - a prix fixe 6 course tasting for Valentines Day.
The service was excellent, my wife loved her confit de canard which was nice and tender and not fatty (a common problem with duck). A very enjoyable evening.
Our server, Sina, at the La Quinta restaurant, was excellent as were our meals.
Best Valentines Day meal/experience ever!!!
A. Quaint and charming neighborhood restaurant with a small but adequate menu. The French food is
Authentic and delicious. The staff is professional; knowledgeable and friendly.
A fantastic neighborhood restaurant with great food. Go late and there will be a little less noise
Food was wonderful! The staff was very friendly, they were just very busy. Look forward to returning.
Everything about our visit was good and the service was fantastic. John was our waiter, he really knew the menu and the wine - we could not have had better service. We had 6 in our party and everyone was impressed. This restaurant is a little gem- delicious, fun and enjoyable. We will be back. Highly recommend!
The food and service were very good but a short menu! Hopefully the menu will change frequently for us to return! Sitting outside was was the way to go for a quiet relaxing evening!!
It was lovely. We’ll go back!
I really wanted to like it because it’s a neighborhood place.
Escargot was great. Bread was good, but FRENCH onion soup was about a C-... Very disappointing. Caesar salad was ok but charging extra for anchovies? Really necessary? We all thought it was pretty pricey for a small neighborhood place that was very noisy with a tile floor.
Probably wouldn’t go back nor recommend it either.
In a strip mall and easy to miss- some of the best and most authentic country French food in the valley!
Enjoyable and nice atmosphere
Great food and service.
A charming French bistro in a neighborhood strip mall. A true find.
We were bowled over by the quality of our entrees. Every one of us said they enjoyed their entree AND “the best escargot and French Onion soup I have ever tasted!”
We will be back again and again.
Just nice! Tasty and pleasant atmosphere
Try the deserts very unique and tasty
Great food, wine and ambiance.
Our first visit...food was outstanding, as was the service. Restaurant is quite small and very popular, so we did not feel we could actually relax while dining...it was a bit frenetic. I would consider returning when weather I conducive to outside seating, although not much of a view...strip mall parking lot.
A neighborhood gem. I’ve lived in La Quinta for many years and just learned of the restaurant after visiting their new restaurant in Palm Desert. Small, around 15 tables, great salads and entrees. The salmon, toasted chicken and scallops were delicious. Fresh crusty French bread and herb butter. Somewhat limited wine menu and no hard liquor. Will definitely be back
We decided to try this restaurant based on the excellent reviews. It did not disappoint. It’s a cute little bistro tucked back in an unlikely location. But don’t let the location deter you from trying this desert gem. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. My husband started with the Desert Caesar salad and I had the La Jardiniere Tri-Color (beet) salad. Both were wonderful and big enough to share. We both had the Boeuf Bourguignon and it was amazing. The beef was so tender and flavorful, and the mashed potatoes were some of the best (maybe the best) I have ever had. We will be going back very soon. Be sure to make reservations, they are very busy!
