Very pleasant lunch with quite good food.
My husband and I dined at this restaurant for the first time this past weekend. There is seating both inside and outside, but we chose to sit inside because I was not wanting to deal with the heat!
Our waiter, Walid, was very attentive and we enjoyed chatting with him after our meal. We both had onion soup, which was very good. I had a shrimp dish with a light provencale sauce over risotto. The dish was very good, but the risotto was outstanding! Hubby had duck leg confit which came with green beans, potatoes and sauteed onions. He said it was also very good, and I can vouch for the potatoes because I tasted one...nice and crispy!
We can't comment on dessert because we don't generally order that course, as we prefer appetizers. One thing to note, the savory crepes are only available at lunch, so we will have to return to check them out.
The food was amazing. 2 if our family members had completely finished their meals before the other 2 came out, which was less than ideal by far. (In fact, our desert crepes came out before their actual meals.). However, we loved the food and will return.
We had a wonderful brunch and our server Ansley was a GREAT.
Love this secret gem. Simple menu but well prepared. We also loved the blood-orange champagne cocktails. :)
Delicious and authentic croque madame!
Such a nice place and the food was so good.. I hope it stays around!
I’m honestly not sure how to rate this place. I’d probably say it’s a mix of 3 and 4 stars but I’ll definitely give it a second chance as it has the potential to be excellent. Met two clients for a weekday casual lunch. Got there early at 11.45am and understandably it was empty. Service was good and reasonably prompt. Food was very good except the salmon sauce was way too salty. The Nutella crepes were delicious. The venue served its purpose for an easy lunch but I’m curious enough to take my wife there for a romantic dinner one day. I’ll write a second review when I do.
Cozy interior, food was ok. For the price there are other options which may be better.
Great cuisine option for a family restaurant, there are better French options in Atlanta metro, for a couple or business meal, however.
We were disappointed by our visit to this restaurant. The reviews were excellent which is why we went. The crepes most of us ordered took forever to arrive even though the restaurant was sparsely attended. They were not as good as we had thought they would be
Delicious menu choices. I do come for the crepes which I adore! It was enjoyable interacting with our waiter who was very accommodating and attentive.
French Gourmet Bistro is exactly what it's name suggests: a French gourmet bistro. The food is excellent, the atmosphere inside the restaurant is inviting, and the servers are friendly. What more could you ask for? Give this spot a chance, and you'll leave full and happy.
It's a nice quiet spot for a date night and tasty food.
Great food. Quiet atmosphere. Crepe Normande for dessert is out of this world. Great restaurant with nice outside terrace dining options. Owners introduced themselves to us and were great hosts. Highly recommended. We’ll be back many times.
What an surprising and enjoyable meal. Started out with two glasses of Malbec and Calamari. The wine was great and the Calamari was only served with mayonaise. The waiter brought my fiance some red sauce which she used the finish the appetizer. She has chicken and linguine with a cream sauce and I had the beef bourginon. Both were fabulous. And to finish the night we had two capacinos and a crepe. The capacinos were very small by were Lilly brand which we remembered from our Italian and French visits in year past. The crepe was unbelievable. If you go get the house special crepe as they have about ten to choose from. The price of dinner was quite low considering the quality of the food. We will be back.
I was excited to try the restaurant and eagerly looked forward to my veal and brussel sprouts only to find out they didn't have them available (on a Saturday night??). Ordered the risotto and husband ordered the lamb and both were fantastic. We then went to order the profiterelles and again, they didn't have them....
Other than that, we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere and will be back!
Upon arrival, waited for a staff member to come to front. No one at the front. Server wanted to seat us very quickly. I let her know that we had made a reservation through OpenTable and to please check us in. She, server, was very unpolished lacking people skills. After being served water, she wanted to take our order. We were the only people in the restaurant. No bread service; not even offered. We ordered cup of lentil soup; endive salad; steak frites; and beef bourguignon. The lentil soup was good. The endive was old and the apple slices yellowed. Steak frites all right, the fries tasted like ones you would buy at grocery store. Beef bourguignon was awful-nasty untrimmed meat with sitting in tasteless gravy with mushy potatoes and carrots. Tasted like common pot roast. The manager offered only to make another plate. I declined. I asked for it to be taken off bill but manager did not take it off or even discount it. The server asked about dessert which we did not want. Server returned, roughly slid the the bill on table and walked away. We paid the bill and left. No one came back and no one said anything when we left. Very poor service and food.
Happy to find an unpretentious restaurant with a French menu. Food is not overly fussy or spectacular, but it’s good, it’s reasonably priced, and it’s local.
Wine was excellent. Food average. Service ok. Mussels were undercooked and slimy. I had to send them back. We probably won't go back there.
We had reservations for Valentine’s Day. A choice of the prix fix or ala carte. We chose the prix fix and got Escargot and Frois Gras which was delicious. Our entrees were the Lobster Thermidor and Filet. The lobster tasted delicious however, we were only given half a lobster. The server made excuses saying the chef made a mistake. My thought was that they probably didn’t order enough lobsters to serve the patrons. So of course there wasn’t much to eat. I complained to our server who then took 50% off the lobster entree. Dessert was creme brûlée and petit four desserts. The server said the chef messed up the creme brûlée and we we given a crepe w/apple slices and caramel, delicious!
Our server did not pickup empty glasses or dishes as he passed our table.i had to request he remove empty dishes/glasses.
We will come back for another try ordering from the regular menu.
First impression was a rough one. Valentines night. Reservation only and it’s like they were caught by surprise. Completely understaffed and our poor server had no chance. We had 6:00 reservations so we arrived well before the rush.
Not the servers fault but we constantly had no drinks and gave up asking for coffee with dessert.
Decor was more of a diner look. Tables looked like a fast food restaurant. No table cloths and paper napkins on table. “Entertainment” was a guitarist with a French accent singing country songs very off key.
Aside from our waitress who did all she could to keep up, hostess and what other staff there was seemed bored at best and were no help at all. Hostess would (sort of) greet people, walk a few steps and then point to their table.
Food was just ok. Escargot was good. French onion soup was good. Filet was excellent, duck was ok although overcooked. Dessert was a train wreck. Obviously pre made creme brûlée was served cold with watery custard at the bottom. Disgusting. Sent it back and hostess replaced with a pre made chocolate mousse that was at least edible.
I get that everyone can have a bad night and I will even try them again one day.
Good food. Slow, very slow service.
They were clearly overwhelmed. Our reservation was at 10:15. We didn’t receive our food until 11:30, and then, the poached eggs were over-cooked, the crepe was under-cooked, and the bananas were over-ripe.
Excellent food, excellent wine and the wait staff was wonderful!
We ordered from the crepe menu - we are vegetarian so there was a lot to choose from from this menu. The cocktails were really good and the food was tasty. The service was excellent and we really liked the ambiance. Definitely a great place for a date night. We saw that they also had cordoned off areas where you could have a private get together for a group party. Would definitely go back.
Just an afternoon out fir brunch. Food was good and our waiter was attentive.
Excellent place where you can dine and actually have a conversation with your companions. Large covered outdoor dining tables are available. Outdoor and indoor ables are spaced well and the staff is taking cleanliness and covid precautions very seriously.
Excellent Food and service !!! That is really French one !!
Located in a plain Milton shopping strip the restaurant offers ample parking space. Inside doesn't dazzle, but is functional and pleasant to the eye. The menu offers a selection of dishes for lunch, dinner, or brunch. We took the fried calamari appetizer that was outstanding. We enjoyed the French Cheese Plate as well. As the main course, we tried Loup de Mer (Mediterranean Sea Bass), the classic Beouf Bourguignon. Both choices were excellent. We followed with Creme Brule and a tarte. On the menu there are also salads, vegetarian choices, sandwiches and burgers, as well as pasta.
The wine selection is well prepared to pair all the food on the menu.
Great couples double date dinner. Drinks and food were amazing. Loved the patio with heater.
Not a fan. Slow service. Never even got to the main meal because we decided to get out.
Was our first time and had the BEST experience. Servers were so fun. Wine tasting was amazing and food was delicious. We had mussels for appetizers then, I had veal and my husband had the beef. Left with a bottle of wine and can’t wait to go back.
Did go on a Wednesday so it was not busy, all staff wore masks and we felt safe.
Lovely dinner aqt the French Gourmet! The oysters were delicious and our entrees were yummy! And the French Onion soup was superb!
Everything was delicious and special. Looking forward to our return. Loved the owners & staff.
Waited 30 minutes at the table. No one ever spoke to us. No one said they would be right with us. We could see very few people had food. So, we decided to get up and leave as it appeared we would be there for hours.
Could have been a staffing or kitchen problem. We felt bad for them but just didn’t have 2-3 hours to eat. Might try it again someday. Went to Salt and were served in minutes.
Not same old same old menu. Lovely staff. Food is great
Great food ! Wonderful dining atmosphere. Will go again
Food is always deliciously prepared and graciously served. We are fans! Caesar salads, beef bourguignon, reasonably priced Bordeaux and a banana split crepe to share for dessert! All excellent.
I do not like writing a negative review. But, I could have made better food at home. It was expensive for food that was sub par. One would think, in this climate, the staff would not look bored. I will not go back.
