The food is outstanding and service are wonderful but it is very loud. I had to move my chair right next to my partner so that we could hear each other. Outside on the sidewalk on the side street seems quieter!

The warmer weather allowed us to try lunch at French Roast's new outdoor dining. The food and service were excellent, and the new outdoor dining area, covered from direct sunlight, was delightful. I have never been disappointed with French Roast.

We had a very indifferent waitperson who was maybe too busy to see what our table needed. After ordering coffee mid-meal, a busboy eventually brought it to me since it seemed that she forgot to put in the order. The food seems to have become less than what I remembered. the chicken sausage now is flavorless, mealy and dry, the omelet was rubbery and inedible, the salad dressing was sweet rather than the nice vinaigrette that I remembered being at this restaurant. In general, I doubt if we will return. It used to be one of our favorite places in the neighborhood. Not any more.

I actually dined here twice that day. Met friends for lunch then had dinner with my husband. As mentioned previously, it is my "go to" place

I came here on a first date. The service was good and generous (they let us stay and hang out without being rushed). However, the oatmeal I ordered was not hot when it arrived to the table and for $12, I felt it was a bit steep in price. Overall, good first date location!

French Roast used to be my favorite place to go when I went downtown so I decided to try this uptown location, the only one left. The food was meh. The portions were kind of small in comparison to other places. The ambiance was extremely busy and overcrowded, they shouldn’t seat people with the crowds already there. The avocado toast with salmon that I got only had a thin spread of avocado just to taste. The salmon was also a tiny portion. Mom’s Monsieur Croquette was kind of plain. The one thing I’m grateful for is that they accommodated my peanut allergy and I was also able to have the dessert which was a perfect baked cream concoction which was once again way too small for the price. Just because it’s a French-themed restaurant doesn’t mean the food should be bite-sized, too. They also used to play amazing underground singers and songwriters. Now the music is all top 40 which makes the ambiance the same as I would get in my car. Please bring back the magic of downtown!
