French Crust Cafe & Bistro
Breakfast, lunch and brunch--viennoiserie
and French pastry and chocolats from
Chocolatier Jean Philippe Solnom.
Great food and service. Excellent for any occasion!
Our waiter Marcus was fantastic. Polite, helpful, knowledgeable, and efficient. The food was fabulous. I had the tomato, zucchini and goat cheese quiche. My daughter had the ham and cheese goat croissant with béchamel sauce. She said hers was delicious too. Excellent restaurant!
Avacado not ripe-hard
Frog legs- tough
Fried egg on friend’s burger undercooked. Almost raw
Jean Robert, Megan & the team have always created amazing dining experiences for us and our guests. They are truly a gem in our city!
Pleasant, bright bistro. Food turned out to disappointing. Several items unavailable at 6pm. Duck and mussels. Tartare relatively bland. Lamb shank over cooked and tough. Preparations that are slow cooked fall off the bone. This piece of meat was a struggle. In addition served with a regular knife rather than steak knife. Overall disappointing.
Lovely lunch--food was excellent as always. Great portions--could split several items if light eater.
We are blessed to have Jean Robert. The French Crust is very comfortable and friendly. It is in a part of OTR that is away from the evening hub bub that adds to the ambiance. Plan room return for brunch.
One of our favorite places for dinner. Always have had great food in a pleasant atmosphere.
Wonderful food. The location is by the Market in the OTR area of Cincinnati. This is an area that leaves a little to be desired, gangs of people hanging out made us feel a little uneasy walking in the area.
Onion soup was far too spicy; too “peppery.” Server said she agreed after tasting, but offered nothing else. Short rib was over cooked and very dry, even with sauce. Clearly an off night in the kitchen. Dinner for two, with one glass of wine and tip, was $98. Not worth it this time.
It was a perfect dining experience
We thought the dinner there was a great experience. I have had lunch there several times but the dinner was especially nice.
The cocktails and entrees were amazing. Inviting space and quaint dining experience. The appetizers (charcuterie, beef tartare, summer salad, and potato croquette) were good but underwhelming. Paled in comparison to the main course in terms of freshness and overall flavor of the entree (Sea scallops and skate).
I would definitely recommend and can't wait to try the brunch menu!
Wonderful lunch meals, all different orders and all empty plates. Returning again next visit.
Would only recommend for breakfast or lunch....but not for dinner. The shirt ribs OK but the chicken was overcooked very chewy...couldn't eat all of it. Our Server was not attentive. He seemed to have plenty of time to chat with other guests but we almost felt we needed to tackle him to make any request. And the restaurant was not really that busy especially when we first arrived
Such a delightful place for dinner with friends. Very impressed with everything.
We love this place! It is a must-try in Cincinnati.
Great place to have dinner in OTR away from the crowds. Never disappoints.
Too many potatoes! On Saturday evening I ordered the skate fish and it came with mashed potatoes AND fingerling potatoes..two tiny pieces of Broccolini and two pieces of carrot. It was tasty but I am not interested in potatoes with potatoes. Actually surprised that we were rushed to order...although the food was presented slowly which is what we like. We had our 20 year old grandson with us and we were catching up on his news. So at 6:30pm we were not in a hurry. The best part of the whole evening was good, cheap parking place which makes me sad...I love anything Jean Robert especially Table and L. We did wander through the back of the restaurant and saw all the salt and pepper shakers. We like the location of the restaurant and the bistro in the back and the bright dining room. The other two dinners looked wonderful and the duck especially was delicious..as we had some left over and took it home. The bread is outstanding and thanks for not charging us for it! Dislike places that do. We'll try brunch next time.
Truly delicious! I appreciate they easy exchange of grain for veggies!!
The 4 top table was very close to the 4 top table behind us. It was difficult to get in and out of the chairs.
The person, not our server, that brought the food was a little rude.
The hostess had no idea about the parking rules in front of the restaurant.
The food was good.
Skate fish was disappointing . Unappetizing looking and too well done. The beef and scallops meals were very good.
We were seated at a window table, very close to table behind us. Felt really closed in. Optional tables for four with plenty of room were available near us.
Chessboard and breads were excellent, service was top rate,
Food was delicious, they had an availability issue with the lamb dish I was intending to order, and the spare rib was slightly dry, but our server was extremely friendly. The service was great and would recommend giving this place a try
The swordfish with risotto was amazing. The burger chevalier was over cook the medium requested fried egg was cooked hard. The fries tasted as though they had been sitting in oil too long and were not crisp as frites. The flavor was very good just over cook all other meals eaten in the past here have been excellent
The food was good, but it was nothing exceptional as expected in a JR Group restaurant.
This is my favorite restaurant in Cincinnati. I’ve had delicious meals. Highly recommend the scallops and risotto - love the fresh peas in the risotto!
Wonderful, as usual!
French Crust is an ongoing favorite! The staff is friendly, the food consistently good and the atmosphere is comfortable. I highly recommend this restaurant!
This was our first visit to French Crust Cafe and Bistro, but it won't be our last. Although the service is on the slow side, the food is excellent and it was worth the wait. Thanks.
Heaven on earth. ALMOST makes me want to move downtown!
I know French Crust is known for their amazing pastries & brunch/lunch but it is an under rated gem for dinner! There should be a line out the door! it is one of my favorite places in the city for seafood & steak (my husband) . Megan K. is always makes us fee welcome and at home.
A must stop when visiting Findlay Market! The staff is outstanding, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is wonderful.
Real French Bistro food. The swordfish special was perfectly prepared.
Wonderful in every way. Meals prepared artfully and food arrived hot.
The service was attentive. The food was good. Our only complaint was too few choices. We would certainly add the French Crust to our list of good places to dine with friends.
Service and food were both outstanding. The duck leg confit is highly recommended. Our entire experience here was first rate.
Phenomenal, delicious food and outstanding service. They were so accommodating to our party of five which included kids.
As always, the food and service was great. I ventured off my regular order of scallops to the swordfish. Well worth it!
Great luncheon with old friends. The food and service was fantastic.
